@@LaMarcGasoldridge it's not uncommon even today for shows to use a first season to appease corporations for more seasons, steven universe did it, owl house is doing it, amphibia just did it. What I mean to say is, third seasons for cartoons are normally when they're either concluded or considered safe, because you don't have to worry about cancelation or audience interest anymore.

in my opinion, adventure time was one of the very few shows that actually understood that they're main audience would be growing up and tried to mature the storyline w them.
i remember always being able to bare watching adventure time all the way until it's last episode.
I was entering middle school when it came out and entering college when it ended, the last episode had me bawling my eyes out
i didnt catch onto the storyline when i was younger and only like four-five seasons were out because my father only had season one and two on his terrible computer. only then when i got hulu two years ago did i think of it, and since them, i cant stop re-watching it. it MAY be a problem-

I personally find it really interesting how Prismo grants wishes. When you wish for something big like “all people dead” or “no magic” it won’t just poof those wishes into existence, instead Prismo creates an entire ALTERNATE DIMENSION that’s exactly the same as your dimension but with alterations made to make your wish possible, so instead of poofing magic away since it’s a fundamental part of that universe, he orchestrated events to make it so that there wouldn’t be any noticeable trace of it until the reality starts being traveled through. The Lich’s wish was probably the same way, likely creating a dimension where the Mushroom War ended up killing all life on the planet as a result of the Fallout instead of the weird magic radioactive life we see in the show
It’s just a fascinating little Monkey’s Paw style way of granting wishes and I love it

Well, the ironic twist here is that the lich had to spend YEARS in this wolrd alone after killing everyone, with no hope for getting to another world to kill more people.

adventure time is my absolute favorite and most important piece of media in my life. I grew up side by side with finn and i watched the whole world, the story, the characters, everything, mature, and that’s beautiful.

Correction, Betty stayed behind true, but she didn't wish to be Glob. She wished Glob to perish but the crown couldn't do such a heavy wish so she instead wished for the power to keep Simon safe. So the crown transformed her _into_ Glob. Little details but still...

Thank you for making such a fun and detailed summary of this show. I stopped watching it a while back and every time I tried to understand the story/timeline it got super confusing. I cried when Jake and Finn got reincarnated together. They may be gone but adventures will never end.

She was a demon who could absorbs souls. She didn't become a vampire until she was bitten while killing the king(both times)
She only turned back into a vampire because she was bitten again by the king vampire normally she is just a demon with the ability to suck souls which she uses to such the essence of the vampires
If she managed to kill and absorb all the vampires essence without being bit then she would be safe from being a vampire

Cosmic entities in the show talk about it a lot and both King and Marcy have that conversation up in the sky about how no matter what they do or how they try to change it the loop of life, death and mistakes always go round and round without fail

@@9nikolai fair enough, I just feel like some of the stuff mentioned had higher plot relevance like the stuff with the lemongrab's and Karas backstory, both events that let us peer into the past and the future of the timeline.
Been watching this show with my girlfriend. I never experienced Adventure Time as a kid and she showed it to me about a year and a half ago. We’ve been savoring it and just got to the final season. I’m gonna be sad when we finish it but holy hell, watching it makes me happy and fills me with an odd sense of nostalgia despite never having witnessed it back when it was still running.
I watched the older seasons when I was younger and never finished I’m glad I’m older now and rewatched it and understood the themes and emotions and watching together again was so sad but a great ending for the show
3:11 Marceline wasn't a vampire yet. She became one after killing the vamp king and getting bitten in the process when she was around 17-20. As a kid she's just a half demon child who's dad was a deadbeat and mom died from illness complications. It's actually a big part of her backstory

I remember the first episode that really had an impact on me is with the zombie candies. What really got me on that episode is when Finn covered himself in the antidote and it’s implied that he threw himself onto the zombies and was eaten.
And I died when Jake got bitten by the zombie and had to run around a circle to get away from the mark.
That's the first episode of the first season, so this show had a really quick impact on you. :)

@Adrian Scott the first episode was a different zombie plot, though they may have been related. In the first episode, pb is trying to reincarnate candy people. It goes wrong and they turn into zombies. Pb explains to fin that candy people explode when they get scared, so fin throws a party for all of the candy citizens while pb makes an antidote.
The most memorable episode of adventure time was the one with a deer who shattered finn's legs, comatosed jake, put them both into a 6 month(ish) coma, only for finn to wake up to a barren candy kingdom, jake turned out to be bat shit crazy and the kingdom were trapped under the sewer the whole time. Its all because of the deer in the beginning. AND THAT THING CAN DE-HOOVED ITSELF LIKE IT WEARING GLOVES
Yeah earlier episodes are just so cuckoo I literally convinced myself that episode wasn't real and it was all a fever dream
One of the funniest scenes I broke down laughing at was when Finn and Jake and hiding inside Marceline's home and Jake gets bit by the spider. His silent scream of agony killed me xD

It's insane how much the story evolved with time. This show was so iconic and legendary.
Keep in mind that if Adventure Time does pitched to Nickelodeon, then the show could've done different from what we got now.
Adventure Time is like a trooper to CN alongside with Regular Show and Gumball. These shows are also responsible for saving the Network and get rid of CN Real.
I'm glad I grew up with those 3 shows and Gravity Falls and Steven Universe. Nickelodeon was Barren during the 2010's It only had it's live action sitcoms which I enjoyed

They *DID* pitch to Nickelodeon, it got rejected. That must feel like being the record companies that rejected the beetles.
Imagine when Ooo gets reset from the elemental segregation, all the candy people are reverted to humans. Revealing Princes Bubblegum as the main villain that wiped out all the humans and turned them to candy people as well as causing the sickness with his mom. Would have made for a far more interesting ending in my opinion, had the writing been there.

