Are you really completely unaware of Ukraine's history of steep corruption? Do your homework and you'll find that Zelenskyy has PLENTY of dirty laundry. Not saying that makes Russia better, but the world decided NOT to scoop Ukraine up under its wing for decades for good reason...just as it isn't throwing itself into harm's way now to defend it.

I disagree. I think most people reside in the gray area on many issues. The extremes just talk more & louder. I mean...if you feel strongly about something, you prob are more likely to be vocal about it. The extremes are the no gray area. I'm thankful I grew up in the golden age of television when the History Channel, A&E, TLC etc. were educational, informative, instructional AND entertaining. Now they lack quality programming becoming junk TV.

They once stood for the working class and even created national health service (universal socialised healthcare) paid completely through taxes.
Now, they're neoliberal and more about identity and less about the housing crisis where no one can afford to buy a home anymore.
A real labour party would have nationalised housing and made it available to all free based on number of dependents, paid through taxation.
And just so you know, New Zealand is run by a majority labour govt under Jacinda ardern. She won't touch the housing crisis, she just wriggles out of the questions like a typical 21st century politician. Meanwhile homes in new Zealand are typically $1.5 million anywhere there is a city nearby for, you know, a job.

There is no conspiracy to “turn boys into girls.” Trans people have existed in every society on Earth for all of human history. They might have had different cultural understandings of it, but the phenomenon itself is evidently universal.
Most trans people experience physiological distress/pain about their physical sex traits, and transition to another gender to alleviate that. The opposite would happen to normal cis people; if they had become confused about themselves and tried hormones they’d get real uncomfortable real quick and stop before any lasting effects happened. There is no risk of boys mistakenly becoming girls, because unlike a trans girl a boy will cling onto being a boy - if intersex boys are any indication, their masculinity will shine through even if their penises were cut off at birth and they were raised as girls. They _will_ know who they are, just as we do.
It does nothing for nobody to say that trans women “aren’t real women” because by every meaningful trait that can define gender (anatomy, hormones, cultural norms, legal status) we are functionally identical to cis women. If you try to exclude us, you _will_ end up excluding some cis women, too.
Are we not subject to the same individual freedom to live our lives as we see fit as anyone else?
Plus, I don’t know how you can claim to be a Maher fan when your comment sounded like something Tucker Carlson would say word for word.

Sorry to hear this. Families should always be supportive. I've always had the opposite problem since I was a little girl. I'm now a senior citizen and strangers still make comments on how "skinny" I look and I hate it. I totally understand how frustrating it must be for people who need to diet all the time because they gain weight easily. However, body shaming is hurtful and rude no matter what body shape one has.

I watch every week and the climax of NEW RULES is the best part of every episode. I often watch this final segment more than once and even revisit them years later. This particular point is one of the best I’ve ever watched. You’ve hit on something noteworthy in American culture. While it is mostly entertaining for its oddity, your point about the ACLU implicitly changing its mission is a very important one. When the most important institutional supporter of our most important liberal principle loses its North Star, it is time to be very concerned.
Thank you giving this issue the spotlight it deserves.

This was a masterful performance from Bill Maher. I know Bill doesn’t care for references to his age but I think it’s incredible that in his 60s Bill still has such an edge. Reminiscent of George Carlin.
I agree with most of what he said but he's dead wrong about Tucker Carlson. Pointing out that Ukraine has been bombing civilians in the 2 breakaway regions is NOT Russian talking points. It proves what mouthpieces for the industrial war machine our media is as they smear him. Tucker should come on Maher's show and give him a ratings boost.

George Washington warned about political factions before he retired from the presidency. He was seeing what was going on between the Federalists, and the various Democratic and Republican groups that were forming at the time and he knew it would lead to even worse tribalism.

