  • It was not the door panel like everyone else says!
    All the videos on youtube about wet rear footwell claims that the door panel is leaking. Not in my case! It was the rear drains for the sunroof leaking!
    Detailed description how to diy this yourself. Easily done with basic hand tools.
    Do you have wet carpet problems in your BMW E60?? Check the rear drains for you sunroof!

    Good video. I described the issue to my mechanic. He immediately said it was probably the sunroof drains. Checked on Google & CZcams. The issue is addressed widely with multiple solutions. Mechanic charged 2 hours labor to remedy & the problem is no more. 2014 BMW 320XI

    Super video and one of the only ones I 've found that actually clearly shows the rear clogged part for proper without just ripping it off! Great Video! Thank you!

    Great video! Thanks. For the E39 it is often the door panel btw. In the E39 the 'glue' of the sound insulation in the door deteriorates and that's causing wet carpets which look exactly the same as the drain issue on E60 👍

    The best video I have seen so for... well done.

  • @victormanuelparraexposito2819

    Oh I really needed this video, same problem on the same side. Thank you so much. If your front window master switch stops working you may want to check the door-chasis connection, I had to hot wire mine.

      @@kjemad you made that look a lot harder than it is all you do is pull the rubber drain plug out from under the wheel arch that is where the mud block it up there is no need to go putting a wire up the hose

    This was the reason for my leak as well. Except my caused major damage to the steering column electrical components and it cost $1000 to get it fix at a local indi shop dealer wanted $$3400. All because of these dumb little drain holes that I never knew existed.

    I found that my battery was half submerged under water after my coolant hose popped and figured that to be the reason my water pump stopped working now I'm tracking down electrical gremlins because of poor tail light seals so watch out for that one too!

      Unclog the drains and dry out the carpet, and the foam under it, you'll be fine

      anything that doesnt poke a hole in the plastic tubes. be careful! just clear the end first and see if its sufficient. plastic grass trimmer line works too. dont need much! and DO NOT use much force on it!

    What kind of wire cord/tool did you use to clean the drains?

    • @kjemad
      @kjemad  Před 11 měsíci

      the plug is usually all the way at the end of the drain. just insert a zip tie or something that won't poke holes. its easy to clear. do not try to insert something from above in the sunroof. the inner fender must be removed and drain unplugged from bellow

    • @kjemad

      the drain hoses might be disconnected from the moonroof tub. that can happen if you try to showe something down the tube to unclog them or use compressed air.....

    • @User-qu7pq
      @User-qu7pq Před 4 měsíci

      @@kjemad they’re connected it’s the white tubs in the rear ..They are not leaking from hose but the actual tub unit and my passenger front that is faulty too I have constant water in the cabin it’s frustrating

  • @chiefrocka8604

    Wouldn’t lo pressure compressed air do the same save taking wheel and arch lining out ?

    • @kjemad
      @kjemad  Před 7 měsíci

      would recommend against it. you will most likely dislocate/disconnect the drain hoses and cause even more issues requiring the headliner to come out.....
