Best guests ever on this channel.
Thank you
***** And your a waste of life. Stop consuming our oxygen bitch
Great to see such a strong individual also be able to communicate extremely well. His "so you think can squat" videos are a must watch IMO
Brandon Campbell i didnt realise that was him in 'so you think you can squat' that is the best video out to squat
Bro, I've watched that series over 100 times! If you're going to watch any instructional squat video "so you think you can squat" is a must! Lots of great info
Brandon Campbell On list of things to watch
talder123 t gd dA
Brandon Campbell IIRC when I watched those a few years back, they basically taught me how not to squat. Unless it's a different series outside of the EliteFTS channel. Lol.
Didn't they talk about how you should look straight up and sit back? Seems like more for geared lifters IMO.
Cant ever think of a Supertraining video that didnt teach me something useful! What you guys deliver is superb!
It's so great to hear these comments!
You guys deserve to know!
Just wanted to comment to thank you guys at supertraining and especially you Mark. You are setting a standard for the youtube powerlifting scene - thank you so much.
I really appreciate the feedback
The military as a whole needs to adopt this mindset. That would cut down greatly on the injuries and help in preparedness for deployments.
Supertraining is KILLING it right now.. Hard work is shining through. Keep up the hard work. Making the world a better place to lift.
As a veteran of the USAF myself...I would like to thank both of you ( Mark & Matt ) for what you are doing for the service members....great information and I wish this type of training was implemented full scale in across all branches...
These comments are cancer. Matt is much higher qualified than almost all the guys leading the PT in your unit or anybodys elses.
Joe R I was bout to say he is benchin like 1000 pounds..
Yeah I know. Don't understand how some people think they have the right to criticise him at all. Matt's one of those guys that when he gives advice, you shut up and listen.
I'm definitely not qualified, but I think the reason why people are freaking out is because Matt's advice is very contrary to most of the top level guys in strength sports. So people are confused or unconvinced on what he's saying.
For example, when some of the guys were having their hips shoot up and their back round during their deadlifts, Matt was telling them their hamstrings and back were too weak and are frying out before the weight can move. However, three more commonly given pieces of advice by great coaches include:
1: The hips are too low to start (which seemed likely watching some of the military guys sumo technique in the video)
2: The slack was not pulled out of the bar (also likely given their technique)
3: Their quads are too weak and they are finding the strongest position for them to move the weight which uses less quads.
There were more examples throughout the video of Matt's advice opposing common advice given by professionals. Again, I'm not qualified, like I'm a 21 year old college student with a sub 1000 pound total, not an elite level powerlifter, but that is what I observed watching this video.
that black dude is hella strong. mirin
Henry Maple BBC genetics
P diddy is super strong
This channel has really moved up a few gears lately. The go to for training advice now in my opinion. Just a constant stream of the most knowledgable guys out there.
And Silent Mike.
Matt Wenning seems like an awesome dude
Being a canadian military member myself I can really appreciate this stuff. Started powerlifting a few years ago and it has increased my durability in the field more than anything else. Thanks for the effort, thought and of course for sharing on youtube.
As a veteran its nice to see Mr. Wenning trying to get more people aware of how outdated basic PT is. I started crossfit to get back into better shape but fell in love with powerlifting. I found myself seeing some of the same weaknesses the guys in the video had. Can't wait to use what I've learned. Thank You Matt and Smelly. P.S. Can't wait to get my camo gansta wraps
Great instructor. Used everything that he taught us when he came to Carson to instruct and train soldiers. His videos are great as well.
Took So many notes, MARK BELL is THE man, everything that comes out his mouth IS gold!
These video series are fucking amazing. You don't get nearly as much views and recognition as you deserve for it. So awesome to finally see a quality powerlifting channel with extremely strong guys.
God damn.. That black guy is strong for his weight. Only 163 benching 365...
because we run too damn much like every friggin day. almost never lift at unit level pt so have to do it on our own time then when we train in the field or deploy running is the one thing we almost never end up doing. just walk for miles on end with a gazillion lbs on our backs yea running is good for that ...
Mark Bell is a business genius in this industry
Agreed
Lol ^^
supertraining06 humble too
As a US Army Vet and current powerlifter I couldn't agree with Matt more!! It's been a belief of mine that the military needs to adjust their physical fitness programs to encourage more strength training!
this is some elite coaching in weightlifting, thanks for the advice.
Really liked the fact that Matt recommended lowering the deadlifts for eccentric work to build up the concentric part, rarely hear anyone talking about it.
I fucking love you guys, wenning is right, I'm in the army for the past 6 years now, and I'm a competitive strongman, I yell daily and nightly about how dumb our pt standards are and how useless they are, just bc they have been doing them for the past however many years and are too lazy to take the time to implement an actual functional test or deviate from what they know most of the people suffer, it's a shame.
Thanks for the input and thanks for watching
trevor smith I totally agree. Been in the navy for 9 years now and I've realized that the PRT has been purposely devolved in to a force-shaping tool instead of preparing us to fight. However, I think the marines are on the right track with combat fitness test.
