For Assassins Creed this makes a lot of sense to do it in a shared universe format
Definitely agree that the best part about the Assassin's Creed movie was when they showed the past and unfortunately that was barely any of the movie. Also, they would keep cutting away from the action in the past to show him miming the actions in the present. What a stupid decision, just show us the action. We like Assassin's Creed for the different time periods, not the present day.
I enjoyed all the past scenes, especially since it wasn't in English but yeh, it was such a small part of the movie
I've always liked the present day bits. I liked it in the movie and the games. Though agree that cutting between the present day and past mid fight scene was a silly editing choice.
I hope it’s an anthology series with each season getting its own era
Makes sense for the show since it can focus on different characters through different seasons!
I’d suggest they start with Altair then maybe do one or two original characters in-between before getting to Ezio then repeating until they get to the Kenways. Could even do half a season with one and another half with another for characters with shorter stories.
I thought that too, but I'd rather multiple shows with each focused on the different eras. That way we could get more development and story out of each. For example one based on Origins would have the different seasons focused on Bayek taking down one of the members of the Order of Ancients.
Cast Charlie Hunman as Edward Kenway ! Take my money Netflix!
I would definitely get him right away, although let's not discard Matt Ryan also, who voiced and did the modeling of the character in the game
that's a brilliant fan cast
I don’t think they are going to do any of the assassins from the games say what you will about the movie but I think they were right not to focus on any of the characters from the games majorly as we know those stories ect
@@stichhavoc88 Especially at the possibility of them ruining them on the movie. And yes, it should definitely be an new setting and story, and also, I would prefer if it's two different guys as the avatar and the assassin, it really threw me off that it was Michael Fassbender as both, which didn't made the most sense to me
@@stichhavoc88 the movie and the games are in the same universe anyway
"Final season coming soon" - Netflix
Why
@@jamesward3859 what do u mean why?! Netflix's legacy of canceling shows
@@zionhacker1 You’re unfortunately right. Exact thing happened with daredevil 😔.
Netflix sucks
the thing that give me hope was they use the assassin's creed music in the reveal.
Witcher did fine. I think this is what they are planning to do with Assassin's Creed. There are few things I trust Netflix to not screw, and frankly they seem to do gritty, magical, period pieces well
I ACTUALLY LIKED THE 2016 MOVIE! It wasn't that Bad!
There is potential to have a good modern day story, Source Code got it right, Jake Gyllenhaal connected to a machine that transports him to a simulation but that being said they better keep modern day stories out of this. That was what really got me bored in the 2016 movie. It took up 80% of the runtime and what I actually wanted to see was about 15 minutes unlike Source Code where the majority of the movie is the simulation.
Exactly. Although it's important to highlight that the present day state of the story is important for the story. But I agree, it should be entirely a period piece
I hope they base live action show on Ezio, Altair, or The Kenway Family
I hope they use all new characters, honestly. We've already seen those stories.
@@leekaedan4956 Yeah, and as much as I love those characters. I think this series should be a different story, because if they end up trying to replicate them in live-action, it wouldn't work for them. And granted, it didn't worked for them on the movie, but I surely hope they can get it right here now that it's a series
Yes i want to see Edward on his ship
@@leekaedan4956 But the games have gotten so convoluted and gimmicky that I wouldn’t mind them recycling those characters for a show and doing more with them. The first AC seemed like a relatively short part of Altair’s life and subsequent games just kinda jumped around to major events. I believe Ezio is the only character we’ve seen from beginning to end and his end (in that lame animated short) was quite underwhelming. I say reuse some story beats but take the opportunity to really expand on the world and characters. I’d like the show to focus on the secret, centuries spanning war between Assassins and Templars beginning in the Middle Ages (I know they retroactively decided to go back further than that but that always seemed silly to me given that’s when the Templar Order began IRL).
@@________9915 I wouldn't mind seeing Connor again post-revolution. I still feel that the meaningful parts of Ezio and Altiar's lives were covered wonderfully in the first 4 games; Id want to see them back as side characters at most
I cannot wait for this series!!!
I don’t care what anyone says I really dug that assassins creed movie 😂 also I just can’t get into Netflix shows cause there just gonna cancel it on a cliffhanger two season in
I'm actually really excited about this plan going forward, like it was clear from the very beginning that something like Assassin's Creed should have been better suited for a TV format, because of the longevity of the story and the lore. Now John is completely right, it all definitely depends on the showrunner that can bring this story back to life again in a better way, and seeing that the people of Ubisoft have their hands fully at the project, they can select the ideal candidate to lead this new series, and hopefully learn from the mistakes of the movie. As for the story, I think I would go for a new and different setting, because as much as I love the settings and the well-known characters of the series, I think what has kept the series more sustained is their expanded universe of history in time with their settings and characters. Granted, they did that with the movie, but then again, here's hope that they can get learn from what didn't worked
The Curse is now Broken! The recent Movies have Turned it around Recently!
I agree that the past was the best part. I think they should focus on that wayyy more than the present day...maybe even get rid of present day
It's funny because I've been recently creating live-action fancasts for a potential AC series based around Origins and here it is. I can't wait. I do hope we get multiple shows based around the different eras. Man I am excited!
