Cloudy water, also known as white water, is caused by air bubbles in the water. It is completely harmless. It usually happens when it is very cold outside because the solubility of air in water increases as water pressure increases and/or water temperature decreases. Learn some science.
So pumped on this. Just tried it with one of the hats i have that looked soooo boxy and it got rid of the points completely. No wrinkles at all and i used a dry wash rag instead of paper towels and it actually stretched out a little bit to a bigger size. Thanks a lot man.
I use a similar method to this (but usually for snap backs) just to lower the crown of the hat. Same idea. I work the high spots slightly to soften them, but instead of wearing the hat until it's dry I stuff a towel inside of it and make it the shape that I'd like. Then let it dry. It's obviously easier with a snap back because it's adjustable so shrinkage is not an issue.
Hey man! Great advice, got my hat to the perfect shape from watching this video.. I didn't however use the paper towels as I felt it might make the hat loose! I just kept my hat on all day until it dried, not entirely comfortable but worth it in the end! Cheers
Tried this with a 80% poly/20% wool and did make the whole hat look much more even and cylindrical. It did shrink the size somewhat but that is what I wanted a tighter fit. I did it 2x with the same hat without the paper towels with a nice result.
Hey man Great advice. From using this video my hat is now the perfect shape! I didn't however use the paper towels as I felt it might make my hat too loose. Instead I just kept my hat on for most the day until it dried ..a little uncomfortable but well worth it in the end! Thanks again.
Great method! Obviously this works best with the wool, but I had some success with a poly. I also cut out that mesh inside the crown. I had tried using a heat gun and a screen printing dryer to fit the hat right before with some success, but this is much easier way with less chance of ruining your hat.
Good video dude, it work for me as I'm between sizes. Size 7 is too tight and Size 7 1/8 is too big. So I tried ur method and got it wet with hot wear it wet on my heand unil it dries and now I fits perfectly. Thanks for the helpful vidwo.
@SchwartzVideo what if you want to shrink the hat and get rid of the crown? would you use your method to shrink the crown and then spray it to shrink it and then wear it without paper towels in?
@InvisibleXplosion I agree! I wear the hat and even sweat in them and the stickers are not necessary when the hat is absorbing the sweat in the sweltering heat.
Would you recommend getting a size up for this method? Meaning I am a 7 3/8 but don't want it to shrink to a 7 1/8, would you recommend buying a 7 1/2 just in case?
I think it's a matter of opinion. I think you look fine with the boxy hat look, as do many other people. I don't even notice the weird look you talk about. Nonetheless, I also like how it looks after. I'm just incredibly nervous to do this to any of my hats.
Hey does this work with SnapBacks aswell because yesterday at the mall I bought a young and reckless snap back but I Sony like the way the crown fits on my head
to all you guys saying his water is nasty....the reason it looks like that is because its hot. its the steam in the water making it look like that. go run your faucet as hot as possible into a cup and look into it. looks the same . if you let it sit it will become clear like normal water.
Hi! Really good video. I have two questions: 1) This method works with new MLB hats (100% polyester)? 2) How can I get the same beautiful rounded brim?
Hey I tried that on a new era cap and since it is using the newer materials. forming it has been an issue. Just out of curiosity why do people leave the stickers on the cap. Is it some sort of fashion statement people are making.
ive had 5950s that looked like it did when it was wet, thats how i like them too look almost like one of the softer cotton hats but the 5950, when i saw it when it was wet i was like yes! this kid just solved all my problems then it dried and i was like yea it looks better but not perfect, good thinking tho maybe one more time under the water
why your cap are curved?i love these new era curved cap and don't really the full flat cap that much........... what is the model name pro on-field? performance?49 thirty?
Funny. You can find everything on YT. Even the solution of my "problems". By the way, do you know if there is a name for this typical round brim shape of a field cap?
what did you do to make it shrink? because i have a 7 3/8 when im a 7 1/8 and it would kinda be a waste of 20$ if i couldnt get it to fit (cause i bought it off my friend).
@BiHSoLo i did that with a recently bought new era and it worked just fine. you dont even have to get the whole thing wet btw, just the rim on the inside. wear it around the house or whatever, and it eventually will start fitting to your head more and more (if its not gigantic lol.)
Savage Troller who the fuck are you? My comment is in reply to dx Wolf I'm not even talking to you. In the case you misread my comment, I suggest you re-read it, it is in agreement to you.
@aznerd999 i take the stickers off my hats except for the ones with a white bill, that way you can grab onto the sticker when you're holding it and the grease and dirt on your fingers won't get the white bill dirty
Cloudy water, also known as white water, is caused by air bubbles in the water. It is completely harmless. It usually happens when it is very cold outside because the solubility of air in water increases as water pressure increases and/or water temperature decreases. Cold water holds more air than warm water. In the winter, water travels from the reservoir which is very cold and warms up during its travel to your tap. The air that is present is no longer soluble, and comes out of solution.
I got a nice DC Shoes New Era cap today from my brother, it's a 7. 3/8, but it's really like 7. 3/4, Do you think i can shrink it to an 3/8 ? crown is also prettty high :(
I got a new stl cards hat and I wear a 7 5/8 but my other two that size fit great and this one for some reason is too big to where the bill is over my eyebrows and loose what could I do to fix that?
Lol, "if you don't have a sink, you're out of luck". I guess homeless people will be stuck with a boxy-shaped Era 59Fifty cap.
Word around is he is still wearing the hat to this day.
"The reason why you don't wanna get it on the brim.." then he soaks the brim LOOL
Why is milk coming out of your faucet
XD lol not sure why but hot water tends to have more bubbles
LOL
I saw the same thing!!!!

Its called HOT water, looks cloudy
Cool video bro... Outstanding and useful information, but I am worried about that hard water....
10% thanking the user for tips
90% talking about how the water is foggy
just got my first 59fifty and I am in the process of doing this (cap is still VERY slightly moist) it's looking better already. YOU ARE AWESOME
Laughing at all the people that have, apparently, never seen hot water coming out of a faucet before.

If anyone is interested, his water is cloudy because of air bubbles not because it's nasty.

Good video dude, it work for me as I'm between sizes. Size 7 is too tight and

@SchwartzVideo
what if you want to shrink the hat and get rid of the crown? would you use your method to shrink the crown and then spray it to shrink it and then wear it without paper towels in?
Wow, thanks for this video! I just started wearing hats, and I felt ridiculous wearing them with a big crown..
This helped me a lot thanks.

@SchwartzVideo Does this work on the MLB authentic collection hats?If not, what will?
ive had 5950s that looked like it did when it was wet, thats how i like them too look almost like one of the softer cotton hats but the 5950, when i saw it when it was wet i was like yes! this kid just solved all my problems then it dried and i was like yea it looks better but not perfect, good thinking tho maybe one more time under the water

It has to be a warm water or it can be done whatever the temperature of the water?
Funny. You can find everything on YT. Even the solution of my "problems".

Is the AU an auburn u. cap? Where did you get it?
i have a red and white cardinals stars and stripes hat. will the hot water cause the red to bleed and the white front panels to turn pink?
@BiHSoLo i did that with a recently bought new era and it worked just fine. you dont even have to get the whole thing wet btw, just the rim on the inside. wear it around the house or whatever, and it eventually will start fitting to your head more and more (if its not gigantic lol.)
