You should put annotations in the videos or at least put in the description what material you used, because people need to know, was the wire large fuse wire, was it solder wire, was it normal wire from a plug lead..... you get the idea

Overall this is the best design I have seen. The battery can easily be disconnected for a new battery and the screws and not touching the battery to the point where they would be taking some of the electricity

Dr. Screw, could this be hacked into a 9v induction heating coil? I so far have found 5v ones but all are AC converted to DC, so there is all the circuitry for that, plus you have a plug that's cumbersome for the application and a tether that's not wanted. I figure if anything perhaps a resistive current limiter to prevent battery overheating and optimize battery life.
Any assistance or thoughts you may offer are appreciated. Thanks

Dussy4LyfRespawn dude, positive and negative wires aren't different. only the color if you choose to sort the colors. that's only to identify that you know which wire is connected to which pole

Because it's fake, I also have tried, but the 9v battery does not have the Ah necessary to make the nichrome.wire glow, you need more Ah, dont look at the voltage

So, I want to make one wich can only go to around 200 °c, and I think that thing is a whole lot hotter. Now, I can imagine you should make the voltage lower for that... But how do you do that?

I have done everything in the video, but I am using 30 gauge kanthal wire. What you use seems to be thicker. My wire will heat up enough to burn my finger, but not enough to set a fire or even glow orange. @DrScrew, what can I try to fix this issue?

In many case it is not working.. I have used Nicrome wire 32 AWG with newly 9v battery..first it got heated slightly than stopped heating.. Than how u got continuously red hot wire.???? Explain this..

So u use same kinda wire u use to spoil with for hot wire ??! soory cant find where to buy the hot wire part :/ i was searching with any wire for an guess i dont think i get anywhere i tough may i use pen spring cause ive used 5 v battery from phone and spring from pen once i havent got lighter sems was the first and the last one good for hot wire i ever find

do you absolutely need nichrome wire? I mean a cigarette lights up at like 480 or about there degrees celsius. If you just have enough heat transfer,steel should do fine right? Maybe it then needs more batteries though.
Which gauge of nichrome wire do you use? 26 gauge is too thick and doesn't heat up enough, and 32 gauge vaporizes the second I touch it to a battery. Is 28 gauge right? Or is there another one?
