Assuming both the USAbat and Mako bat are composite, doesn't it make a difference if the Mako is 1 year old and is more broken in than a brand new USAbat?
I suspect it was also driven by safety, they just can't say that or they open themselves up to lawsuits, if they, by admitting the new bats were made to create a safer game, would now have to take responsibility for the old bat standard. By they I mean the governing bodies of LL baseball and bat manufacturers.
Honestly its kinda stupid that they have to change something for players safety the sports safe enough its the players being dumb besides line backs to the pitcher which instincts take over
It's awesome because now the spoiled rich kids don't get a distinct advantage of a hot bat at the price of 350+ dollars when poor Rudy is cranking doubles with his target bat. They are supposed to be more like wood and this test confirmed it.
Thanks for the video. I would have LOVED to have heard the kid compare them. What did he think about how they hit differently, etc... Outside of that, a good number of swings from the same kid helps see the difference. Running speed just got more valuable.
They are designed to give a wood like performance..... Get used to it because your days of having a hot bat advantage are over. Better work on your mechanics and adapt or be left behind.
Explains a little bit why there are so many HR's in the LLWS. I feel bad for kids who have to switch to USA bats. Also, no credit will be given to those who hit well with USSSA bats. But what nobody will compare is LL pitching and high level USSSA tournament pitching.
This just goes to show you how bad kids these days are at swinging bats. When I grew up playing baseball, we trained on wood bats to learn how to swing properly and hit the ball where you are supposed to hit it.
None of you guys know what you're talking. Some of the most talented young players are playing today. If you want a good swing learn to use your body that bat really doesn't make much difference
This is interesting because from everything Iv looked into says the USA bats function more like wood, and my son plays travel ball so they use usssa bats but a conversation I had with another dad is I dont mind the usa bats cause eventually all our boy will have to move to bbcore style then wood bats but most people want to buy that big hit.. my son swings wood all day for practice then during the games he can swing anything.. but my point of this being interesting is that the usa bat and the wood seemed to perform the same at least with this batter.. but like I tell my son swing wood and focus on mechanics because if you can swing and hit with wood you can swing and hit with anything
I have been using that same 2 1/4 Easton mako for 3 years now and have been batting 500. And over ever since I got it but it lost its pop and I have to give it up😢😭😪
Let's keep it real guys, a good wood Maple bat will knock em crazy far. Some of the farthest mlb home runs were from wood bats. THE REASON people think metal bats are better, is because they require less skill. Plain and simple. They have larger sweet spots, less repercussion into the hands, and are lighter. Wood bats require form, precision, and technique to hit homers. I've hit a ball just above the handle on a metal Easton and knocked it over a 240' fence, yet my longest was a 320' fence with a wooden Rawling 325 Maple for 50
Your right, but I've hit with BBCOR and wood bats before and both have about the same pop, but it is much harder to hit the sweet spot on the wood bat.
My oldest son had a 2016 mako xl usssa, that model had some major pop. Our 12u rec team last year broke 5 usssa bats in two weeks, all of them were Easton makos. The ball would certainly trampoline off those bats. I’m very unimpressed with the USA bats I’ve seen so far. They have long handles, short sweet spots, thick barrel material, some of them vibrate really bad. In my opinion this wasn’t a good change and it’ll drive even more kids out of recreation ball into travel.
I did a science fair excitement on this and my maple jb19 got an average distance of 213.275 feet and my demarini c.f. den got an average distance of 213.1 feet
Well USSSA bats are easy to hit with Ill say that I've used one in my league and I would get 2 hits a game and easily get a home run as well, now I've haven't used the new USABat since I haven't bought one but i will since my season banned wood, and the usssa bats, and another thing is that Ive always used wood in till I had to switch when I joined my league I hated that ;-; but the aluminum is alright I still get 1 to 2 decent hits a game depending.
I think its the feel, my 9 yr old just started practicing with ash wood bat and he prefers it over his old s500 and new velo. From what im guessing he feels with the extra weight theres more balance and control through the zone. He says the old bat is waaaaay to light now.