I genuinely cried during the end of Together Again. It was pretty much my favorite ending to a show. Made me sad and happy at the same time because I really love these twos relationship so much. I don't think there will ever be a bromance quite like it and I'm good with it.

You could never say enough about this show, I still encourage people to watch it because it’ll blow your mind on how much it brings you in no matter what age you are, it’s beautiful and you only understand it if you start it

This was a good recap, but I wish you had more time to talk about the small details, like how Gunther didn't just wish to become an ice elemental, he wished to become Evergreen, the man who he looked up to but had berated him his entire life. The first and only thing Gunther says when putting on the crown is "Gunther no" over and over. The crown doesn't just turn Simon into an ice elemental, it turns him into a perverse caricature of a long-dead figure, yet a shadow of a shadow of the man still remains, as Ice King keeps Simon's desire for his "princess" Betty. We see that the elementals keep roughly similar personalities, as both Evergreen and Patience St. Pim tried to save themselves from the comet, so for her to interact with Ice King is like looking in a thousands year old fun house mirror, one she doesn't even recognize.
Also how with Prismo Jake tried to wish for a sandwich instead of saving Finn
Well, Evergreen tried to save everyone by destroying The Lich Meteor before it hit Earth. Patient St. Pim just retreated into The Depths of The Ocean to avoid getting nuked by a Lich Hydrogen Bomb.
Actually, Marceline didn't become a vampire until AFTER Simon left her. She was always half demon, though.
The lich really went “I always come back”

I remember really loving the episode where we see Finn's previous incarnations as well as the super depressing Lemonhope episodes. Those episodes and everything dealing with Princess Gumball's... dubious history were my favourite parts of the show.
Time to continue this amazing trilogy

The past years this series was on tv I have seen glimpses of episodes, they were a lot of the time not in order and I didn't watch it everyday. I sometimes just tuned in.

I wanted this show to go on forever but all good things must come to an end.
You kinda just skipped the whole arc with King of Ooo taking over the candy kingdom around season 6/7 though, it has a lot of plot relevance.
The reason they start calling her Bonnibel instead of Princess Bubblegum is because she isn't a Princess anymore, her power was usurped by KoO and she was chilling in that Cabin because she got kicked out of her original home.
KoO's irresponsibility is also part of the reason Gunther is able to leave the planet

The Ice King reveal was the entire reason I started watching Adventure Time. Kinda wish I could've watched it and been surprised about it, but sometimes I need to know the big twist to get interested in a thing.

Grass Finn is withering away after the Grass Demon inside him died, because that Grass Demon WAS the curse put on Finn's grass sword he got all those seasons ago. The Grass Demon was the only thing giving Fern his physical form and without it, all that's left would be Finn's consciousness from the Finn sword which doesn't have a physical form.
i love this so much, adventure time is basically drugs without the drugs, and it feels so warming for some reason, like your spending time with friends.

Just watching this it makes adventure time seem like a completely nonsensical show but I absolutely love it. Most of the show is one off stories that are tbh the best part of it. Yes the world growth and character backstory is great as well but when I think of adventure time I think of single episodes that I just love

I had always wanted to watch the entire series of Adventure Time. I watched some episodes when it first came out as a kid up until season 3 or 4, then fell off after I stopped watching TV. Years later, after see and hearing about how much depth the series had after I fell off made me really want to watch it. Finally, last year, I did it. Definitely a series that I hope will stick with me for the rest of my life.
I assure you, it will. It's once you realize how many times a day you quote it, that you'll look back and smile.

The Lich wasn't necessarily created by the Mushroom Bomb, his essence was brought to earth as the green Catalyst Comet (a comet that hits earth every 1000 years and "brings an agent of change") we see in the Evergreen episode and the Bomb just allowed his essence to show up as the Lich. Since the universe decided that since this being of pure evil was on earth, there should also be a being of pure good and it sent the blue Comet to earth which reincarnated as a butterfly, a fleshy triangle, Shoko, and then Finn. Orgalorg tried to eat the yellow and purple comets because they, being Catalyst Comets, were holding insane power. The purple comet was essentially god that has been around for ages, experienced everything or nearly everything, and is the embodiment of good and bad. The yellow Comet is officially unknown but some theorize it to be intelligence since it would lead to the creation of humans and thus Finn, a being that can defeat the lich, or it could be Jake which would reincarnate as a companion to the blue comet to ensure that they don't fail in their quest to make the powers even out.
I'd love to see one of Infinity Train... cut too short! It needs more recognition, easily best CN show ever

This was a great video. You did an excellent job explaining the plot, in such a short period of time too. I do wish there was more on the reincarnations that Finn and Jake had in these types of videos. Especially when you consider, they chose to be reincarnated to find each other again. That is likely why many of Finn's reincarnations were as a pair.
