Not to mention we dont even have the "hard" dificulties. Im pretty sure violence is supposed to be a "medium" difficulty. Like minos on the harder difficulties will be just agony i dont even want to imagine.

Watching the style meter swap to ULTRAKILL with that final hit being a parry was so satisfying to watch. Absolutely nuts man, I'm dreading doing this myself...

Congrats! Even before 21:00, The lack of good parrys was dead obvious to me. I did Pinos when he was first released, before watching any guides on him (and entered the first battle blind except for king minos' name)
Without Nukes, Nailbomb, or rail-coin on him, parrying was essential (as was hitting a blind jump to get to the bottom of the spine for time)
It was dead obvious with the lack of parrying flesh prison's homing projectiles, but where it was really hurting you was against minos himself. One of the things i had done immediately was just, die 3 or 4 times while only hitting parries, even on the melee attacks.

Yeah, at the timestamped bit and a couple other times I mentioned how I knew I should be parrying him but it just wasn't in my muscle memory to do so. I would always just mash the dash button to try and avoid it and then end up... Neither avoiding it or being able to parry it, which sucked.
So part of my practice between my second and third session of attempts was literally just using no guns and just parrying Minos. I definitely underestimated how big of an impact it would have because after getting that down pat I pretty quickly got the P-Rank.
Amazing strat. Deal 50 self-damage to avoid 50 fall damage.

P-Ranking minos was insane for me, but I think cybergrind is a bigger challenge do reccomend trying to reach wave 50
I find it funny that for corpse of king Minos you can punch the coin against the wall over and over during the buildup to one shot him.

Also my man, congrats on this achievement. I know how painful it was because i felt way the same when i fight minos for the very first time
(Took me like 4 days to defeat him, right after i defeat him i spent like 2 hours to P-rank him, was a torture.... i play on violent since i played for the first time )
First time beating minos, about 200 attempts, then tried p-ranking him, like 3 attempts
yeah once you know his moveset and can react to them he's a pushover
speedrunners doing the "pull 4095 superricoshots out of their ass" strat to save 3 seconds on minos prime

My practice paid off! I said it on stream last night but I'm sorta glad it worked out the way it did even if it took me longer, getting a 2:11 was way more hype than some of my earlier runs which were in the 2:45 - 3+ minute range. Made for a better video in the end even if I had to suffer a little more haha. Thanks for watching!

I p-ranked pinos and as a person who engraved every move of his so deep in my mind that i possibly can kill him blindfolded, I’d say his hardest part is time limit and flesh prison. There was an attempt that was so close to p-rank, only 14 seconds from s-timer. It took me about 40 attempts after and when my luckiest attempt completed, i did it even with almost a minute of possible time. This was the moment, I could finally say for the first time in my life “i fucking made it”

Unlocked Minos just yesterday and killed him on standard difficulty after 5-6 tries. Then, thought that I'm cool and all and wasted half an hour p ranking him, and today, I thought, why won't I "speedrun" whole game on violent p ranking everything, including Minos? I did it in like 2-3 hours easily after standard p ranking Minos, and now I'm extremely proud of myself - first try Pinos :)
I remember how i firstly killed Pinos on Standard, it was so cool. Then quiet soon i managed to learn His movesets and FP's too so much, that Standard p-ranking Minos was easy. Then, i was afraid of getting to him on Violent, but to my surprise... first freaking try and P. Dayum, i was so proud of myself.... Good job Dumpster Man, p-ranking him is not an easy task, and even more hard of Violent. Good. freaking. job.

The mental gymnastics you need to get into to convince yourself to fight Minos Prime is completely worth it
I've been meaning to get to this! Finally had time and remembered at the same time. This was a very well-made video, with quality all around that I feel I'd expect from people with a thousand times the amount of subscribers you do. It's a crime, really, that you have under 1000 subscribers (as of writing this). I keep having to double, triple, and quadruple check to make sure, because it really doesn't feel like that should be the case.
Also, I think it's interesting that you were struggling on style points during Pinos. For me, I had probably three or four runs with A S S ranks (funni) before I got the triple S, since I struggled to get it under the 3:33. I remember I got a 3:39 once. That one hurt.
Anyway, congratulations! It's a big milestone. I look forward to whatever insanity the devs have planned for the new layers. Maybe someday I'll have time to catch your streams. I'm not usually the stream-catching type, but it looks like a lot of fun. See you there, hopefully!
I think I was so focused on NOT falling behind on time, that a lot of my practice early on was just focused on speed. Just like doing flesh prison really fast and then basically just 'surviving' Minos, which wasn't good enough for style evidently. Kind of funny though as it basically led to me inadvertently speedrunning the level in the end.
I appreciate the nice comment! It's funny to see people say stuff like that because meanwhile I'm like "why the hell do almost a thousand people watch this stuff"? But clearly something is working well!

my way of approaching games is "play on the hardest setting available and make my mind that is the only difficulty that i can play on" and there for improve faster and get comfortable with the uncomfortable
Not a bad approach but this has led me to rage out of more than one game, sometimes when they say "this difficulty is not meant for a first playthrough" they really mean it. For Ultrakill though, not a bad option, I was decently challenged on Standard and as a result I felt pretty comfortable when I got to Violent.

It's honestly crazy how fast you (as in anyone playing the game) improves in ultrakill as the player. It took me like 120 restarts to beat P-1 for the first time on standart and then I P ranked it on violent after less than a week. Comapring to something like DMC4 where I had almost no problems beating the game on hard, but harder difficulties are still incredibly hard for me, and I can't even think about S ranking the levels there

Here i am 1 year late (or 2) i just came here to say if you didnt know you can parry with the knuckleblaster but you might be thinking "but you cant" oh yes you can, when homing projectiles are almost next to you hold F with the knuckleblaster it works but you have to be experienced. Thank me for giving you that useful tip.

Took me like 70 attempts to beat Minos P on violent the first time I played the game, it was pain and suffering.
Played the cybergrind for a few days afterwards, somehow being anxious to even try Minos P again.
Came back and P-ranked him *twice* in like 20 minutes. It should be obvious but it's insane how learning his patterns makes him actually pretty alright.
(still can't P-rank P-2 tho)

Yeah I know this but I also kinda found that just doing as much DPS as possible to one-cycle it works just as well even if there's a small chance it heals if you aren't quite fast enough.

unrelated to the video but how long did it took y'all to realise that the entirety of the gluttony layer takes place inside the corpse of king minos
I thought this too, but it's kind of interesting actually. Hakita did a developer commentary stream recently, and on the topic of Gluttony, he said it doesn't necessary take place 'inside' the Corpse of Minos, but rather that Minos is one of the entryways to the Gluttony layer (which implies there are others). It's kind of funny to imagine it taking place inside his body either way, but I guess that wasn't necessarily Hakita's intent.