As an Eagle Scout, I really have doubts about sending my son into Boy Scouts now. Boy Scouts was a great venue for me to learn how to be... a boy. A courteous, kind, thrifty, trustworthy and respectful boy (now a man kindof). All I can say is if there are girls in Boy Scouts, it's going to be a competition to impress the girls. A distraction. There are people who would say, "well boys need to learn how to not be distracted by girls", but that simply will not happen. Sometimes it's ok to separate genders, and sometimes it's necessary and good. I'm a moderate and definitely lean left on a lot of topics, but seriously some of these things are extremely obnoxious.
Was it a distraction when Boy Scouts admitted black kids? The Girl Scouts is not equivalent to the Boy Scouts, it's a totally different organization. The Cub Scouts, which is part of the Boy Scouts, already admits girls. Not to mention the Boy Scouts is a private organization and can do whatever they want. Lastly your comment reminds me of my old high school teacher. He told us, long ago, when the school was all boys, and he was against integrating girls. But once the girls came, he realized he had been wrong.
You do realize the troops are not co-ed, don’t you? There are boy troops and girl troops. As a Scout you also know the history of Scouting started in the UK and there are Scout troops in countries around the world. 95% of them allow girls to join. Most that don’t are in the Middle East. It’s about time we separated ourselves from that group.

And I'd just like to add that, for the longest time, the *Boy Scouts* had a virtual monopoly on America's expeditionary children whereas her distaff nonadolescents got to choose between the *Girl Scouts* , *Girl Guides* , and *Camp Fire* .
But then the Girl Scouts and Girl Guides merged into a single (and rather decadent and immoral) organization. And any hopes of building up Camp Fire into a more traditionalist club got quickly extinguished when they started accepting boys also!
Flash forward to an era when men give birth and women pee standing up, and I can only say: This will not end well.

Being an Eagle scout and someone whose life would be different if I hadn't done scouts as a kid, I've always hated the whole thing of letting girls into the Boy Scouts. There was already venturing scouts for co-ed adventures ages 14-21. People who are for girls in BSA always say, "Well the Girl Scouts suck and we wanna do boy-ish things." Then reform the Girl Scouts. Don't ruin a place where guys can be guys among guys. Women need their own spaces and so do men.
As someone with no real personal experience of the scouts, I was under the impression the justification of allowing girls into the Boy Scouts was that Boy Scout merit badges etc etc were more prestigious, so it was unfair to have 50% of kids unable to go for that stuff. Just allowing girls to join feels like a much faster solution to that problem than reforming the Girl Scouts to have honors that will be recognized as a equivalent. To me, this feels like an imperfect solution to an inequity that was built into the the Boy/Girl Scout system long ago.
Its refreshing to see that someone else feels the same way that I do on this subject. I was also molded by my time in scouting and bonding with boys my age. Now I fear for my son who will soon be old enough for cub scouts. I fear because already in my area there has been a girl who levied an accusation against a boy at camp. I don't need to expose my son to risks like that, regardless of how I loved my time in scouts. I mean...come on...anyone can see that taking mixed gender teens and putting them in the woods together will at some point lead to trouble.

We have an all-girl BSA troop here, it's been fantastic for both the girls and the community. Just because another "scout" organization exists doesn't mean that it's any good, and much of what BSA does isn't just "boy stuff"-- instilling moral values, learning valuable life skills, doing productive community projects, etc. There's no reason to oppose at least gender-specific troops (so guys can still be guys among guys). Why should the girls be forced into an organization that sells overpriced cookies instead?

It really mean, in many circles that they wanted to defund the overmilitarization of the police and reform how funding is used in polcing. By providing more training for mental health awareness, and sending out social workers on a lot of these calls.. isntead of just dumping old Military equipment onto police forces and training them to shoot first and ask questions later... Whoever came up with "defund the police" didn't think that all the way through and I know that yes, some police depts may have literally been defunded... but I think that we do need to rationally redo how policing is done in communities.. Legalize weed, more funding for substance abuse treatment, more mental health training and more funding for mental health including beds..... on and on.. instead of "here, is all your swat team equipment.. now go and deal with that mentally ill black man who has substance abuse issues and shoot them in their car.... cause they are "Bad" and "dangerous'..
