christine pierce American Bandstand performances were always lip synced and mimed. None of their equipment here is plugged in. But they did play & sing live in other shows.
I miss those years. At my 50 years old I consider my self so lucky to be able to grow, live and enjoy that such beautiful time, and with the best music ever.
Joseph Schneider I totally agree! So glad to be young in the 80’s, we may never see anything like the 80’s again, that music brought everyone together for good times and great memories!
They were in my opinion The "Best" Family Group to do American Bandstand next to The Jackson Five. Even My Father (RIP) was impressed by them to the point he turned on the Volume of The TV Set.
I hate when people think if you're young, you automatically hate music like this. or you "don't know anything about it." I'm 11 years old and all I listen to is eighties music.
Just saw these guys perform live this past weekend at an island music festival here in San Diego. They were so awesome live!!! And to meet them in person was even better. Love you guys!!!

They looked good back then. 30 years later, still looking good.
Dance routines are awesome! This was one of my favorites back in the day. Keep practicing the dance moves and you will get them. You are never to old to pickup dancing and take dance lessons. The best exercise ever!
Born in '91 and this is on my top 20 favorite songs of all time. The Jets need more recognition for sticking to their roots and not becoming more modernized. Their still performing to this day.
And just like that... I’m instantly transported to the living room of my mothers home with my five siblings the day it aired ... rockin my knees back and forth 😆 . I loved them!
A girl named Ann at my school back in the 80s dressed just liked them. This group had the voice, talent, moves and styles that made the 80s. Great times back then and great music.
I can't believe how fast time went by all these years. I was only 10 years old when this song came out , now I'm in my mid-50s. I will say I do miss music like this. Back then it was great and it was exciting plus it was enjoyable to listen too. Nowadays you're lucky if you can find a good song or two. I do appreciate what we had throughout the 1980s and I'm glad I grew up throughout the 80s too. Good times and great entertainment. Bands like this are hard to come by today.
And remember...these weren't grown men and women. The youngest of the group was 12...they were all teenagers in '85. And they could sing, play instruments and dance their asses off!!!! Talk about a triple threat!!!
A Classic.....This is so the epitome of the '80's: the hair, dance moves, fashion & sound! :) -don't know if this is really considered part of 'The Minneapolis Sound', tho' - being that they are from Mpls
Same here! Everytime i see their "Crush On U" Video it gets me so Excited & I always jump up in front of the TV & start doing the Hip-Leg Shimmy Dance wirh them😂💃🏽💃🏽🎶🎵
If you was a teen in the 80's. 13-19. You knew who The Jets, Debarge, New Edition, Madonna, Wham, Culture Club, Duran, Duran, and Pat Benetar was. There are a few others, but y'all get my point... The whole decade was kool man.
Creo fue 1985 oh el 84 la primera vez que escuché esra canción y bi este vídeo ya desde entonses ah pasado toda una vida en la disco yo sacaba esos pasos que bellos recuerdos gracias por compartir
Teary as I watch this, in my 20s when the Jets had their hey day, they were cute, talented and fun to watch and they had the hits, the 80s were a great time to be alive and the music was the bomb, to quote the great Cher "If I could turn back time".....
Moana was 12 and Elizabeth was 13 when this video was shot. Dick Clark did a interview with the group on this AB episode and they gave their ages. I was shocked at how young they were. I agree with you that they sound very mature for their ages. I was especially shocked when Elizabeth said that she was 12 yrs old when they recorded "You got it all" (in another video).
I wish they had done Top Of The Pops in The UK, The Kids would have loved them. If you were a UK Popstar and did that show you had arrived. Even My Father (RIP) was impressed by them.
THE JETS W GARRY HIXON...ya i do remember this in 1986 i was so drunk at 21 yrs old and way stoned on pot its amazing seeing this shit what great dancing it was unbelevable too bad they didnt film the tour we did
On this day in 1986 {April 19th} the Jets performed "Crush On You" on Dick Clark's ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time the song was at position #63 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, nine weeks later it would peak at #3* {for 2 weeks} and it spent twenty weeks on the Top 100... It reached #4 on both the Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart and Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart... Between 1985 and 1990 the Minneapolis, Minnesota family group had twelve records on the Hot Soul Singles chart, four made the Top 10 with their biggest hit being, "You Got It All", it peaked at #2 {for 1 week} in 1987, and the week it was at #2, the #1 record for that week was "Let's Wait Awhile" by Janet Jackson... Besides "Crush On You" and "You Got It All", their two other Top 10 records were "Curiosity" {#8 in 1985} and "Rocket 2 U" {#5 in 1988}... *And from the 'For What It's Worth' department; for the two weeks "Crush On You" was at #3 on the Top 100 chart, the #2 record was "There'll Be Sad Songs" by Billy Ocean and at #1 was "On My Own" by Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald...
The,jets debarge. Etc etc bandas esoectaculares y bellas. 80tas se, quedaron en nuestros ,corazones por siempre. Asuuuuu ....lima, peru y tida la bella musica ,de lis 69,70 y 80tas ...
I remember dancing with a pro dancer to the Wolf Grams... Lol, I was in my late 30's and she came into my Radio Shack. It was around 1985/86.She asked me to dance. 💃🕺It just started on the ghetto blaster. I was wearing my Oscar De Laurentis suit. Hmmm...we were a couple!
I'm still a high schooler and the variety and diversity of artists and music stakes was so exciting and energetic and positive, I never took it for granted and I would NEVER trade that for what is happening nowadays, we were blessed well back in that era, nothing but TALENT.
OMG I was there when this was taped. The Jets were the coolest. Their music...the dancing....singing voice...perfection.
Omg 😱 are you serious? What state was this at?
@@Flysway7 Los Angeles, California. It was Three Years before it was cancelled.

One of the most underrated bands ever..Saw them live..To move while playing and singing is certainly no small task. Such an awesome band
Sorry to burst your bubble but they were lip syncing. Least it's to their own jam lol
@@racing747 the concert I saw..they weren’t lip syncing..They were dancing and singing with a great deal of ad-libbing.
They are Touring in 2024
That side to side knee motion they do is so smooth yet I can't do it worth a damn. The girls are great
All in have hips

thata great! I started loving oldies music since a lil girl mainly disco,, classic rock and mod cool and hi fellow old music lover
I was 14when this song came out, today I can't stop playingnthis video
I actually saw that episode when it aired! I really loved The Jets, and I loved the cool AB logo!
Noticed the AB logo tried to flash in sync with the rhythm of the song. I just noticed that and I too saw the performance on ABC in April 1986.
THEY DANCING THEIR ASS OF...86 WAS A GREAT YR
Truly talented 80s group, able to bring it live with vocals, instruments, and dance.

This is my childhood and I couldn’t be happier and relieved.
The 80s was the most magical decade ever and I’m so very grateful I was part of it .
Born in '91 and this is on my top 20 favorite songs of all time. The Jets need more recognition for sticking to their roots and not becoming more modernized. Their still performing to this day.
The leg/hip shake thingy can not be imitated or duplicated
The Jets and New Edition were so damn good. Vibes....
Right? You can't see it without thinking of Crush on You.
