Just to make it clear, this lady is obviously living an upper class/luxurious lifestyle. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, it’s awesome honestly. With that said, this is not the average cost of living of Kenya. This lifestyle is for those who can afford and sustain it. However, you can also live very comfortably on a much cheaper budget.
@@spacemank6070, did you respond to the wrong comment? Lol. Your response doesn't match what this person said at all.
Also, there are plenty of Americans who don't come from luxury, and others, still, who may or may not come from luxury but want a simpler existence in line with the locals.
It depends where your living, you can find cheaper place and good,
Tafuta pesa nani 😂😂
I'm always looking to pay less for rent...why pay more, is the way I figure. As long as I have a safe, clean place to sleep, I'm fine.@@spacemank6070

As a regular Kenyan, your budget for 1 month can take me for a year, with change. Mind you I support my parents and siblings as well. Good for you. 👏👏

I'm an American currently working remote from Nairobi and the cost savings are unbelievable. I'm still paying for everything not being used in Miami while I'm abroad (apartment, car, insurance, gym, etc), and even considering the flights and extended AirBnB rental, I'm going to save money overall during my stay here vs. living in the states.
What type of work do you do?
As a Kenyan living in London, I find this video an eye opener as I have always been curious as to how much one needs to live a comfortable or luxurious life in Nairobi. I must say that the kind of money you spend in a month in Nairobi is sort of the same one can spend in London minus the luxuries.
Most foreigners live in Westlands, it's over-priced for no reason. Kilimani, Lavington, Karen and Kileleshwa are cheaper and much much better.

Hey beautiful, my heart almost skipped a beat when I saw the totals. I think with more consultations and more affordable options, the price can go significantly low. Very few Kenyans can live within that budget, yet, some live upscale lifestyles but with much less. All the best and keep us posted.
Upscale is not limited
Mannnnn, if some of y'alll STOP COMPLAINING about how much she's spending and GET YOUR MONEY UP and leave the broke mindset alone. Multiple income streams will make you feel ALOT better, as someone in the US who pays alot more than 4K a month, it's refreshing to see honesty from someone who might want to visit or expatriate one day. 💯
Exactly. I have two jobs. One for saving. The other for monthly expenses and day to day living. I do not want to feel stress out or panic to pay my bills.
lol na I own a brownstone in manhattan,but I stay in Nairobi & im having a hard time spending a 1000 a month, I don’t live in Westland’s though
The gym, palates memberships are incredibly over priced. I live in the USA. You can get a monthly gym membership for under 22.00 a month.
My gym Price is 54.90€ a month
I used to live in Canada and I’m now in Congo where cost of life is extremely expensive. Kenya seems like a dream.
Come to kenya dear,it's very cheap it's just that you have seen a video that is not accurately disclosing living costs in Nairobi.THIS VIDEO IS A RIP OFF TO Expatriate.

I think we all live and learn, its her experience wanting to replicate her uk life to kenya in a much cheaper way which didnt materialize. Definitely the takeways is that location, discretionary spending will greatly impact her budget. Best thing about it she is honest about it, and it sounds going forward she has to make some big adjustments to actualize her intentions. For many here, those amounts spents are enough to buy plots, everybody stays in their lane. Lets see how she rolls her dice going forward.
I just ran across your video; I am 30 yrs old, American, Ex- Military, and Tech Entrepreneur. Currently making 2 million Kenyan Shilings per month just booked flight to Kenya; viewing property this week in Westlands.
Wassup man karibu Kenya also a tech Entrepreneur here in Kenya and EU... Westlands is expensive maybe check Lavington or Kileleshwa but as usual beware of your environs and ripoffs.. if you love out of City houses you can get some too which are affordable. Enjoy your stay don't hesitate if you need help on anything.
Karibu kenya, hakuna matata
You must be making a pretty-penny to have that kind of a budget per month. Very few people earn 500K a month in Nairobi. I can slash that budget to 150K a month and still live comfortably. With an open mind, you can save a lot of money.

Ordinary Kenyans are shocked 🤪🤪🤣 , guys she is living as if she is in her home city London, with all the luxurious amenities, munaget ? People are living, not surviving 🤣🤣🤣
Don't be shocked, western women are incapable of budgeting. I can't tell you how many women i know in the US who make good money but are dead broke because they can't control their spending.
To be really honest with you, as a British African, living in Kenya, I find your spending reasonable. Kenya, with its warm climate, makes for a sociable city. It’s difficult to control the weekly nights out or midweek dinner dates. Also, the allure of the high end Westlands apartments with great security, I can understand how you can spend like this. In England, I doubt you would have this much disposable income.
"British African"? That's a new one for me. So, wewe ni mzungu ama wewe ni muafrica original?

Thanks Sis. As you said in your video, your lifestyle is your choice. Others will easily identify with it. While others will think you don't know what you're doing or are being ripped off. Those folks are not you. Peace. Also, this was good info for those that can identify. (Not a criticism of anyone. Just noting differences. )
Am so happy for you, you actually made a home in Kenya after some negativity in the beginning 😳

There people surviving with less than 2 Dollars per day - and they are contented with life.

