  • Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa Airbox Modification - Part 21
    Today, on my Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa i try an airbox modification that i didnt know existed, its an airbox modification, you can also remove the pair valve and cap them, along with a remapped power commander should add a few extra horsepower

    you are very welcome mate.....when you take out the pair valve remember you have to block one of the pipe around the air box.....google it cos its awhile since I done mine and can remember and no longer have the bike....

    PLEASE , DO NOT CUT YOUR FRONT FENDER ON A HAYABUSA,... The Hayabusa front fender though NOT the most "attractive" IS the reason the ZX 12 "NEVER" caught it... DO more research.. that ugly fender is the first stage of AERODYNAMICS of the bird of prey...

      Thanks Hal, appreciate your concern, the fender in question is an old spare in not good condition, the original is still safe and sound

    Cool. I remember taking only the airbox snorkel off a previous kle500. Such a minor thing but couldnt get it to run right at all without it. Hope you have more success fella 👍

    Now a days people have multi tools ;) they cut fast and easy. Keep the vacuum cleaner close to clean the mess you make;)

    Do you know for the airbox you could you use a Dremel tool it would’ve made a better cut and cleaner

    Thanks for responding but I have an 07 I had my power commander before I did my air box mod and the block off plates now that I removed the pair valve and did the mod the bike doesn’t want to start at all and I’m getting huge backfires and big balls of flames out of the exhaust

    • @TheAmateurBikeBuilder
      @TheAmateurBikeBuilder  Před 3 lety

      not familiar with the 07 model as i have a 99 model, but sounds like you will need to get it remapped, either ECU or power commander but check first with a specialist tuner

    Does this mod. lean the mixture out? I have a 2007 'busa that runs rich and I've tried everything and changed all the sensors and it still runs rich. I was thinking if this mod. adds more air to the mixture maybe it would lean it out enough to get it to run properly.

    • @TheAmateurBikeBuilder
      @TheAmateurBikeBuilder  Před 3 lety

      Unsure ,as mine is a gen 1, cannot reprogram the ECU on these, Gen 2's are i think 32 bit ECU and can be remapped, also i run an aftermarket 4 into one and a power commander, try having the ECU remapped

    • @nitrousninja882
      @nitrousninja882 Před 3 lety +1

      @@TheAmateurBikeBuilder As a '07 my 'busa is the last year of the gen.1. This mod would have to lean the mixture out as it adds more air, that's probably why they tell you to tune your ECU or add P.C. afterwards.

      @@nitrousninja882 have you checked the injectors ? also have you done a dealer mode code check ? other thing could be the fuel /air sensor, is the bike stock ?

    • @nitrousninja882
      @nitrousninja882 Před 3 lety +1

      @@TheAmateurBikeBuilder Yes, injectors were cleaned and we checked all the sensors. Pair valve removed, ECU flashed and slip on mufflers. It's a mystery!

    • @TheAmateurBikeBuilder

      @@nitrousninja882 very odd, with the pair valve removed should in theory run a bit leaner and not richer, but then thinking about it when i did just this mod it did run richer, but when all complete runs like a dream

      I have a power commander 3 and a full micro exhaust, i just got an extra air box with a k&n air filter to try out this mood. Not looking to spend more on a precise tune if i don’t have to right now. Is it absolutely necessary? And does this throw any sort of engine lights or such?

      Thanks Anthony, i did put in the video at 2.58 to 3.10 that the pair valves need to be removed and capped and that a power commander needs to be fitted and mapped for the gen1 1999 and 2000 models the later models that have a 32 bit ECU can be remapped, mine did start on the standard ECU without a power commander but ran rough and rich
