    • @ThinkYourHealth
      @ThinkYourHealth  Pƙed 3 lety

      Thanks.Usually the intense pain is sharp resulting from spasms caused by a stone stuck in the ureter.The whole back seizing up would be more muscular if I hear that description.Obviously, the differential diagnosis is longer for the symptom you described.

    I have a 8mm kidney stone on the left side, 2 gallbladder stones/polyps, and 2 simple liver cyst.
    The kidney stone is 8mm in size. Can cause pain when moving around inside? Of course I recently discovered this after my recent ultrasound results.

    • @ThinkYourHealth
      @ThinkYourHealth  Pƙed 3 lety

      Yes, pain can be caused when the stone travels down the ureter.Regarding your 8 mm stone discuss with your physician what the options are as for it to pass spontaneously is less likely.The treatment for gallbladder stones vs gallbladder polyps is different.Stones in the gallbladder, if asymptomatic can be monitored.If the diagnosis is gallbladder polyps the management is different as it depends on the size of the polyps in your gallbladder.The bigger the polyp in your gallbladder the more likely it would be malignant.for example gallbladder polyps which are 10-20 mm in size can be malignant.Since I am not your Doctor and your Doctor has access to your whole medical history, have that discussion with him or her so you can get the most appropriate advice.The information provided here is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. It should not be used in place of the advice of your physician or other qualified healthcare providers.

    • @ThinkYourHealth
      @ThinkYourHealth  Pƙed 3 lety

      There are no set rules, but on an average if the stone is less than 2 mm usually within a week, if up to 4mm about 30 days, if it is more than 5mm it might take 1-2 months or even longer especially if it is over 7mm in size as it might take several months.If it is more than 10mm (1cm) in size you would need a medical and or surgical intervention. Can stones over 10 mm spontaneously pass. Of course, there are always exceptions to what I have said and stones this size have passed but are rather the exception than the rule.

    • @ThinkYourHealth
      @ThinkYourHealth  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      Your body still see this stone( although non obstructive) as foreign and a inflammatory cascade is triggered to try to get rid of this stone.Inflammatory responses in your body involve inflammatory metabolites which can cause pain.Once it does start moving you might experience more pain & symptoms.

      A transurethral cystolitholapaxy is the most common procedure used to treat adults with bladder stones.During this procedure a surgeon inserts a tube with a camera at the end into your urtehra.In this way the Doctor can visualize your bladder and stones.Another procedure would be Percutaneous suprapubic cystolitholapaxy.Here a tube is inserted into a cut in the bladder so stones can be safely removed.Laser or ultrasound can be use to help fragment the stones.This will be done using a general anaesthetic.Another procedure would be open cystostomy( usually done with men with a larger prostate).Here the surgeon does a larger cut in your abdomen to help remove the stones.
      Continue to hydrate well.Depending on the kind of stone alkalization of the stone using potassium citrate.However, the pH has to be raised to above 6.5.If alkalization is too aggressive it can lead to other problems such as the build up of calcium phosphate deposits.There is a medication called renacidin which has to be used with indwelling catheters, but requires irrigation of the bladder, looking for signs of infection and continues hydration by the patient.The method mentioned before is used for struvite or phosphate stones.

    Dr yesterday my father experienced sudden pain in lower right side at the back.. he has right kidney stone.. which was detected today!! But yesterday all of a sudden he felt extreme pain .. nausea sweating... and then we took him to the hospital where he was given some injection now the pain is completely gone!! He was not able to pee at that moment then he was given a glass of water to drink then he was injected and after that pain disappeared and he was able to pee!! Today in ultra sound a small stone was detected at the right side of kidney!! So my question is was that because of that stone?? Or something else?? I waz expecting a large stone as he was not abel to pee ..did that stone came out of the body? Or this is something else because his urine test are normal... he has enlarged prostate gland also... pls tell what it actually is!!??

    I went to my doctor and was treated with a Rocephin shot and two different antibiotics for a UTI, but I was so nauseated and I’m so much pain I didn’t think to ask if they did a culture bc I’ve gone through my antibiotics and I still have the chills and severe pain my back, side, and even into my lower abdomen and groin. Sometimes I get a sharp stabbing feeling that feels as if it’s inside my ureters... I’m thinking that should’ve cleared a very bad UTI up. I’m praying I’m not passing kidney stones...and I’m so tired.

    Had all of these symptoms except nausea but said no stones? Said it was mesentric adenitis?

      If it is mesenteric adenitis symptoms would be self limiting and you should be getting better in a couple of days..Usually seen in younger individuals.
