      @@malcolmhamilton8090 The good thing is it's a manual transmission so he doesn't have to floor it to make it go really high in the RPMs. I would guess or hope that he's not even getting near 50% throttle, but even then it yeah it really is amazing that this thing didn't go kaboom from bilene mixture. I really wish he had an air fuel gauge so we could see what was going on with that.

      @@daxter2255 Even if it does not have fuel tables for above vacuum, it does have mass air flow tables I would bet, and they normally extend above any MAF readings a stock engine would hit. Also if the O2 sensors pick up a lean condition they will richen the AFRs. It would not effect WOT but if he isn't going WOT it could be compensating via that way as well

    I miss my ranger, first vehicle I ever had as a daily. It was so slow and I live in the south so I would floor it everywhere. Max speed was like 70 so I never got in trouble. It was so slow the cops didn’t even mess with me. Best decision I ever made was keeping the ranger when I got an actual car, I still got the ranger in my yard all it needs is a new engine. I’ve drove all kinds of vehicles up to a 2021 trailblazer and by far my favorite is still the ranger. Took me years to appreciate how cool these trucks are

    • @Smokeyjoedamanedamythdalegend
      @Smokeyjoedamanedamythdalegend Před 7 měsíci +6

      Best thing too is they are so light anytime it rains the truck wants to drift on turns. It’s controllable tho, you accidentally go into a drift and know you’re gonna be fine. If you did crash it’s a ranger it’s gonna perfectly fine. I’ve had a lifted Cherokee ram into a line of traffic, cause a 4 car pile up with me in the middle of it, not a scratch on my ranger. I actually totaled the car behind me when the Cherokee caused it to rear end me.

    Cool video. I did want to mention I know this is an old video, but when you lengthen that rod to the wastegate spring, what you're doing is you're compressing the spring so you're effectively increasing the pressure that the boost has to overcome to open the wastegate. So that would actually raise your max PSI not lower it. Now you can shorten the rod to a degree but it's encased in that brass colored housing so you can only shorten it so much. Usually those have like eight PSI springs. It really depends on what you took it out of. I don't know if you can change the spring in those or not, but that's basically what you need to do is either put in a softer spring so it takes less bush pressure to overcome. So it opens the wastegate at less PSI so it lowers your max PSI. Also, I know for some of The EcoBoost engines there's aftermarket companies that make replacement rods and wastegate springs and diaphragms just that that whole setup for like 100 bucks but then they're supposed to be stronger. Although I don't know if you need that but hopefully you can also adjust in that way too. Because yeah with no tune and I assume those are just using the 19 lb injectors you're going to be running out of fuel really fast. Now it shouldn't make a difference during cruising It's when you really put a lot of load on it when you really push the gas pedal down and open that throttle valve. That's when it's really going to need more gas. Technically, if you never push in the gas pedal very hard you'd probably be fine, but I know to a degree you can put bigger injectors on and then if you just get a bigger maf housing depending on what type of maf it uses. I know that some of the police interceptor crown vics had an 80 mm mafs. You might look and see if that has the same type of maf and you can just swap that in and then proportionally in size you can bring your injectors to a bigger size but eventually you want to tune it if you can because that really can't account for like throttle tip in and you can't change your ignition timing. And even with fueling, I'm not sure that the fuel ratios, especially at high load at wide open throttle are going to be very safe. But at a very low boost and with a high octane. Hopefully you have 93 and not 91, or even better if you can get E85 and that actually has a cooling effect as well. You might be okay just like that. I really am surprised that when you got on it it didn't go lean. You should really get an air fuel ratio gate so you can watch that on all of my boosted cars. I do an air fuel ratio gauge the vacuum boost cage and a fuel pressure gauge. I feel like those are the three mandatory things you want for boost. Sorry I know that was super long and this is really old but I hope it helped

    The only reason your boost Guage would be reading "0" is if the engine is off. When not in boost it should be reading intake vacuum meaning you should be reading well below "0" so if your Guage is at zero then you have a leak in your boost Guage hose or the Guage itself is bad.

  • @351cleavland
    @351cleavland Před rokem +4

    I am baffled how the fuel system/injectors can keep up with the air coming in. Stock injectors are about 19lbs in a 3.0 FFV.(14lbs for a non ffv) They can handle about 29 HP per injector which means that they are going to reach their limit around 180 HP. Anything more that is going to run lean.
    I beleive a stock 3.0 is about 145 HP. That means, very simplified, that there is about 35 HP more to grab. A turbo at 15LBS boost is for sure going to push more than that.
    Those injectors can probably do okay during part throttle. Full throttle is a different story. Once that happens all sorts of risks increase.
