- Patching and jamming on a system centered around maximum oontz with minimum fuss.
Erica Synths DUAL VCF is fed the Pico Voice and Pico VCO for melodies and bass. I'll show you how I patch it all and we'll have some fun along the way.

please please please do more of these patch from scratch videos.... i enjoy them so much!!
"What happens if we fuck it up?" - I like your way of thinking... 😄
I love these patch from scratches, it both educates and gives us an insight into your process! Also, the beat at 23:22 is crazy good!
This is everything a patch video should be. Very intuitive with so many nuggets. This and Lightbath’s “the joy of patching” is worth rewatching a few times.
I like the video focusing more on patching techniques than the individual modules. Gave me some good ideas on how to use pam and steppy in ways I haven't.
This patch from scratch was a great idea. It's ironic that this videos has fewer views than a lot of others. Not only did this help me wrap my mind around interactions of modules I'd not fully understood before, but we got a great jam out of it too.
Since I'm in the research stage of modular, there are a couple things this video has that makes it more helpful than others. First the overhead and close up made it easier for me to see what was happening. Second you verbally walked us through the purpose of each move. Instead of some rather annoying noise to demonstrate what modules can do, it was all shown in a very musical way. You showed how you set things up with an eye towards performance. I legitimately got lost in your jam same as you did.
I learned more from this video than I was expecting. I like a good walk-through of a particular piece of equipment.
But the walk-through of the patching and performance was even better and anyone who hasn't watched this one is missing out.
I was hearing some good things about this filter but then fell into your patching…beautiful share🍁✨🛸
At last you have a black dual VCF! My first and still my go to filter
Thanks for this. Really digging the emphasis on smart use of "surprising" and random.
It is so delightful to watch a true artist at work in their medium. Bravo!
Nice work!
Digging the jam and the setup.
This looks so fun, I think I'll be getting pam's after watching this video!
I love this and can't wait to get my hand on enough money to get some modules and finally start having this kind of fun
OMG! I haven't seen your channel for a while. You really went down that Modular rabbit hole. You make it look so easy, but the Moog Grandmother is hard enough for me to figure out. I'm more a keyboard & guitar player, than a computer artist. Excellent work. So happy for you. You really have come a long way. Love the transition and happy for the explanations, though they go over my head a lot. But just like learning magnetism, I am slowly understanding this.
I love your channel!
This sounds AMAZING
This patch is genius!!
Outstanding! Very helpful. I have a divider and Steppy and I haven't done this yet.
Already missed your modular mondays😻👍🏻
Very interesting indeed, thanks!
The rhythm machine module of the Marble Machine X is doing the exact same job as the clock divider is in this patch. Fun to see the parallels between the modular synth and marble machine domains
oh neat!
Really loving this set up, got me trying to figure out how to downsize it to run as a portable live rig!
This is some awesome oontz indeed!
Your videos make me wish I was a synthesizer...
Great video thank you.
I just bought your dual vcf :) excited I am.
Sup Auburn buddy! I dropped it at the post office at lunch.
@@RedMeansRecording excellent! We met a couple of years ago on the link light rail, after I told you how rad the OP-1/Deluge was I sold them both and dove head first into modular. Glad you’ve jumped into the beautiful world of Eurorack too. All the content you’ve been making has been super helpful on my own journey. Cheers
Oh I remember!
I keep thinking there is a cat is doing all the talking... especially when you are scat singing... But that clock doubler with uneven gate triggers is brilliant!
:3
Lovely!
I've been looking at dual filters recently and I noticed the Erica Dual Filter, which I see you're using. It looks great, but quite big (space wise). I'd been looking at the Soundforce Dual Filter, which is smaller but cheaper, however, I bumped into the Erica somewhere and I have just enough space to fit one in, hence my interest.
So, since I see the video's made a year back maybe you can give me some thoughts on the Erica filter if you have some, and - I see you've also got a Popple stereo filter in there too -
how you balance the two filters in (what looks like) such a small space?
Thanks in advance, and thanks for your great videos, I always enjoy watching them.

Oh no The Cables Strike Back
you and look mum no computer have convinced me to getting into modular synths!
RIP wallet :(
Learn how to solder, keep your wallet.
@@kellymerrill5294 Im an electrical engineer, soldering is ok to me lul, its just that I still have to buy a lot of things haha
Good content as always.
It's probably too much to ask, but I'd like to see that rack brute attached to your minibrute 2, just to see what it's capable of
I no longer have the minibrute. I tend not to hold onto gear for a long time.
This is really great. I’m struggling with my setup - I wish I understood it better. Specifically I have Plaits feeding into Rings (for bassy goodness) but the signals are fighting each other. I have it all patched into Erica Synths DualFX.
sorry this is off topic. I’m not sure where else to post.
Sounds like you might want a mixer?
@@RedMeansRecording Sent ya an email just in case

I'm interested in getting into modular synth stuff. I've been playing gutar/bass/drums/piano/etc.. for years. Where would you suggest I start??
Probably with a semi modular like the 0 coast or Moog mother 32 or something like that?
Software is also a great way to get familiarized with all the modular stuff, VCV rack is a great option.
Does your Endorphin.es Milky Way have the noise issue I've heard a people complaining about?
Yeah sadly its incredibly noisy. It sounds great but it's almost unusable from a noise perspective.
@@RedMeansRecording :^(:^(:^(
I'm gonna try flashing it one more time with the newest firmwares but yeah. What a mess.
Tech no.
I noticed that you have to put blind panels next to skinny modules. This seems to defeat the purpose of making a low hp version of a module, lol. Still, that looks much easier to play.
Knobs are tiny and I need to grab them
@@RedMeansRecording I know exactly what you mean, that's why all my 2hp modules have migrated to the edge of the case or next to a module with a little blank space on the neighboring side, where i don't need tweezers to move the knob.
Also I have a bunch of stuff coming for that control skiff and needed placeholders :)
@@RedMeansRecording Nice! The modular jams have been top notch, I hope their karma brings you more (possibly free) modules so the cycle can continue.
Not that you really need new modules, but it's always fun to mix it up.
hi
But you didn't use Stages! It looks so lonely.
i know i know, i apologize
@@RedMeansRecording 😋 I have a stages and I'm brand new to it. Were you planning on possibly using it in this patch? If so, what could it have done for you?
Or maybe not! Love the video either way. Great jams
Stages works great as a step sequencer for parameters in the BIA. I also like it as a couple envelopes when I run out of my main ones. It's just a overall fun and useful module.
