I am so freaking sick of this. I want the US to ship every single advanced weapon system we have in whatever quantities necessary for as long as needed to ensure Putin loses big. Ukraine is in charge of how it accepts when the invaders are repelled, but I will be extremely disappointed if both Crimea and the entirety of the "separatist" areas are not reclaimed by their rightful owners.

If Putin finishes up with slightest acre of useful land that he didn't have before, then he could claim a victory, even if somewhat pyrrhic.
Three quarters of Ukraine's coastline and ports and 5-10% of Ukraine's territory is still a good prize if not the jackpot.

Why wpuld putin care about electorate as elections are fixed, ans why care about oligarchs when he wields power over then not the other way around. We are trying to beat Putin using our weatern ideals and approach to democracy but her is on another wavelength

What makes you think that Russian elections are fixed and any less democratic than any others around the world? It's a democracy, all mayors, governors and such are elected by popular vote. President too. Putin has worked hard to establish democratic institutions in Russia and has been fairly successful. Putin won in a fair election in 2018 and has a six year term that runs out in 2024. If the Russians don't like him they are free to replace him. But they won't because he's doing a great job and is very popular. The Russians may not like some things he's doing, but the alternative is European-style social democracy and a return to socialism, and the Russians hate socialism and communism more than anyone. I'm sure you'll just deny that but it's true. My guess is both Trump and Putin win re-election in 2024. Then the s will really hit the fan.

Neither of those were ever his as leader of Russia. His narcissism and psychopathy may make him think he has claim, but that is not the case. He may also be threatened recent smaller uprisings. Kazakhstan had an uprising in January. These uprisings tend to spark other ones. And he is old, fearful, and sickly in appearance. No one without a gun to their head would consider present day Putin as a macho man, a strong man. So he saber rattles while murdering his henchmen. It's an old story, isn't it? How terrible to be a dishonorable cliche responsible for the suffering of millions.