Oh why oh why did myth busters have to retire I would love to watch them build a rig that takes the human elements out. Also I will add that the bat companies are doing exactly what they are supposed to. Finally the rich kids don't get the insane advantage of a hot bat.
Why not use wood all the time? Using metal kind of ruins your swing and you have to make changes when you transition. It took me about a year to fix my metal bat swing . Might as well just swing wood
@Douglas Brown they have wood composite bats that don't break. Mine lasted 4 years before the end cracked. Also Baum bats might last even longer. You can get a composite wood bat for less money than most metal bats.
Would you guys stop telling the kid how to swing he seems like his dad and coaches help with him the kid is unreal hitting so kid keep doing what your doing
Thanks for pointing this out. It is remarkable how many people fail to realize this is a bat review channel, not a 'we want advice from noobs about hitting channel.'
Why in the hell does nobody acknowledge demarini bats anymore!?I use a demarini and first time i got it i dint even like it but now i use it every game every practice i hit bombs with it get you're son out on the field with one of those and he will drop bombs trust me!
Ethan Elbert at least somebody knows how good of quality demarini bats are. They have so much pop.I use the demarini cf zen.Keep using demarinis they are the best bats
He pulls out to much and is off balance and he swings way to hard he needs to work on swinging and keeping his shoulder in and staying more 50/50 not 30/70
As we've written about 1,000 times on this channel, we are not looking for hitting advice and this isn't a hitting channel---never claims to be. We have no idea why so many people like to practice their psuedo-internet hitting coach advice on this channel. But, alas. It is. This is about bats, not about swings. And if we were looking for hitting advice, we sure wouldn't put it out to the throws of CZcams... :) But thanks for watching anyways! :)
We never hear anything about the baseballs they use. Those LL balls are duds. There are different balls for the Juniors on the big field than the LL boys do. I suspect they have a harder core.
Give me a bat and I'll hit a dinger. Mabeye not off live pitchers throwing curveballs but off a pitching machine as slow as that it would not be tough to hit dingers
As we've written about 1,000 times on this channel, we are not looking for hitting advice and this isn't a hitting channel---never claims to be. It is a bat channel about bats. But, thanks for watching!
It's so sad that those Makos are worthless now. Such a great bat.
It’s not the bats fault
Assuming both the USAbat and Mako bat are composite, doesn't it make a difference if the Mako is 1 year old and is more broken in than a brand new USAbat?
Good question. We did work in the USAbat with about 200+ hits. Should have mentioned that in the video.
I think we all knew what bat would win.. isn't the new bat standard about young players safety than hitting home runs?
Gotch 71 got that right ,it ain't about pop bats like the mako. It's about safety and leveling the field
It's more about leveling the field. To make hack n whack homeruns.
I suspect it was also driven by safety, they just can't say that or they open themselves up to lawsuits, if they, by admitting the new bats were made to create a safer game, would now have to take responsibility for the old bat standard. By they I mean the governing bodies of LL baseball and bat manufacturers.

Do expensive USA bat vs cheap usssa bat
Cheap usssa bats are better than all USA bats
number 32 I know I used A 50 dollar usssa bat And a 250 Dollar USA bat And the usssa bat is way better
usssa is better usa has a maxuim and you know what the maxum of usa is the minum requiremtns of exit velo for usssa so any ussa is better then any usa
What’s the pitching machines name we are looking for one and that one looks great
Thanks for the video. I would have LOVED to have heard the kid compare them. What did he think about how they hit differently, etc... Outside of that, a good number of swings from the same kid helps see the difference. Running speed just got more valuable.
Those USA bats sound terrible, almost sounds like you're hitting rocks with it :-(
B
so true
So true i have one obivoily and when I hit on the tee its like crap
There not supposed to be really good bats
They are designed to give a wood like performance..... Get used to it because your days of having a hot bat advantage are over. Better work on your mechanics and adapt or be left behind.
