Lime Scurvy és una cançó de les nord-americanes Susie Deane i Sarah R Newcomb (sota el pseudònim d'Elliot Crawford Finch) amb el títol original de The Capitain’s Shanty. El nostre arranjament vol millorar el concepte de barrejar un sea shanty amb tonades celtes amb un estil frenètic que vam descobrir amb Johnny Comes Down to Hilo.
Els reels que hi surten són Flogging Reel, Boys of Malin i Mc Arthur’s Road. Cadascuna està en un to diferent, i per fer les transicions ens vam inspirar en artistes de folk nord-americà com We Banjo 3 o Chris Thile.
Lime Scurvy és un sea shanty humorístic que està escrit com l’escriuria algú que mai ha anat al mar. Aquesta idea és important en el nostre grup, ja que per nosaltres la música és una forma de viatjar a través de la imaginació. Això, i que nosaltres tampoc hem navegat mai. La vam descobrir al disc de The Mollyhawks, el grup del John i la Sue, que són qui ens va portar a tocar a Anglaterra per primer cop.

This song was written by the very talented ladies, Sarah Newcomb and Suzie Deane who wrote together under the pseudonym, Elliot Finch. Crawford indicates that others helped out (usually by adding ideas or the occasional extra verse).
For the record, the refrain as written was
"Yo ho ho and a ruddy bum bum". Not "a bottle of rum".
One verse which was left out of this video:

The first "Heave" is as pulling on a rope; the second is the result of sea-sickness.
We learned it by ear in a shanty festival so we did our free interpretation of the song making the changes we wanted :) Sarah and Suzie wrote to us and they really like it. Hope you do too.

We are not sure about what "out of character" means, hopefully something good!! Anyway the idea came out because the intro had this sort of silent-spedup-oldmovie humor feeling to it and we don't really pay much attention to lyrics anyway. Hopefully that will answer you!
