Seems to be a theme in AEW. Hook, Wardlow, Ricky Starks...The Acclaimed seem headed that route too. All these guys were massively over and undone by garbage booking.
Well TK thinks when you get wins that's elevating talent. I'd rather see Hook in a few good fueds and stories and lose than have a 30-0 record against nobodies and jobbers. That's why he's been cooling off. It's the booking more than Hook himself

time Team Tazz was mentioned Tazz gave a little spiel from the announcer desk about how Team Tazz is no more. In with a bang, muddled in the middle, out with a whimper.
That cycle's played out way too much at this point.
Hell, have Tazz be Hooks mouthpiece if he cuts a bad promo. Hook can just stand there looking menacing similar to Solo Sikoa for the next 6 months to a year and slowly build himself up that way. I’m sure Tazz would be honoured to manage his son and Tazz is still a pretty decent promo.
Being Taz’s son is not a personality or gimmick.
Remember when someone posed a question to Jim like 2 years ago asking who had more potential Dominik or Hook? Almost unanimous consensus was hook. How times have changed and the wild ways of booking.

Rampage was perfect to build Hook up. It could've been his show rack up wins. Eventually, he could've gone after the TNT title. He had all the hype and the fans behind him before even having a match.
It also should had been build up for ricky and hobbs as well

@Hidden Dagger I actually think swerve is one of the best heels in AEW. His facials, his grill, his promos. He comes off as a total scumbag. He could have been a main eventer and world champ easily but after jobbing to pockets.....

AEW is very good at debuts and reintroductions; it simply sucks you have to wait weeks to see if it’s worth anything

It not odd really its just Tazz low key burying the product like he has been doing for awhile now. The difference in how he commentates in AEW vs his tenures in WWE and TNA are very different. in AEW he just doesnt gaf and just jokes around most of the time not putting anything over and excalibur is too dumb/too much of a mark to notice. In those latter companies he put stuff over and actually pretended to care about what was going on.
I like Hook but I never expected him to jump ship because of his dad. But if he really does want that experience, I look forward to seeing Tyler Hooke in NXT
I don't see any star quality in Hook. His name is dumb, and his look is dumb. He is too thin and is no believable as a bad ass.
We went from "send Hook!" to "who's Hook?"
I think Hook got over instantly on his look/presentation alone. Total opposite with Dom, he had to alter it later on.
Hook got over before he wrestled a match or said a word. He was kind of doomed from the start and it was just a matter of time before people stopped caring once he was just another member of the roster. Him wrestling like his dad with only about 10% of the believability and 0% of his promo skills (Taz could talk) isn't helping things either.
Yeah Tazz in 96-98 looked like he could clear a fucking prison riot by himself. Hook? Lol he looks like a dork who plays video games all day.
Plot twist: Hook sent the email while working a foreigner gimmick to lower suspicion.

I’d take Taz off of commentary and have him be the mouthpiece for Hook. I know they sort of did this at the beginning of his run, but that was with Team Taz rather than with Hook on his own. Have a angle where someone beats him down over a period of weeks before Taz sees enough, takes his headset off and chokes out the attacker. He then goes on to be Hook’s mouthpiece and trainer which would be fine for a few months whilst Hook gets some promo training behind the scenes
He didn’t even do it for his original AEW stable, he kept going to the commentary table instead of keeping his ass at ringside. STUPID!

There’s been no added layers to whatever the HOOK persona is supposed to be. No established purpose or goal either.

Hook was a blank check that Tony tore up cause he's rich and has 100 blank checks on his toilet paper roll.
Hook needs to go to Booker T's school, tour other places like Japan, and get into NXT. AEW cannot develop talent, and some people seem to regress there.
I hear he wants to get into the fashion business or something like that, so he might just be collecting Tony's dad's money like everyone else.

