Side sleeper here as well. Won't lie, was definitely considering that return after the initial purchase, even though my SO took to loving it immediately. Took me about a week to adjust (for it to stop hurting), and a month to stop getting the dead-arm, but sleeping better than ever now. Glad I gave it the time. Haven't slept this well since I was a kid.

Have been sleeping on a purple mattress (original) for a few weeks now and for the most part, it is amazingly comfortable. Sleeping on my back is great, but side sleeping, my most common way of falling asleep, (although comfortable) always leads to me waking up with a really sore back.
I studied this video very closely and I found out that the model on the Purple Mattress didn't have a perfectly straight spine, it actually appears to bend a little bit. But if I had to choose, the Purple Mattress is still my best choice for a mattress.

I tested my mattress to see my spinal alignment, and it was closely similar to the spinal alignment of the bed in a box or the pillow top mattress in this video. My bed is a memory foam spring mattress if you're wondering.

It's production that is the issue sadly. They're trying to keep up with orders as is. I waited for 2 weeks for mine to come and will be spending my first night on my queen size in about 20 minutes!

I wish the mattress was as good as the advertisement. I was such a fan of the brand they created and made the splurge thinking this is what would save my back and get me out of pain.
My spine is the least straight it’s ever been on my purple mattress. The mattress is so hard that my hips and shoulders don’t sink in and I’m hour glass shaped, so side sleeping isn’t comfortable at all on this. It’s only squishy for maybe an inch or two deep so if you’re hour glass shaped, it’s a not go. There is something oddly satisfying about it’s texture and how it feels like soft alien skin, but I never wake up rested or without back pain. Back to sleeping on the couch while a $1000+ mistake takes up space in my bedroom.

I have a Purple mattress and it's the most comfortable I've had for stomach sleeping. I honestly don't love it for side that much, but I think my pillow isn't quite right for side sleeping.

If ure sleeping on ure stomach i recommed putting a soft-mid pillow under ure pelvis area.... itll help keep ure back aligned. In case ya werent aware too; sleeping with any pillow under ure head while stomach sleeping will mess ure neck up too.

Back sleeping is fine but I am 80% of the time on my side and this bed is just far too firm for me. I really wanted to love this purple bed, I’m disappointed that I might need to return it....

I thought that spines were supposed to be curved and not straight so it can absorb shocks better and keep it from breaking when absorbing and distributing the shock
I'm not sure if I 100% agree with this. I bought a Purple a few months back and I still had lower back pain from tight hips/poor posture. I returned it. Then ordered a Hybrid Alexander but now I'm returning it as well after 3 months. It seems like after a month or two the mattress sags near my lower back and causes issues, additionally my poor posture/tight hips do not help. However...I'm a back sleeper not a side sleeper. The only relief I can get is when I place a pillow under my butt/lower back and under my knees. Anyone been in this situation?
Try putting 2 pillows more under your calves than knees and prop your upper body up on one of those big wedge pillows. Did your doctor tell you to put a pillow under your back? I can't imagine that not making things worse. If so, my bad. I have a slipped vertebrae and two stress fractures in my back from over exercise and possible neuropathy now and I can't lay down for more than one minute in any other position than the one I suggested without pain, cramps, pins and needles, or numbness. It is the only position I can relax in and I've heard it is suggested for a lot of back issues but idk. Hope things get better!
Like the commercial mentioned, where's the chiropractor in all that? :P I hope you're not doing all this random shopping without consulting someone to check your pressure points, how to handle them, and maybe even checking your spine alignment like the commercial shows lol. After all, as a crazy thought, maybe Purple worked perfectly - but your vertebra and cartilage are too far gone or simply too used to NOT being very straight!
Or the mattress really doesnt help and you should actually buy a more supportive mattress, I bought a purple mattress and it made my back hurt worse then a spring mattress so I went to matress store and tried out matresses before buying and found a memory foam to work great for the pain. Was a little more expensive then purple but totally worth it. Wake up well rested and great!!! EVERY DAY!

Did you use the same pillow for all the tests? do you assume everyone that buys your product has the same height and weight? Is the lady just making her spine straight on the purple mattress and purposely not on the other ones? When you run an experiment on different brands comparing then to yours you have to have all factors the same with a even playing field for all sides. These are just some questions and I'm only 14! I hope actual scientists check commercials like these out and debunk them.
While I would never think ANY commercial is presenting things 100% accurately and therefore what this showed mostly likely wasn't very scientific, I have to give them props for showing competitors' results as having a VERY SLIGHT curvature. With how direct and slander-like some commercials are these days, the fact they DON'T show EVERY alternative as extremely horrendous and life-threatening makes this commercial QUITE believable and honest-sounding. "We're the best but, uh, that bed in a box is kind of close, actually."
As an owner of one of these mattresses who had high hopes, no, not all body shapes and weights are accounted for. Light weight people complain they don’t sink it an all. I’m slightly over average and have an hour glass shape and my hips and shoulders don’t sink in at all because there isn’t enough squish - so my spine looks like a U - high in the hips and shoulders, low in the middle, when I side sleep on this. I usually wake up stiff and still tired.