I feel like a series is a much better move for the Assassin's Creed franchise than a movie. I feel like with the stories the games tell a series is a better format to adapt those stories than a movie franchise
Thank god!!!! I have been saying since 2012 that AC is better suited to be a TV series than a movie. The games are very episodic, they have new settings and characters with every game, and they have an overarching present day storyline.
Now Netflix just needs to have the balls to do what Ubisoft won’t do and cast a woman as the main character.
my fav AC story is Evie Fry versus Jack the Ripper. Ubisoft at least had some balls there.
@@ukmediawarrior because earlier this year it was revealed that Ubisoft executives in charge of AC actively avoided women in lead roles because and I quote “Women in lead roles don’t sell video games.” Three examples.
1) AC Syndicate: The original plan was for both Jacob and Evie Frye to have an equal amount of main story missions, but they were ordered to cut Evie’s down by almost half because they thought fans would like a game with equal amounts of male and female lead missions.
2) AC Origins: The lead character of Bayek wasn’t the only lead, his wife Aya was supposed to have a bigger role and have more playable missions, but they cut that as well for the same reason.
3) AC Odessey: The team behind it wanted the sole lead character to be Kassandra, but they were told to add the option to either play as her or her brother Alexios, because they didn’t want the sole lead in an AC game to be a woman.
I didn't know gender was so important for AC.
@@deathsdoor07 the Assassins are supposed to stand for liberty and equality for all. But the franchise constantly shoves women to the side, and the executives at Ubisoft have actually physically and sexually harassed their employees more than any other major game company in the world.
@@seanfitzgerald8575 And so does Kassandra, the writers originally meant to have it be her who was the lead, you can tell when you play as her where the dialogue actually acknowledges her as a woman and gives that whole Woman in a Mans world feel.
I think this is something that would translate better in animated form
With the example of John Faveor leading the way with great movie directors becoming show runners I would love to see a Matthew Vaughn become the show runner.
This is Gonna be Epic to see Assassin's Creed in Television
Assassins Creed could be easily translated into a movie or TV show. You have a large enough world that you could set a story in it without interfering with your already established cannon.
The movie we got I have no idea why they decided to take the part of the game no one likes and make an entire movie set in that part.
I remember playing the first one thinking that if they made a sequel they could have cut out the entire Animus aspect and would enjoy it more.
A good adaptatipn of the story of Altair. There's plenty of story to tell about the levantine Brotherhood the REAL Assassins. And you can use elements of the book in which AC 1 is inspired The Alamut flesh out that story.
Flesh out the relationship between Malik and Altair. Make Al Mualim a strong antagonist. Use the extra runtime a series format gives you to trully flesh out the modern day and make it interesting. Give us Desmond again and make him do more than what he did in the original games. Do that. Give us what we loved about the games and flesh out the backstory and characters that might not have been explored in the games.
Also don't adhere exactly to what happens in the games, if there is a narrative chance to present things in somewhat different ways (ala GoT seasons 1-4) do it in order to keep it fresh. Be faithful but not boring. If you do it like this you're gonna have enough content for 8 seasons and happy fans as well as excited newcomers. These are my thoughts as an aspiring screenwriter and AC fan who has thought about this a little too much.
After the Cyberpunk 2077 news, I kinda needed good news like this.
This is the best way to do it.
Now im wandering how sonic the hedgehog and detective pikachu could be hollywood breakthrough on 2019 and 2020
I think I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic for now
Weiss and Beneoff from game of thrones! That be perfect
Get:
Madhouse
Or
Bones
Or
Ufotable
Or
David Production
For the anime assassin's Creed series.
That's why Stephen King liked putting his books on TV instead of theatre
Look at the homerun they did with the Witcher property. That show is bloody fantastic so I have high hopes that lightning may strike twice when it comes to adapting a videogame property to a netflix original series.
The Witcher is not a videogame property.
@@ptcarbonproductions2013 The Witcher videogame series is created by CD Project Red. They and the original author of the book series allowed Netflix to create a show based off of their property.
@@daisymae1341 Yes, but the show is primarily based on books. In my country it's on every poster.
We all know there will be two seasons and Netflix will cancel it.
That's assassins creed 2 Ezio music
they need to do it like castlevania
it will be epic
Netflix always calling their adult action cartoons that was animated and produced in America anime just to get anime fans to watch the shows 😂. It’s sad
Lmao. it's sad but it's the truth 😂
I wonder if this time they will use Woodkid Iron to sell the tone of Tv show
Get the guys who did the Witcher for Netflix and we'll be golden.
Does everything needs a shared universe?
Dam am I the only one that enjoyed the AC movie?
Each season should be a different time period/ different lead.
I fell asleep in the movie theater during Assassin’s Creed. I like the parts in the past. Hope the new series learns from that.
Would Steven Knight make a great showrunner for the AC franchise? He seem to have a knack for warring factions. I'd love to see his take on this.