+Boat Ogre yea the usmc not only has the pft, it also the cft. (combat fitness test). which is ammo can lifts from chest to above your head of about 40 pounds, some sprints and a movement under fire exercise that involves running with 2 ammo cans, fire man carries and dragging a buddy for a good distance. 2:15 mins. is a perfect score
+ComeAtMeBroForreal My battery took that test just for shits and giggles and it was HARD. Great workout.
+trevor smith One of the reasons we do that 2min 2min 2 mile is just because it requires little planning and equipment. You need a timer and 2 miles of road. Doing a PT test for a HHB of almost 200 people with weights and kettlebells and ammo cans would be a logistical nightmare. It could be done, and I think it should. But we would be doing PT tests day after day for weeks in order to get a BN on paper.
So glad I watched this video! In my recent quest to jack myself up I've watched tons of videos.....but none as practical and precise as this one. Matt Wenning obviously has a shitload of experience and wisdom. I wish I would've seen this one months ago!
this is so true. we r not trained right. now that im out i am really paying for it. besides my injuries from iraq i was hurt alot because of our physical training regiment. thank you greatly for the info guys.
Like this dude. Intelligent and concise.
Best teacher you've ever had on the show! Very hands on. Keep up the great work!
Great video supertraining06 !! I had worries about this exact thing when I did my service in northern norway, cause all the mandatory training we did was push ups, military presses and weeklong xcountry skitrips with 50kg backpacks. Needless to say many of my buddies got knee and lower back problems.
Solid stuff! Speaks the truth. I see it daily. Finally someone making changes in the field right now with top brass. Results speaking for themselves! His manual is pure gold for programming examples and plans.
That was excellent.
Not knowing who Matt Wenning is and judging based on his physical appearance. At first I was like "wtf would this mountain know about military training" but I was surprised on point and logical he is.
Im already thinking about how to modify my program. Im not in the military but this will help my rugby training for sure.
Matt Wenning is the real deal. He's super smart and well spoken. He's always been really supportive and positive. Glad to see guys like this making the world a better place to lift. Weren't you in a movie called Bigger, Stronger, Faster? You look kinda familiar.
Very intresting facts about the bench and deadlift (esp. the bench) that hasnt been talked about in previous bench videos which instead had great info about other factors, great vid!
650lbs double overhand with no hook is insane, I dont even think some of the top grip guys do that
I'm a 16 year old lifter been lifting since i was 14 and just recently Ive been going to the doctor for lower back mid back and shoulder pain. im pretty strong for my size i think 5'11 160 bench 240 dead 365 and squat 280 but i just wanted to say thank you for the tips on form because everything you said was wrong on those lifts i was doing. I'm really happy experienced people are out here teaching good form so no one has to end up like me trying to fix 2 year ingrained bad habits, thank you for your tips and knowledge. i think that they will help make me a better and safer lifter.
i only wish i had happened upon this earlier but ill be okay just thinking some freshmen will watch this and not make my mistakes thank alot guys.
Look up Kelley Starrett and Smashwerx channels'.
18:29 "The perfection of form is about to stop" and the laugh afterwards... Cracks me up every time!
Probally the best deadlift instructional out there. Thanks to Mark Bell for getting guest like this in for us to watch. Majestically presented.
Thanks for having Matt on love his explanations and knowledge
I also appreciate Matt's ability to communicate, as well as what specificity means to a soldier. Great content!
Matt Wenning is so right. All US Marines do for training is intense cardio, pull ups and pushups lol. And some skill realism training for the battlefield.
old man smoked everybody love it man. matt wenning is one of the best strength coaches worldwide. much love
I love the fact that more and more lifters and military are using the kettlebell!! and I hate to be a stickler, but thats not a swing. sure, its an exercise but not the way kettlebell swings were meant to be to increase hip strength, balance and cardio
I am on a quest to get Jacked and Tan...this channel has helped me so much. The free knowledge you guys share without selling BS is awesome.
Wow, amazing video once again guys, I am active duty Air Force and I cannot tell you how much our 'PT scores' do not measure true functional fitness. Keep doing what you are doing, smashing mf life PRs right now at Super Training!
this makes a lot of sense, must get stronger
The best training channel on youtube, so much information all for free. Salute!
I don't have any strong power lifters where I lift so thanks a lot Mark for having people like Matt in videos.. Can never learn enough!
Thanks a lot for videos like these!
You're preventing a lot of injuries with such good information!
Wenning and CWS have been some of the most informative guests. Thanks guys!
Thanks Mark for posting all the great content for free!!
I get so much from every single video that you post. I've improved in every single lift since I subscribed to your channel!! Keep them coming guys!
Another great video! Even though this is a powerlifting channel I would love to see the odd bodybuilder or trainer featured on here every once in awhile.......maybe 20% like how you had Charles Glass because one, you cater to a wider group of lifters and it just shakes things up and keeps it interesting
The goddamn military just makes our men run forever and do pull ups and push ups forever. I think its time to get a better program for our recruits.
The dude with the batman t-shirt was a f'ing beast!
Great video!
Agree with a lot of these comments on here. It's one thing to create great products, but it's a whole other ball game to consistently put out awesome content within the powerlifting world. Keep it up guys.
