palebeachbum watching this yet again a year later. Still blown away how good these 90’s car ads were. Makes you want to go out and test drive this 960 (and buy one).
not a volvo fan, but I was obsessed with the 960 from '95 - '98. had 4 or them: 95 - 98. still have the 98. Still a very handsome and stately car. interestingly enough, my father, whom i met for the first time in 2011, had 3, including a silver one like one i had. cant escape dna
Haha, that is a very good story! I have Volvo dna as well, my father owned a 265, 245, 740 and a 960(v90). And from my mother's side an uncle always drove 240's and a 760 sedan. So naturally I owned a 740, 940, 850 and now an S70:)
My parents got me a 1993 volvo 960 in 2010 when I was in my sophomore year in high school. It broke down after a year but it was an amazing car. I still miss it to this day. :
My granddad still owns a 960 -95 in the golden metallic, it's hideous and beautiful at the same time! He doesn't drive anymore due to old eyes but can't sell it since it's his baby. We usually take it out for a ride when I'm visiting, watching the old mans face light up is priceless. Great Car
What an amazing car. I had a 960 1996 and loved it. It served me well. I really felt like I was driving a tank. I was also a first responder and saw so many deadly accidents. Cars would get destroyed and drivers get extremely injured. The 960 gave me that confidence that it would protect me if ever I would get into an accident with a bigger sized vehicle. I gave the car to my dad and he didn’t take car of it. I got very busy and couldn’t follow up. My dad ended up scrapping the car. Till this day I immensely regret giving him the car…I’m trying to find a clean 960 to buy. I don’t have the time to restore it…
Every now and then I see this video I picked up my first born in this car I picked up my second daughter too from the hospital. Mine is a 1997 960 wagon fully loaded I bought it 10 years ago on an auction for only 1500 bucks with only 90k miles mint came from a rich family in a big estate in Connecticut. The lady past away and the car was put in a garage for 2 years with a cover. Now i have this crazy nice wagon. Someone offered me 7k for it. I will keep driving it until needs a full restoration and either drive it another 10 Years or sell It for a no less than 10k offer restored

I bought a 98' S90 earlier this year (S90 is just a renamed 960), got her originally just because I was looking for a second car and she was in amazing condition, but this car quickly changed my mind about any preconceived notions I had about Volvo. Kudos to the designers and engineers who worked on this car in the 90s, it is a complete and utter masterpiece, a pleasure to drive and be in. And if I do say so myself it is a gorgeous design. 👌 Also, yes this car has an absolutely ridiculously tight turning circle for it's size.
@@benjamindoyle668 Even more ironic that early fwd 850s had quite a good turning circle, 10.2 or 10.5 I think it was. Not sure wtf happened starting with the 98 C70. Ask me how I know.......!

I miss my Volvo 960 it was my first car, it was a fun car to drive and it was comfortable. Of course, it was only 800 dollars and 20 years old when I got it back in highschool but it was a good car. It had a good exhaust note too. It had a deep rumble, at least the one I had did.
My Dad got an 850 Turbo in 95. I learned to drive in that car and took my license test in it. It was so fun with good tires. Unfortunately the car was totaled when my dad was rear ended at over 40mph while he was stopped. He was essentially fine with slight whiplash. It was supposed to be my first car. I yearn for one.
Man time is going by so fast. I remember test driving these when they first came out. Very impressive car at the time. I ended up buying an Audi A6 that I kept for about 16 years and put about 560,000 miles on it. Thanks for posting this video. I still see a lot of these Volvo's still running on the Hwy's here in Atlanta.

Little did buyers realize that fixing anything in this and the S90 were a pain in the ass. unlike the other Volvos of this era, this and the S90 placed things in horrible locations. such as the Neutral Safety (PNP) switch being located literally attached to the transmission on the bottom of the car instead of under the air filter box like all of the other Volvos. shit mine is pissing me off to no end.
