  • On Wednesday 6th April we travelled from Manchester to New York JFK via London Heathrow with British Airways.
    The flight (BA177) was operated by a Boeing 747-400, registered G-BYGA, one of BA's newest 747's which made its first flight on 4th December 1998.
    This 747 was fitted with British Airways new interior which was very impressive and comfortable. If you would like to find out more about their new economy, please check out our trip report from this flight: • British Airways (New E...
    The Boeing 747 itself was amazing to fly on, a great experience that will never be forgotten. The sound from their Rolls Royce RB211 engines was truly amazing. The 747 is such a historic aircraft, named 'The Queen of the Skies'.
    The flight itself was very impressive, around a 7 hour flight from London Heathrow to New York. We left LHR just 15 minutes late, climbing out over south west England before heading out over Ireland and then across the Atlantic before following the east coast of the USA down to JFK where we landed on runway 22L shortly after 3pm on a nice sunny, but cold New York day. The service onboard was very impressive and i overall had a very good flight with British Airways.

    Well that's a sight you don't see at JFK anymore......not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 British Airways 747's at the same time!!!! That was awesome. And the Etihad A380 takeoff was an awesome sight to see also. I sure do hope they bring that beautiful A380 back to JFK sometime next year or hopefully in 2025.🤞🏻🤞🏻✈️

    I used to enjoy just laying on the beach for hours on Long Island, didn’t really matter which one, and just watch the heavys on their way to JFK. I won’t be seeing that anymore, sadly.

    The outer casing of the engines looks unusual; it looks like a Boeing 707 casing!

    If I could chose to fly 747s, it would be the Iran Air 747SP or 747-200, KLM or this one!! Those RB211s are just such good engines!!! Very nice video!!

    the impression I've had of BA these days is they're more "stuffy" or "pompous" like those in anything below Club Class is "beneath" them...As they're my own country's main airline I would like to fly with them again, but these days not so sure

    • @MTAviation

    Whats ATC?

    • @tkara1980
      @tkara1980 Před 2 lety +1

      ATC - Air Traffic Control. Radio communication between the control tower (air traffic controller) and aircraft (pilots/captains). In this case JFK tower and the Speedbird.

    The 400 series did not have winglets when it was first introduced, they must have been added on later...

    • @daveglover6115
      @daveglover6115 Před 7 lety +3

      BA 747 400s all had winglets...

    • @redblade43
      @redblade43 Před 7 lety

      dave glover I did not know that winglets have been in use on commercial flights as early as the mid-1980s. The Boeing 747 400 series entered service in 1989, so you are correct, it probably did have winglets, even that far back in time.

    • @darrell190967
      @darrell190967 Před 7 lety +1

      That was probably the -300 series or 743, it had the extended upper deck, but was more like the classic types as opposed to the -400