It better have some sea shanties🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
I blame Ubisoft for the poor quality of the 2016 film. You have the man who directed Macbeth with Fassbender and Marion Cotillard and they all join this project but then waste their talents. There’s a reasons why the best parts of the movie are when they’re in the past during the Spanish Inquisition
I know got season 8 sucked but i truly beleive d.b weise and david benioff would make good showrunners
Shared universes work so well
and developing properties derived from a video game.
just printing money
Please make a Edward kenway season
Great. Let's hope it doesn't suck as bad as that Michael Fassbender film.
This could be epic if done correctly but it could also fail spectacularly if they don't learn the lessons from the film - the possibilities are endless as each season of a live action series could actually be based on the settings/era's from each of the individual games so we get to revisit the lives of Altair, Ezio, Bayek and Alexios/Kassandra.
It should primarily be based in the past with only some brief (and I do mean brief) skips back into the current day, I just hope that Netflix are willing to fully back a live action series as it could financially be a rather expensive proposition.
It's all going to depend on who leads the ship, and someone that can fit on Ubisoft's direction
If they announce Scott Buck as the showrunner I’m out!
Awesome!
Showrunners are producers in television industry
get charlie Hunnam to play Edwards and ill be sold
How about creating one good series and then see if you can create an expansive universe?!
Why did a lot of people put the Assassin's Creed movie on such a pedestal? That's the bigger question in my eyes.
Wait that movie was 2016???? 👀 how long have I been putting off watching it for?
In saying this though, they should scrap modern day for the show/movies and such. It’s not even good in the games anymore
Franchises can learn from their mistakes, definitely. Look at the Daredevil movie, that was complete rubbish in every way but Netflix redeemed it with the Daredevil TV Series staring Charlie Cox which is an absolute hit. Yes, the Assassin's Creed Movie was awful but Netflix can redeem the franchise with this because of how well they done 'The Witcher' with Henry Cavill. I am remaining optimistic but I am excited to see how it unfolds and as for the AC Universe, sounds promising but will have to wait and see.
Expectations are lower for t.v. than movie. Which is why Neflix shows seem better than their movies.
Prove to me world of warcraft wasn't lotf rings 4
Yes but do not have Fox put it out
Shared universes are becoming too much, even for me, but it makes perfect sense for Assassin’s Creed. Especially if they are doing anthology tv series.
John, if you think about, and probably count them down, there's a considerable number of good video-game based movies (not great, good). Also, Assassin's Creed is the best video-game adaptation so far.
You know, in the Desmond arc in Assassin's Creed games, which is the best story by far, always the things ocurrent in the present is more important that the adventures in the past. When the AC games lost that storyline that the protagonist in the present gave them, they became "empty adventure games." At least that's my opinion.
The first Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat were good movies. Not great, but they entertained their target audience.
I had a free ticket for the movie in theaters and the trailer made me hate it so much I didn’t even go
I still don’t regret it
That first trailer was a mess, like, a Kanye West song in Assassin's Creed?
@@Merdicano Unfortunately once that modern track started playing to what should have been an epic adventure trailer, it was a giveaway that the film would be a mess.
@@GlareBoxTV Indeed, like a complete giveaway, an unfitting giveaway to be precise
I want it then I'll subscribe to Netflix just for that 😁
Nothing is true..everything is permitted
live action assassin movie release date in 2024 today now yes 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Was interested when I heard assassins creed tv show... now I here shared universe tv show and I’m immediately turned off. Why does everything need to be a shared universe?
Warcraft was pretty good
I just never got the hate for video game movies too me most of them are good and most to all ppl in person i know feels the same its not till i get on social media i see all the hate shit i even like the 2016 movie not great at all but not every movie has to be great to like it. i feel the sequel would've been even better but i know its a opinion thing just wanted to say that before some dork cries too me about opinions but at the sametime i don't really take movies so personal so it doesn't hit me like most i guess lol
John Campea you're talking crap... You forget about the first Mortal kombat film....it didn't suck bruh
I thought Disney had the film rights to the series
They sold it after they terminated all plans for the sequel of the movie, along with the many projects they canceled due to the Fox acquisition. And thank God that it isn't in Disney's hands
@@Merdicano I love how people despise Disney but yet without them no studio would even dare take a chance with a shared universe concept Disney was the first and continues to be the leader When it comes to that
@@shinkisaragi4369 I'm having a bit of a love-hate relationship with Disney, and yes, I still watch the MCU movies and animated movies once in a while. And point made, they did the shared universe idea way ahead of all of them, so there's that
I liked the 2016 movie but I always enjoyed the present day storyline.
I liked the movie but after d died hated the present story line
@@mattbinkowski2095 Yes, me too. Now we have Layla but I still have no idea where that's going.
The problem with assassins creed In my opinion beside It being bad It WAS WAY to short, AC our very very long games that go into a lot of depth there like massive books there Is no way you can tell that story In 2 hrs.
Creed was 1,000 times better than Warcraft. Not as good as I wanted it to be but to say WoW is better makes me cringe. My 10 and 7 year old boys didn’t even like it.
Meh
