  • Fishing Saint Augustine, Florida's inshore saltwater near the Vilano bridge using the Garmin Panoptix LiveScope System. The system is paired with a Garmin ECHOMAP UHD 94sv that is mounted on the forward casting deck.
The transducer is mounted on a PVC pipe setup, held to the boat with a RAM Mount (the setup credit goes to Southern Reels Fishing). It is powered by one of the two trolling motor batteries.
This video is set to give perspective buyers an idea of how this system performs in saltwater. Sorry for the glare/water spots on the screen!

*I had nothing but troubles when I installed the panoptix in boat with two new Garmin fish finders **allabout.wiki/iz8t** lost sonar this and that .. after doing a lot of reading this thing needs to be direct to battery not to fuse box or spliced into a hot wire . I took everything apart today hooked it up to a stand alone battery and not one error at all . I might get a kayak battery just for this to run on . going this weekend to big musky lake I can not wait !!!!*

Yeah, that’s very accurate. The effective range is about 70’ in saltwater, but that’s sufficient for most of what I use it for. I have found that’s it’s even nice finding bait holding deeper in the water. I’m hoping to get to the keys next month to try it out down there.

That's good to know. Mine is wired to one of my two trolling motor batteries and I haven't had an issue like that.

Thanks! The bridges here are pretty good this time of year. Since making this video, larger redfish have worked their way to the bridges as well.

How is this thing for pogy pods? My dad and I used this freshwater fishing the other day and loved it, i fish vilano and mayport a lot and the idea of watching tarpon sounds sweet! Are you still happy with its performance?

Very similar structure to where I am, eastern Nc, you can see sheepheads around those pilings. Sub’

Yeah, we can see them when they’re around here as well. They tend to move around a lot here depending on the time of year, but they’re a lot of fun to catch. On the gulf coast, we caught probably 60 in a few hours. They were thick in the inlet and you could see 3-5 swimming over to any shrimp that you dropped. We don’t see them as thick here.

What would you like to see in the next video? Livescope questions are encouraged!

    Thanks for video

Hey John, I have the Minn Kota Riptide Terrova 80 with i-Pilot. I'm really happy with it. It's a 24 volt trolling motor so I have a battery on each side under the forward casting deck. Size 27 batteries (one is also powering a fish finder and LiveScope that includes a black box) and they can easily run the entire day. Our tide swings 5-6 feet every 6 hours here so our current is swift. There are moments where it's sitting at 9/10 to keep the spot lock, but the batteries just keep going. It took a bit to get used to the remote, but using the directional locks, cruise control, etc. make life a lot easier. The anchor feature is really what makes it great. I almost never use my actual anchor.

      Did Waylen do the install?

    • @firstcoastsaltwaterfishing547

I bought the new in 2014 at Tracker/Bass Pro in Tallahassee and had them do the install. They put both batteries on the same side which is really too much weight in a forward corner so I moved a tray to the other side. They put a piece of freeboard underneath to get over the lip.
