Richie was right about New Era 5950 hats being somewhat inconsistent in sizing. I think this is just due to the manufacturing process, as it's always been that way. But what he's wrong about, and which directly contradicts his first point, is that he says the FoG hats are 'always big' - they're not any different than a normal 5950, because they're literally just a normal 5950.
i only wear 5950 and can confirm each are different, im a 7 5/8 but i got some really snug and some really loose, some also have more of the actual hat n comes down to my ears and some only comes down half way to my ears

New era needa fix these lil flaws in their production its mad annoying and probably stems from rushing their products out/not placing enough importance on accurate details and quality of each hat. Its sad. Super annoying. Almost made me not want to continue collecting bc every other hat i get has a crookedly sewn on brim, fucked up panels, improper sizing, , dents around the logo, or comes with a cracked brim. Its like playing the lottery, and really shouldnt be. They should be able to ensure that the hat is perfect and the same size/quality everytime. Idk how that shit is so hard they def a multimillion if not more dollar company… get ur shit together newera. I mean we all gonna continue to buy em anyway tho but if it gets bad enough as ive been seeing it definitely get worse and have hats arrive with more flaws more frequently.. people are gonna be hesitant to buy fitteds online not wanting to partake in the gamble of it being made properly and fitting properly. Whats the point of spending your hard earned money on a fitted that says its a certain amount of inches and actually isnt, and or looks stupid when u wear it bc they sewed the brim on off centre. Like cmon now. These should be issues that are needing to be fixed ASAP. But instead they just rushing more and more to keep up with demand and letting the flaws get more and more plentiful. It's always been fitted or die but as I've gotten older I've come to like snapbacks, they got different designs that aren't really on fitted hats, just bought my first off hat club and it's dope!

I got the same head and hair as Johnny. I go into the office with the on the fly ball cap by lululemon with my dress clothes and it still looks very formal. Highly recommend it for a more premium and grown look.

Fifty Nine 50 low profile is my go to....squares off my round head...and keeps the head from looking to big. got 4 new hats being made......2 for business and branding....and 2 are my personalization take on an MLB design. Good fun.....and i lost the hair battle too ;)

I remember my 1st fitted cap. I called it a "Pro Cap" growing up in the 90s cuz that's what the pros wore. SF Giants 6 5/8ths and was still big lol dad had to search far and wide for that size. Now u can get any size anywhere.

I like the actual vintage snapbacks and trucker hats from the 80s and 90s. I like the more “boxy” crown on hats. I don’t like rounded crown hats like 59fitteds, 5 panel hats, and dad hats.
I thought I was crazy. When I got my fitted fog it fit perfectly but after a while it’s started to fit tighter I thought my head was getting bigger. Now I know rich.

Good video! By the way, the brims in any modern hat is plastic(hence the cracking). Cardboard brims were phased out in the late 80’s and did not last as long as the plastic brims.

Most fitteds are inconsistent in size since they’re mass produced, I wear a 7 3/8 new era 59/50 fitted. They’re never the same fit so it’s best to try it on if u can before you buy. I bought 2 hats from Compound in 7 3/8. One is definitely tighter than the other even if it’s the same size listed. The hats today are either 80% polyester/20%wool. Some can be 90/10. These 2 will shrink a little bit. But if it’s 100% poly, then forget it. That will definitely not shrink. Just passing on some knowledge I learned from experience.
I used to “break” the brim of my hats, but now I use Johnny’s technique with a water bottle in the middle of the brim (make sure the brim hugs the bottle while you’re bending it) and it works great 👌🏼
That’s way too much work use the crease line right between your fingers and palms to grip the brim, then fold your fingers bending the brim till both your knuckles are touching each other. Continue bending till your desired curve

As someone with a very extensive 59fifty collection, I can appreciate some of these rules but at the end of the day, wear your hat how you want. I’ve seen guys purposely make a boxy brim because that’s what they want. Do I like that? Not at all, but who am I to tell them they’re wrong?
I collect fitteds but I wear every fitted I’ve ever bought. I keep the bill pretty straight with maybe a slight arch, and I turn the hat slightly to my left. Why? Who knows. I went to an Astros game this past week with my McCann Braves jersey on, and an Oakland A’s hat on. I got called out and stares, but I was comfy.
Fitted hats are tricky when it comes to sizing. It’s either too big or you can get a size that looks good on your head but it’s feel too tight. But who cares about comfort as long as it looks good😂

Woo boy! I needed this so bad. I've had a flat brim fitted hat for so long and sometimes it looks good and other times it looks goofy as fuck. I never wanted to bend it hard for the reason they said, it could break, so mine has alwaga been a flat brim with a slight curve. I just did their curve method, absolute game changer, the hat even fits better
This is the way to go. Never fully flat but never curved all the way because that looks even goofier. Slight curve

Most people wont really care but you will run into a few people who feel a type of way about what team you wear . How ever there could be some gang affiliated caps but unless you travel through a rough neighborhood on a daily i dont really see too much of a problem i guess just keep that in mind when you wear baseball caps around the states