I may moving to Kenya for work soon, I earn around £10,000 per month , I think I should be able to live very well on £2,000 per month or less.
What work do you do earning 10,000 pounds😭Rich pal!! If you come to Kenya you will be a millionaire I assure you!
Damn. Adding up these numbers makes me want to visit Kenya. I’m from South Africa and Kenya seems affordable.
have you considered just buying an apartment in Lavington, Kilimani, or Kileleshwa. The cost between Ksh. 12,000,000 and 20,000,000 for a 2 bedroom fully furnished, thats between $107,000 to $120,000. I find it less cheaper than renting and whenever you wanna move to a new place you get rental income out of it. Rent in kenya is quiet expensive compared to just owning your own apartment. There are also other cheaper yet luxurious locations like Muthaiga, Rosslyn with way more to offer and quite serene too
She first have to live in the place for some time before she is ready to decide on permanent residency. Let her live. I sure that she is saving some money. She is young once. She does not have kids.
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I used to reside in the beautiful city of Nairobi, and your monthly expenses would have sustained me for a year during that time. As others have mentioned, I, too, supported my parents with those meager earnings. I left my hometown and have found modest success overseas. Now when I return to visit, I realize I could easily live a life similar to yours in terms of expenses. However, for millions of Kenyans, your monthly costs are a distant dream, representing a year or more of living expenses. Life has its twists. I was once there, but now I've achieved a little success abroad, allowing me to return home and afford most indulgences. It comes with a touch of guilt, knowing I've been on the other side where small luxuries seemed like an unattainable dream. Nevertheless, such is life. To those questioning the possibility of such expenditures, understand that life unfolds in unpredictable ways. I wish you good fortune.
I'd say its worth it cause to be fair you'd probably be spending more than quadruple of what you're spending in Nairobi to enjoy the same amenities and luxuries back home in London. I wonder what the rent would be for an apartment just like this one, in London.
Weuh kwani niko inchi ingine😂😂😂

Yes you are!
Spending almost Kshs. 1M is purely her choice, its her lylifestyle taste clearly on the higher end, otherwise if she decides the total expenditure can be even 100k at most or less since Kenya has the cheapest options anywhere in the world.
If you want to save cash, stay with gas tank, use electricity only if the gas runs out. It will work out to be much cheaper. Electricity prices were increased. But since you've got a big budget, is doesn't really matter 🤣

I m so glad about your video. Most CZcamsr always underestimate the costs and I think hello? how can they live with such a small amount. I spend about the same as you do because I do not want to survive I want to live. Ok, I spend the money a lot differently then you but I guess if you want a lifestyle where you don't cut back you will spend between 3-4K a month. I know ppl that live on 1,5K.
Yes, live it up when you can afford to. Just keep it in the range where you're still able to save for a rainy day.

It seems you are a High Profile person so you spend very big! here in Zambia its cheaper than Kenya though
I have been to eastleigh lately and man everything is very expensive, most things are as expensive in Sweden and some stuff are even more expensive in Eastleigh than Sweden(which I thought was expensive to start with when i came to Eastleigh). only on food a family of 5 we were using like 600-700$ a month and were cooking nearly everything at home. Is it normal kenyas or should we move out of Eastleigh?
Interesting; thanks for sharing. I’ll be in Nairobi in a month; my goal is to have a similar lifestyle minus the eating out part for 1.5k USd or less. We’ll see 😅
It's very possible
I think you'll succeed.
You can eat out too, but you have to be mindful of where.
If you like fancy restaurants maybe limit that to once a month.
1.5K is just about right for a comfortable lifestyle that won't compromise a lot. You should be OK with that.
Very smart
Most pretty girls who already have jobs and/or large savings accounts from somewhere else often don't want to live the lifestyle of a typical African. But, the gym and pilates? Wow! That is very expensive, even to first world standards.
Love this video. I was living in the US spending 8k a month. Thankful to be on the continent spending so much less but also I’m on working spending even less lol. Would love to figure out a $2,000 (300000 KHS) budget. That’s my goal while living in Kenya.
😂😂😂
This is very luxurious way of life here in Nairobi eeeiiii😂. I'm the only one broke in this country let me not speak, if I speak......😅
To live your lifestyle without breaking a sweat, it would be best to:
1) Save enough to buy an apartment, maisonette etc. Eliminate your biggest cost and it is easy to control the food bill by making more meals at home.
How? Don't get a mortgage, interest rates are too high. Just save and invest in Euros or dollars etc. before arrival, convert to kshs and make the purchase when you are ready.
2). Alternatively, rent but have at least one steady source of income in foreign currency eg real estate overseas, online business, working online.
Failure to plan is planning to fail.
That's not really relevant to locals in Kenya. Why do people always think investments and savings always have to come from abroad or involve euros or dollars. Many billionaires in Kenya dont even invest in dollars and have made their money using the Kenyan shilling SMH
@@YesOoko She comes from the UK. Message is directed at those who come to Kenya as she did. Anyone moving to any country needs to have a financial structure that supports them in the standard of living to which they have become accustomed/desire especially if they do not have a job waiting to provide that support. Stocks and bonds, the above in my post etc. Money to sustain the lifestyle must come from some where and earning in dollars, pounds, euros gives one a huge head start if business or assets provide a good revenue stream.
@@PhilaTsavo You are wrong and brainwashed with dollars and Pounds.Even a foreigner like her can adapt and start a Local business with the skills she has and earn in Kenyan shillings to sustain her lifestyle. The biggest advantage foreigners may have is their HUMAN Resource so she can easily use her skills(if she has ANY) to generate revenue from here using Local Funds and without even touching a dollar or Pound -your dream currencies
@@YesOoko Human resources exist in Kenya too. Yes, she can start a business there but even that requires capital and time so how does one sustain oneself in the interim if one wishes to live at a certain standard? If you lack the exposure to understand my point, don't be bitter consider yourself lucky that I even replied.
