    About me:
    I'm a 51 year old with a busy full time job and a blind little pup named Harper who I love dearly. I've always loved makeup, fashion and beauty and worked as a makeup artist while in law school to make extra money...although that was many years ago now. I have dry, rosacea prone skin with wrinkles and skin damage caused by the fact that I'm no longer 20.

    I’m 80 and have seen this look come and go throughout the 65 years I’ve been wearing makeup. Whether we call it naked, nude, or latte, the look employees the same concept-a subtly sculpted face done in shades of coffee with cream. The difference over the years has been because of the different makeup formulations and textures. I’ve always thought of the look as being a refreshing change after colorful/vibrant/extreme trends. It’s a welcome break before the next “big thing” comes along. And, of course, this look has always been deemed business appropriate.

    Ooh, I just had a thought while you were talking. The Dior Golden Bouquet 509 palette would be perfect for this look.

    oh lordy, thanks for this video. I’ve seen this “latte” thing and I was like…wut? Watched a couple of videos and didn’t get it…I thought “latte” meant like a creamy beige/brown skin foundation like, make your skin look like coffee with milk in it? 🤔 I’m relieved to see you kinda grin over the whole thing, and that it’s just neutrals, so clearly I was over-thinking.
    Yes on the sponges, we had sponge applicators and the Q-tips to blend. 😂 I still think sponge applicators have a place with packing on certain shadows. I see younger people on CZcams using like goat hair brushes for dry powders or foils and then complaining the shadows have no payoff. Wrong tool. Wrong technique. I keep packs of sponge applicators, though sadly they often sell out in places and don’t get restocked.
    My first eyeshadow was 1975, I was 10 and my mom let me get the bright blue Maybelline I really wanted. 😅

      Totally agree. Sponge application definitely has its place. The right tool for the right job.
      And I think the whole point of fashion and makeup is to have fun and express yourself. 😊

    Thanks so much for your video, Jennifer! I think I'm the same age as you (50), and I have a daughter who just left for her senior year of college. A few weeks ago she was excitedly telling me all about this trend, and I literally laughed out loud and told her it's basically just brown or nude tones, which have been around forever! In the 80s I remember having a favorite drugstore palette by Coty that was warm toned browns, and then in the 90s I recall having either a MAC palette or singles that a MUA put together for me to create a more cool to neutral toned brown look (and of course brown toned lips were all the rage then too!). I also seem to recall having several neutral/cool Bobbi Brown palettes in that same time period. Having said that, I'm glad this look is "back" (though we know it never really left!) because the warm toned version of it is very flattering on me as a warm toned strawberry blonde.

    A nice look Jen, and appreciate seeing ideas for someone with a fair complexion and light eyes. I initially passed on the new CDP palettes but you’ve reminded me and I’ll take another look. The included base color appeals to me as I’ve got a lot of redness/darkness on my lids but find primers are tricky for my mature and textured skin there. Hope you’re feeling better!

    For decades I would read my allure and vogues, religiously. And at the turn of every season was a section that gave examples of the trends that season and they were always like, a nude, a pink, something with a red lip, something with a pop of whatever the “it” color of the season was. Now we have latte and strawberry girl. It’s the same thing, it’s just people give it silly names. I noticed the same thing when I was googling images for my last few hair cuts. They give these trendy names, and honestly the examples on actresses they use are always years old! It’s that seasons version of x or y or z, but now everyone is always trying to go “viral.”

    I could be wrong but the first person I ever saw doing this look is @NikkiLarose who is a makeup artist she is wonderful. I had been watching her for almost a year before this look was termed Latte. I believe this is a signature look for her that she has been doing for years now.

    It's hilarious to see a look being touted as a trend when I've been doing this exact look for decades 😂😂😂. Which means, I obviously like it 😉
    The Surratt Beyond Beige quad is a perfect palette for achieving this "trendy" look.
    Lots of love to you 💗🌸💗🌸💗🌸💗
    PS : I'm so sorry I'm very late watching this vid Jennifer. My sinuses flared up yesterday and prevented me from looking at a screen. Needless to say, I was in pain AND bored 😂!! ❤❤

    Jennifer, I have a question about that Cle de Peau palette. Because that primer shade is a cream instead of powder like the other colors, do you think these palettes will expire sooner than all powder palettes? I love the look, but at that price, I don't want palettes that go bad. I have a lot of eye shadow. I'm used to palettes that are food for years. And at that price......Thanks for the video. You look lovely. That lip color is great!💚

    • @DeborahCarlston

      Good not *food. Sorry for the typos.

    • @Allfeisty
      @Allfeisty  Před rokem +1

      @@DeborahCarlston never worry about typos with me! I do it all the time. You know, it’s a good question. I know that they say they have a long life span on the packaging. But it’s difficult to know because they just came out and I haven’t had them long enough to be able to say that they primer shade doesn’t change over time. I think you likely have 2 years but that’s a guess at this point

    • @DeborahCarlston
      @DeborahCarlston Před rokem +2

      @@Allfeisty Thanks. Yes, it's so hard to say. As (I think) you've said in the past, you keep powder palettes a long time. I do too. Since I just use them on myself, and I clean my brushes, mine seem to last forever. But not my cream products. 2 years could be right if they have preservatives. My Kosas foundations only lasted a few months. So I like preservatives in expensive products.

    • @kateboy-rx6jt
      @kateboy-rx6jt Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@DeborahCarlston I had 2 Kosas cream blush & highlight duos that went bad very quickly so for that reason I won't buy Kosas cream or liquid products again, especially for the price point.

    • @DeborahCarlston

      @@kateboy-rx6jt Thanks for the info. It wasn't just me then. FYI, Macys has Cle de Peau at 15% off right now. At least they did yesterday. Including the new eye palettes. In case you loved Jennifer's.