Nice mention by brian of coney island high. Lots of good punk/hardcore shows seen and played there
Shawn Spears, AR Fox, Mike Sydal, Matt Sydal, Daniel Garcia, Wheeler Yuta, Ricky Starks, in that order, could have been a good series of opponents for Hook, with Ricky Starks being the one to beat him and then trade some wins and losses with, assuming fans didn't get really interested in someone earlier in the list first.
Everything Jim says always makes sense… I’d love to be in the position where I could write a genuine program for Hook because they should have figured out how over he become on his own without any promos or top level feuds… AEW have something with Hook… Jim if he was booking could have made Hook a star by now. AEW could do something massive when it comes time for the Owen Hart cup with Hook but they gotta get him to speak or explain why he doesn’t speak that often. Picture a semi final match with the undefeated Hook and someone like Punk who could take this kid to the next level of by some miracle he got a win over Punk, he then goes to the finals to face a monster (a credible monster I mean) who is twice his size, so despite getting a hard win over Punk he’s still the underdog in the final but they have no credible big guys, Archer hasn’t been seen for ages and when he is seen he’s easily beaten, Hobbs got the TNT title but was then beaten by Wardlow, Wardlow has dropped the TNT title more times than most people have won it, Vance (10) is just terrible, Rush can’t make anyone except himself look good after that match with jungle boy…
They could do video packages for Hook going into the Owen Hart Cup like they did for Dax Harwood last time, put Hook against a tough opponent like Dax or someone like him to qualify for the tournament, then in the last 8 put him against Jungle Boy (create the friends forced to fight each other story), in the last 4 put him against Punk… by this point the crowd are invested in him if you sell it right… then in the final against a monster so when he wins it against all odds having the toughest opponents to advance to the final to begin with, he’ll they could even use Moxley in the final, having Hook suplexing him everywhere, all kinds of suplex’s have him and Moxley go hell for leather (I only say Moxley because they’ve killed the credibility of every other monster), maybe Samoa Joe even… 🤷♂️

The thing I don't understand, is why Hook's old man isn't out there with him as his manager, that would probably be better for both of them than what they're doing now, his old man is ok as a commentator, BUT I think he'd be better off at ringside as a manager, much like Arn is better off at ringside than just working in the back.
When Hook first debuted EVERYONE was saying that AEW are booking the wrestler’s kid right and WWE were doing a horrible job with Dominic. Another example of how AEW are great at booking for a month or two then they don’t have a clue. To say Dominic is light years ahead of him now would be a huge understatement.
Impact would be a good option because Scott D’Amore would 1000% book him better

Sure. Vince needs somewhere to steal talent from. Most of the wrestlers in Japan are Mexico cannot speak English. AEW is a good stepping stone between the Indy's and NXT.

Don't care if he Tazz's son or not. Even at roughly 5'8, Tazz at least had some bulk and muscle to his frame. Hook has the body of a high schooler who could never win in a legit fight with anybody who's even remotely bigger than him. The very reason why I'll never take him seriously, no matter who he's related to in the business. Eat more, start hitting the gym, and get a damn personality. Maybe then I'll start paying more attention to the guy.
He's had absolutely no character development. Then again nobody on the roster has.

Hook has been on camera talking very briefly and he sounds like he's in High School; he doesn't have a very deep voice and it doesn't sound intimidating.
CM Punk is close with Taz and he even allowed Hook to come out after a Dynamite one night and choke him out, so Punk would be in Hook's corner and may be able to help him with Promos.
They could also let him stay with his dad (Taz). Get Taz to escort him to the ring then return to the comment or table and talk about him and his training

I think Hook doesnt have a wrestling business mentality, at least now. He seems like he isnt pushing for any tv time, doesnt have any creative push (either from himself or production/writers), no rivalry even though a few wrestlers have tried to start a rivalry with him, get finished in under two minutes and that was it. He has seen very very little resistance during matches (doesnt really work too much although he looks good selling when he does).
Maybe hes just needs a fresh push or something.

Hook got over because he was being made fun of by the AEW Smarkiverse. He was this mean looking middle schooler who never did anything, and then whoever was the one in the feud with Team Taz that said “Send Hook for all I care!” That got him over. Then he came out and looked decent and it got him over more. But let’s at least get this origin story correct. He was a joke that the fans were making, and now he’s just another victim of AEW bungling, I mean booking.
