9:40 I think JN made those, called touchwood? I’m very minimalistic in my EDC carry, one knife and flashlight is about it. Sometimes an O’Pen mini and rarely a second knife. I have a TopDog hank too, I have a Día de los Muertos sugar skulls hank. One pretty cool EDC piece I have is a O’Tackle (it’s a retractable razor, bottle opener, micro pry, screwdriver, and hex bit “turner” (you have to put it in sideways and use it like a wrench-not easy to use but could be convenient in a pinch). When I leave the house, the only stuff I carry is what I can fit in my pockets. Knife, light, and keys on a carabiner (saves room in the pocket) with a super basic multi-tool on it (Gerber Shard). I may start carrying a hank since I keep a box of tissues in my car and I could displace that (except when my kids might need one, they would not want to use my dirty hank then, haha). Otherwise I'm not into the rest of the EDC stuff. I have no use for pouches, pens, or any other kind of pocket trash. I like watches but I'm too invested in collecting knives to get nice ones right now! 😅 My wallet is decently thick but I actually use everything in it. That's the one thing I don't get about the EDC craze: wallets. I see guys selling 8-12 wallets at a time, all in new condition. There's such a weird issue with FOMO in this community (with anything, not just wallets) that people end up buying so much stuff and selling at huge losses. Just doesn't make sense to me. But hey, to each their own. That's how I end up getting great stuff for pennies on the dollar 😁
Agree, my edc is basically a solid folding knife, then Classic SD SAK attached with my keys. I just carry a regular wallet for now. Never felt the need to carry a flashlight and multi tool and all that stuff.
@@RealBoiJare Only reason I got a flashlight (Streamlight Microstream) is because I was using my phone flashlight often, and that's pretty dim and cumbersome to use. A pocket pen light replaces that nicely. Otherwise 👍

Swisschamp XLT its scale tools with firefly, helix tinder, a rod from a fireant, keychain flashlight never leave home without those. Got EDC pouches with mix of knives, first aid, charging , writing, and and fire stuff. Nick resent me and I'm In.
My child is too adorable to leave his pictures out of my wallet, so no minimalist wallet for me. The leather wallet I carry now was hand carved by me for my late grandad.😢

Like your EDC. Always have a Classic SAK on me no matter what else I carry. Otherwise I carry my gear in my Alpaka sling bag. As I am in a wheelchair 90% of the time the bag keeps everything within easy reach. Wallet, flashlight, knives, hank, multitool all in the sling.

I've told a few people that yes, you're into EDC, because you have a lanyard for your badge, special clip and loop for your keys, etc., and they say, yes, you're right, I do have EDC items. A common practice whose term is not often used is all. I dig the minimalist wallets, I'm trying to use a cheapie that I have when I'm going for walks, to the beach, etc., where I don't need to have absolutely everything on me, like gift cards, reward cards, coupons, etc. Besides the regular, I dig stones, spinners, flashlights, edged toys, my leatherman that I've been carrying since I bought it back in '85. So many interesting bits and bobbles to entertain oneself, as well as a topic of conversation or introduction of awesomeness to others. 😃

It was just a side thing, but it's getting a lot of attention. Mostly because Nick over at Behind the Edge is running a GAW through these comments. Super nice of him to help me out.
Behind the Edge told me to like and sub. I was already subbed so I can at least comment. I've never gotten into lanyards, beads and "pocket trash". I carry too much stull already without giving up my valuable space to trinkets. That's what I love about this community and this hobby though. We can all approach it however we want and tailor it to our own tastes. Great video!

I just ordered a Victorinox One Hand Trekker. Seems in theory that it will handle well enough, most of the dad stuff I'm likely to run into. But I love these videos if for no other reason than to justify all of my cargo short pockets. And let's face it, EDC and all of the other SHTF trends are really mostly just excuses for us genx men to play a more grown up version of soldier likecwe did as kids in the 80s.😂 And there's nothing wrong with that.
There is some truth in what you say about us Gen Xers. However my thoughts on both EDC and SHTF i.e. prepping are that both were standard practice for every generation before us, with the exception of the boomers, so really we're just reverting to what our grandparents did. My grandfathers all carried a pocket knife, lighter and bits of string. Carrying a sharp object - a flint or stone blade before ironworking - dates back further than people think, hominids were doing it even before Homo Sapiens emerged. We know more specific details of men's EDC over the last 3,000 plus years, starting with Oetzi the mummified frozen iron age guy found in the Alps, through to more recent times. As to prepping, again right up to my grandparents' generation this was the norm. My parents (boomers) used to kind of joke about my dad's parents having a cupboard full of tinned food like corned beef and other items in a spare bedroom, but they had been through the depression of the 30s, and WW2 and rationing after that. People living rural existences in earlier centuries had to stock up on supplies for the winter and developed all kinds of ways to preserve meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. Again it was only from the late 1950s that people in cities didn't have to do this, thanks to refrigeration and supply chains.
You didn't show the 2nd Leatherman, didn't take it out. didn't even give the name, I would suspect it's a Rebar? The half tool is a Gerber armbar....didn't give wallet name....
always felt i was born in the wrong time erra. would love to live in the wild west. i always carry 2 knives one for hard use and one for slicey tasks but i would love to carry a larger fixed blade or a dagger. open carryiying a sword would be something else!! also haha sorry i know its a 6 month old vid but im watching all of them eventually

I feel like there is so much I haven't gotten into yet. It's really a personal thing and everybodies choice is different. But that's why it's fun.
