  • How To Remove Builder Gel At Home Safely
    Soak off Builder Gels, Builder In A Bottle (BIAB), Liquid Builder Gels and soak off Polygel copies are so popular these days. I will always say that these are professional products and should be applied and removed by a professional to prevent nail damage and over exposure/allergies to nail products. However, I also know that it's better to remove a product the right way, and sometimes people just can't make it to a nail tech, or you might be newly qualified and struggling with your method. This video is to show you how to easily and safely do a DIY gel nail removal. However, if you have a file off gel product on your nails, as the name suggests, you will need to file it off to remove it, but you can follow the method in this video to do that too, just omit the bit about soaking with acetone. Also if you don't have a nail drill/efile, or you aren't confident using one, then just use a 100/180 nail file in place of the steps where I use my efile. Remember when you are almost at your natural nail to swap to a file no lower than a 240 grit. I have included links below of files which are both used in this video and suitable in place of an efile.

    I use finger cots over the soaked pads. They're tight and cause the acetone to sink into the product. The acrylic and gel come off completely in 10-15 mins. It melts away and just swabs off.

      Thank you but my natural nails are so hard and brittle that without a gel overlay they just snap off in one piece 😢this is why I love gel so much!

      Apparently you can’t soak off hard gel. Just had to cut off 6 months worth of growth because hard gel can’t be soaked off. My nails do better w soaking than filing , because nail techs in my area tend to file to the bare fcking nail. Just ab word of warning in case you can’t remove it yourself.

      It took me 1 hour on each hand . And I used a efile too. 🤪 Took me 2 days to do them both. 😫

    Just watched your video regarding allergy's. i have had acrylics at a salon. i have used poly gel's. i have also used Naio nails build in a bottle. when soaking off acrylic and naio nails with acetone. I have found i have a reaction to the acyrlic and acetone. is there anything else or ways i can use to take off the nails without triggering a reaction? thank you

  • @kare7714

    Woowwww nice explanation 🎉 Im a beginner and I removed my moms builder gel with only a E file and I felt bad cause I burned her nails even though I tried not to apply too much pressure and I cut her a little bit with a bit I used 😭 I tried to remove only gel builder but her nail resulted very weak and they bend. Is that normal? Cant I leave the old builder gel on and just fill in the nail growth area with more builder gel?

    Hi Natasha! I was able to find the drill bits on the US Amazon and get what I want in my "nail art" wishlist. Do you prefer Carbide over ceramic?

    • @NatashaLeeDivine
      @NatashaLeeDivine  Před 4 lety

      Yes personally I do. I have ceramic and I don’t use them as I don’t personally find they perform as well as my carbide

    So how would you remove a builder gel that you can't soak off? I realize you have to file it off but do you leave a thin layer on the natural nail and let it grow out?

    • @NatashaLeeDivine
      @NatashaLeeDivine  Před 4 lety +5

      Loraine Greenhalgh I mention this in the description. Instead of soaking off you file with an efile or 100/180 until you have the thinnest layer left. Then very lightly buff it off with a 240 grit file stopping when you reach the natural nail and moving to another area. You want to avoid filing the natural nail where you can as it thins it. Hope that helps ♥️

    My nails are normally really strong. I don't grow them really long, simply because I do a lot of crafting and stuff. What I did find, with the soaking off of gel with acetone, is that it weakened my nails, I don't do it any more. (Not that I often apply gel). Instead, if I need to, I make sure to use a clear or nude base gel, adding any colour over that. I use an e file to remove the bulk and lifting. Take it as far down as I safely can and cover with a normal nail polish clear coat. Allow the rest to grow out. Like you, if I wanted to keep gel, I'd just do maintenance.

    Where are the nail removal clips from? I got a pair from Amazon but they’re so tiny and don’t really fit my fingers

    • @NatashaLeeDivine
      @NatashaLeeDivine  Před 3 lety +1

      They are from protipclips.com/ (ProTipClips). This video is years old now, and lots of companies have tried to copy them, but I still have both the mani and pedi clips from the original creator ProTipClips, and they are still working perfectly, and were used in my salon multiple times per day. Hope that helps ♥️

    I always hate it when people say that acrylic and gel damage your nails when they're the ones who rip the product off