Explains a little bit why there are so many HR's in the LLWS. I feel bad for kids who have to switch to USA bats. Also, no credit will be given to those who hit well with USSSA bats. But what nobody will compare is LL pitching and high level USSSA tournament pitching.
delcy28 I like USA bat
Stfu because when u hit a home fun 285 ft with a -5 usssa then u can start talking sh*t
Sorry wrong comment I replied on bro
@@tylersledge5588 279 is considered enormous
I had a USA bat till I got to travel ball and I hit Homer's with it
Just curious how far is the fence and how old is the kid?
What’s that pitching machine called we are looking one and that’s one looks great
This just goes to show you how bad kids these days are at swinging bats. When I grew up playing baseball, we trained on wood bats to learn how to swing properly and hit the ball where you are supposed to hit it.
When I was younger my AAA team did that, everyone on my team now has a perfect swing.
i’ve been using bbcor for 2 years, and i find it way more fun than the USSSA shit, and i’m not even in high school
Ya, i totally agree because he pops everything out and needs to roll it more to correct that
None of you guys know what you're talking. Some of the most talented young players are playing today. If you want a good swing learn to use your body that bat really doesn't make much difference
Wes 4511 correct
Would like to see an Alloy vs. that Ghost.
His swing is so slow
That was the point of the new bat rules right?

Love ur channel
I love the old 2 1/4 bats
awesome video BTW as always
Been watching for while
How old is the hitter
Anyone else think he sounds like dodger films
Wow... this video explains a lot. Next can u compare 2 USA bats. Easton vs Rawlings?
yea. might get the 5150 for 84 bucks
The balls that go over the fence are always when his body moves back when he swings
Maybe if you had a good hitter you could have a good "bat digest"
Another great video .. showing it where counts On the field 👍🏽
This kids swing is just brutal
Kid is boutta tear his rotater cuff in his after swing

The only difference between the USA bat and the wood bat is the sweet spot the wood bats sweet spot is a lot smaller.
Dingers4days or maybe the fact the wood has no bpf?
Your right, but I've hit with BBCOR and wood bats before and both have about the same pop, but it is much harder to hit the sweet spot on the wood bat.

That kid batting is strong af
How old is he
That looks like a 2 1/4 wood bat. I wonder if a 2 5/8 wood bat would outperform the 2 5/8 USABat.
Definite Fiction i would watch it
might be closer to BBCOR than other bats but it’s still a drop 10
I did a science fair excitement on this and my maple jb19 got an average distance of 213.275 feet and my demarini c.f. den got an average distance of 213.1 feet
Good swing stay ferm with the wood you would hit it a lot harder
Well USSSA bats are easy to hit with Ill say that I've used one in my league and I would get 2 hits a game and easily get a home run as well, now I've haven't used the new USABat since I haven't bought one but i will since my season banned wood, and the usssa bats, and another thing is that Ive always used wood in till I had to switch when I joined my league I hated that ;-; but the aluminum is alright I still get 1 to 2 decent hits a game depending.
Can someone explain why I am better with wood than USSSA bats?
Indy_ Boy may be the way you hit or your bat is not good
I think its the feel, my 9 yr old just started practicing with ash wood bat and he prefers it over his old s500 and new velo. From what im guessing he feels with the extra weight theres more balance and control through the zone. He says the old bat is waaaaay to light now.
Front foots falling back great vid though
Eli Michaelis yeah he needs to keep his back foot still
Its a mako the bat wasnt made corectly
these are not even going over the fence ?
Dylan Morales are u stupid did you Pay attention in the start of the video smh
The real test here was between the wood and the USA bat
Oh why oh why did myth busters have to retire I would love to watch them build a rig that takes the human elements out. Also I will add that the bat companies are doing exactly what they are supposed to. Finally the rich kids don't get the insane advantage of a hot bat.
At least the USA bats make you work for home runs unlike the usssa bats
they make baseball boring
Nick5001 It’s a drop 10
I never asked that question
Nick5001 You never asked any question
Luke Jessen then just watch homerun do league....
Are they bbcor?
