  • The Apple AirPods Pro (Generation 2) are the new update to Apple's premium truly wireless earbuds.
While not specifically designed for running, the AirPods Pro 2 do carry a sweat and water resistant design and features like active noise cancellation, physical controls and a level of sound quality that can make them a good pair to have in your ears when you lace up your running shoes.
Apple has promised better ANC, bigger sound, improved battery life and a new adaptive transparency mode on the Pro 2 among other new changes from the original AirPods Pro.
Testers Mike and Nick have been putting the Pro 2 to the test to see what they're made of and whether these are headphones to grab for your next run.

The AirPods Pro fit perfectly with my ears. Best wireless headphones I’ve ever had

I really can’t stand the thud thud from buds in the ear canal. It is a deal breaker.

I've got version 1 and, after buying aftermarket wingtips like Nick did, they have been far away the best earphones I've ever had and not just for running, love mine but don't need an upgrade just yet!

Had to send mine back as didn't work with the Epix 2. Playback would cut out. Airpods Pro 1 have no issues.

Nick and I are the same person. Really slim feet and loose earbud issues lol.

Now that I mostly use a Garmin 245 Music, I need buttons on my running headphones so I can adjust the volume and skip tracks. So I stopped using the AirPods that I used to use with my iPhone.

I bought the Pro 2s. I personally feel the noice cancelling is too strong for running. I always heard a bicycle, fellow runner or car approaching with the original Pros with ANC on. After a few recent scares, I almost feel a bit worried about using ANC while running in traffic. I would like to have a setting between transparency mode and full noice cancelling. Otherwise the Pro 2a are fantastic, minus some iOS 16 Bluetooth issues.

It’s natural to feel worried about using anc while running in traffic, especially after having had a few scares. The reason being is that it’s a really stupid thing to do. Best thing to do is stop running in traffic I reckon.

I’ve been on two runs since buying them and I can’t keep them in my ears so disappointing so far
