Thank you so much for this video. The car seat and truck user manuals never would have allowed me to see that this is what I needed to do.

The rerouting is absolutely horrendous design. And you can’t even get it tight if you try you’ll pull the seat at an angle, even if you tighten the bottom ones first, and the top of the seat will move side to side more that 1” as stated in most carseat owners manuals

I have a 2003 Toyota Tacoma. The rear cabin has seats, but they're small. I got a Cosco Toddler Car Seat, and when I put everything in the designated space, the top tether creates a situation where the sit can lean forward a couple of inches. I don't feel comfortable with it. I'm looking at getting additional tether straps and running them on top in a way that I can anchor the top down without any lag. I'm also looking at using zip strips to help enforce that (overkill I'm sure). I hope it works. I don't see why it won't. But it's been a frustrating process nonetheless.

From my understanding, the safest place to place a car seat is in the middle. How would you anchor it from there?

Usually there is a loop to redirect the strap like in this video, except the latch is located on the driver or passenger side. Check the manual as it is vehicle specific, most likely based on which side the middle seatbelt is routed. My GMC has a middle loop and the latch attachment behind the rear driver side for a middle seat install. But, there are no lower LATCH anchors in the middle of my truck, only the 2 outside seats.

I'm still trying to understand why pickup trucks have rear seats.

The f150 anchor system sucks! I know what truck I won't be buying.