Home* sry i had to plz pin though😄
They but it 200 for a homer I think that is a little to easy I would put it at least 230
Why not use wood all the time? Using metal kind of ruins your swing and you have to make changes when you transition. It took me about a year to fix my metal bat swing . Might as well just swing wood
Ryan Allen I swing a wood bat the same as a metal bat can’t relate
@Douglas Brown they have wood composite bats that don't break. Mine lasted 4 years before the end cracked. Also Baum bats might last even longer. You can get a composite wood bat for less money than most metal bats.
Do you pay for all these bats???
Raymon Danna he definitely doesn't... Of course
Unreal at hitting off a pitching machine not live pitchers throwing mid 60s at 12 and 13 years old
Pretty good for not wearing cleats. I would be slipping all over that box
You need a demarini
Why in the hell does nobody acknowledge demarini bats anymore!?I use a demarini and first time i got it i dint even like it but now i use it every game every practice i hit bombs with it get you're son out on the field with one of those and he will drop bombs trust me!
Clutch wadkins 48 I only use my Demarini voodoo and I’ve already hit 6 home runs and one was over a 250 fence
Ethan Elbert at least somebody knows how good of quality demarini bats are. They have so much pop.I use the demarini cf zen.Keep using demarinis they are the best bats
Clutch 48 I like them and kids on my travel team have them but they crack really easily but all in all they have a lot of pop
It’s the batter not the bat
Kid doesn’t keep his swinging form but still has some good power
It bothers me how he only pulls it
Except when he doesn't pull It like several of his Home Runs that went to center or left center. Which video did you watch?
I dont care what bat you use if that ball goes over that fence
I've hit more homeruns with a wood than any other bat
U gey
Rvy
Yo stop pulling out stay inside
These r pop flys
If I here one more person say USA bat, it’s usssa
*hear
USA Bat and USSSA bat are different organizations. USA bats is managed by USA Baseball. USSSA is the United States Specialty Sports Association.
Bat Digest I thought both the bats you used today say usssa on them
Bat Digest or do they have different stamps on them
Bat Digest you should also do a video on the zinger wood bat
He pulls out to much and is off balance and he swings way to hard he needs to work on swinging and keeping his shoulder in and staying more 50/50 not 30/70

You need to break in the wood bat first
This kids swing is just flat out bad
My grandma can hit 200
We never hear anything about the baseballs they use. Those LL balls are duds. There are different balls for the Juniors on the big field than the LL boys do. I suspect they have a harder core.
Give me a bat and I'll hit a dinger. Mabeye not off live pitchers throwing curveballs but off a pitching machine as slow as that it would not be tough to hit dingers
He needs to stop whipping his head arround that helped me 👍
Terrible swing
he's a kid, not an mlb pro. grow up
If his body didn't turn into a Noodle after he made contact and he stayed balenced during his swing, he would mash the crap out of the ball.
charlie reed true
Stfu u don’t know anything
Jay Five55 2 at least he’s giving advise your not helping at all. you can’t tell me that’s not true about his body
I'm 12 and play on a 50/70 300ft field so it's just a little harder but great video
kids got a nice hack
First
Horrible swing😂
As we've written about 1,000 times on this channel, we are not looking for hitting advice and this isn't a hitting channel---never claims to be. It is a bat channel about bats. But, thanks for watching!
Kid has the worst swing ever
All he can do is pull. Never going to make or start a high school team if he keeps doing that.
your acting like he isnt 11 or something... dude has plenty of time to turn things around
Just constructive criticism. What’s wrong with that?
He’s 11 doing a homerun derby. He’s not trying to hit it oppo lmao.
Jyden Schmid yea expect an 11 year old to go opo in a hr derby 💀
I think you should watch Mike Moustakas hit
i sent you a email!!
His swing is sad
I’m 12 and hit 250 with wood
Sorry trieing not to flex
USA bats are junk. USA bats are definitely a sub-par standard. Baseball is going to be so boring to watch at the little league level.
The standard is wood. These bats still represent an inflated number of quality at bats based on larger sweet spots.
David Forbes totally agree, once you get to bbcor wood has more pop
lol this isnt a fair comparison those makos are lodaed i hit a tank like 330 with a skinny barrel when i was twelve