I think a part of that high injury rate is when they introduced Crossfit in 08-09'. Crossfit was starting to take off in the Army as I was exiting the service...
I wish the military would take this type of shit seriously. I hate pt. its such a waste of time, and the only injuries ive ever had since I started lifting were actually from pt. all the running, bullshit ass stretches we have to do before we begin, and the side bridge (which is basically a fucking side plank). unfortunately they are bad about being stuck in their ways. also it pisses me off that all these kids coming into the military think that doing pushups all day every day will make them strong and big.
imlee888 yeah fuck obliques who needs core stabilization right?
This, Ed Coan and Chris Duffin videos are the best! Probably Dan Green should appear too somewhere in the future!
Mark looks super shredded for that size is crazy, good job cutting
+Seth Joyner he has huge ass six pack too lmao
i have watched a lot of sumo videos and this quick walk through is what made it finally click.
Holy moley Mr. Batman Shirt (sweet shirt btw) is strong as hell!
Great video he knows his stuff and explains it very simply
This was a GREAT video. Matt Wenning is an amazing athlete and trainer, and this was super informative!! Thanks Mark and Supertraining!!
Awesome video Mark. Lots of great tips. Will have to re-watch this again sometime.
This makes a lot of sense. Hope they get some traction with the DoD!
A lot of really good content lately. Thanks.
Matt Wenning super solid guy, really enjoyed listening to this guys thoughts
Yeah, this is one of the best videos yet. Great work.
Veritable cornucopia of knowledge dispensed here. THANK YOU!!
Really enjoyed the video ! This guy definitely knows his stuff ! Thanks ST for the awesome content you spread on youtube !
Just wanted to thank you for the excellent training videos. The guest coaches you have on and give tips/advise are amazing. I've learned so much and appreciate all that you do.
Love all the content! Thanks for being consistant mark, now I always have something to watch and learn from!
Im so impressed with the content coming from this channel. Great stuff and invaluable information. thanks powercast!
I gleaned so much info from this video. Thanks, Matt and Mark! This was excellent!
Awesome video Mark. These videos from the best lifters in the world on proper technique are absolute class. Going to try & implement some of Matts tips on the Bench Press.
Thanks Mark and Matt, inspiring, got me fired up. Going to gym right now...
These videos are simply awesome! Very informative and fun to watch keep them coming!
AIR FORCE HUA! This video was incredibly helpful. Really appreciate great vids like this
WOW! BEST VIDEO SO FAR ON THE TUBE! This video awnsered every question i have had and no one has been able to awnser. Im not playing, thanks for this video. I have actually stoped training because i had so many questions( I still run 3× a week) fudge this! Im going outside and lift some shit with technique! Lol
Loving these series by the way. Will watch more often. I am learning a lot
Great vid. Active U.S. Army engineer captain here, taking command next summer. Definately going to add this to the tool box to help my soldiers. Quick question, how far is that parking lot / how many reps are they getting with those rows?
Yet another awesome fucking video! These videos have been very helpful with my own training.
Keep it up Matt! We need to PT smarter in the Military!
Two things Mark, one no knock at Ed Coan he's the greatest of all time but this video even for me at 35 years old competing for 15 yrs taught me some things and was so informative and taught in a way the biggest meat head couldn't misunderstand and two, that lil black kid is crazy strong for his size. Keep this shit coming, a channel for real lifters who train for a goal. I been following u long before social media cuz I grew up west side it's crazy to see how far you've come
I agree, i think it's just because Matt has a different style compared to ed, Matt was a more hands on assessment of the lifts where as ed kind of spoke about what he did himself for himself which was what the ed coan series was about
Travis AFB is and AMC-Air Mobility Command base. It is the Air Forces gateway to the Pacific region like Dover AFB is to the Atlantic. The base is focused on air transport and it has a major west hospital/med squadron. It is close to Sacramento and the SF Bay Area. It is nice place to be assigned.
This is golden, thank you ST!!
Awesome instructional my buddy sent me. I’m going to implement these concepts today!
Awesome and thorough training analysis! Great Trainer Matt and Mark! I love it when the 160 lb 'er was demonstrating the lighter weight guy was expotentially Strong and technique efficient!
Best quality on youtube.
Great video- thank you for bringing this to the military-couldn't agree more!
this channel is amazing! so interesting to get introduced to all these guys!
Incredible video. He is an absolute genius.
I was a 1st cav M1A1 tanker in the late 90's my company's average deadlift would crush over 200. I was at around 500 and I was a small guy in my platoon. Average was around 500 but we were all beasts. A decade after getting out of the military I deadlifted around 700 and benched 475
Most useful video I've seen in many months!
the stronger you are the less the injury hurts.
Viking's communication ability is superior, I'm watching to hear this gentleman speak. Wow.
Very glad I found these videos, informative and eye opening, wish I had someone like that around my area
Best fitness channel on CZcams!
I love you guys honestly. Huge inspiration. Keep up the amazing videos!
Your videos are the best. Best guests and I like your podcast as well.
very informative.....think i've learned more about this 3 basis lifts from this 1 hour video than i have in the past 5 months of starting powerlifting
