1- use lukewarm water in the showtime
2- use moisturiser right after the shower
3- don’t use drying soap bars
4- use chemical exfoliants (like lactic acid, retenoids, salicylic acid)
5- moisturise with urea and glycerin
Can you list the Brands to get? Like scrubber, What soap, and what lotion😢
@@a.x.x8184 : NOPE!! They never can.
@@a.x.x8184 CeraVe, goldbond, Eucerin are good lotions (look for the ones with urea or for bumpy skin)
For exfoliation, I’d just go to Sephora a beauty store and ask for Lactic or glycolic acid products for the body, I’d say the applies same for retinoids
@@a.x.x8184in this video she literally showed you what products to try. Try them one at a time to see what works for you
If Ross is in your area you can get any of these at a lower price.
I know hot water is bad, but I get lost in the sauce 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Me too
Say it again for those in the back! 😆
It just feels so good 😭
KP genetic and due to chronic dry skin and impaired exfoliation
Avoid hot showers
Moisturize onto damp skin with urea and glycerin
Moisturizing washing soap
Exfoliate - chemical: lactic acid, retinoids, salicylic acid. 2-4 x per week. E.g Naturium glycolic wash.
Thank you 😊
Thank you😊
For the record, I skipped past all the other videos and stopped here because you look like me! Thank you! ❤️
I really appreciate you making a video about this. I like that you listed a lot of options on products to buy to help those who have KP. Thank you for this.❤
Thanks so much for the retinoid-free option! I was like “aw man I’m out of luck 😔” but you got us covered! Making a Target run today!

I’ve had this ALL OF MY LIFE! It’s my biggest insecurity. God Bless You! 😭🤗
She's so lovely. Informative, and I can focus. But she speaks so kindly that, if I've already watched the video, I'll rewatch it when I'm trying to sleep ☺️
Every time I watch one of your videos I feel so informed! You don't just tell me what to do, but why I should do it and what causes the problem in the first place. I love your well organized explanations and am a staunch follower of your page; Thank you!

I got the cerave brand and started using it just this week and I already feel the hard skin on my one elbow is feeling smoother. I know the bumpiness will take longer but amazing how my elbow now feels smooth.
Thanks for the video! I’ve been able to slightly manage the kp on my arms and legs, but it’s a little harder to treat it on my back. Will definitely look into the products in this video 🌟🌟🌟
Dr Stephens, its good to see you back 😊
I never knew why my right arm was so bumpy. I just thought it was part of my birthmark. It has never bothered me, but I am glad to have come across this information.
I’ve been waiting for this video for so lonnnnngggggg 😩😩😩😩. You definitely delivered! ❤️
Thank you so much for making a video about this! Something I've always wondered, if we apply an exfoliating lotion for example the amlactin kp or cerave sa cream one, should we apply a moisturizer on top? Or just the exfoliating lotion/cream? Thank you!
Great info. You look GORGEOUS!
IVE BEEN TRYING TO GET RID OF THIS FOR YEARS THANK YOU 😍😍🥹
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching🤗
@@DrAlexisStephens I thought glycolic can’t be used on meleanin skin . So I’ve heard is it ok to use , because I would like to use it .

I love glycolic acid for KP. I used it for years 2x a week and had smooth arms. I stopped using it recently and my arms feel like gator skin. I just started back using it again, lol.
Which one do you use?
@@prissylittlemissy_ Alpha Skincare 10% lotion. They also make a larger size at 12% for the same price.
YES!!! Exactly what I do. I use a professional strength at 30% with a P.H of 2.5 straight glycolic acid. The best drug store product that I recommend for my skincare clients is Gold Bond Rough and Bumpy it's been around for quite some time and give wonderful results
@@skinbrow-waxqueen 👀👀👀 where you find that professional strength? Lol I live in this dry azz desert and my skin is uugghhhh😢😢😢
Gator skin....my problem is fine lines on my face and always looking tired...
Thank you Dr.Alexis…you are amazing 🌟
Thank you for your video! I have been suffering with KP my whole life and it got worse with puberty and seemingly better with sunshine exposure. I live in NY state so in the winter the dry, cold air and covering up made it waaayyyy worse! I will definitely try a lower water temperature with exfoliatiants with lactic acid and moisturizers with urea & glycerine afterwards!!!! I never thought about moisturizing because i always thought it was some type of weird acne and i was using the wrong products. Again thank you so much!!
Moisturizing is key
I want to say thank you for this. Incorporating these tips, I have noticed a difference in the feel of my KP areas, which is on the backs of my thighs for some reason. Rest of my legs are ok, but I am bothered by the visibility of the hair follicles. I wasn't able to complete my laser treatments due to scarring from an accident. But I don't shower in hot water, I use both salicylic (Neutrogena) and lactic acid products, I do moisturize while the skin is damp (I use coconut oil). Texture feels great. I appreciate you.
Thank you Doc. I will be implementing these into my body care routine.
You're so helpful! Thank you for these videos!
Great tips on skin care , thank you Sis, Blessings 🙏🏼
Thanks for mentioning the water in the shower and the moisturizer. I never had dry skin until I got thyroid cancer.

You look so beautiful and radiant!!!💖💖💖
Perfect timing, I was diagnosed with this 2 months ago. I thought it was acne
I love it knowledge is power!
Good video! Exfoliation is actually really important. Can you do a video on vitiligo? I have this condition as a brown skin woman but feel people still know so little about this condition.
It's an autoimmune disease and there is a correlation with vitamin deficiencies. Mine developed from being vegan long term. Once I stopped being vegan no more spots appeared and the spots are repigmenting. The derm has me on 2 creams and I am a part of a research trial with a eczema cream that helps some patients with repigmentation. Mine is my bikini line which is a small area thankfully. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask me any questions.
@@jdbailey442 I have had mine most of my life since 10 and it is usually stressed induced at it’s worst. Since mine returned about 4 years ago, I have been using red clay mask. Red clay has been known to help with repigmentation; it has almost helped about 80%. I am in the 1% of the 1% to have asymmetrical vitiligo and it is only on one side of my face. But I think the majority of people know nothing of this Illness and more needs to be done to learn about it. They now sell dolls with different skin conditions to promote awareness but not enough.
I love your advice beautiful!!!!
Thank you for the tips😊...Gotta work on my consistency.
I want my skin to be smooth and glowing like yours 🙌🏽💗😍

Great video! Thank you for giving tips without much fluff and blab haha. Now the question is: I noticed my almost 4 year old has some bumps on the back of his arms, we tried gluten free diet and didn't improve and so I thought it's KP. Will lactic acid 10% moisturizer once a week be good enough?

Did the cetaphil lotion burn? I have a bottle waiting to be cracked open but I’m scared it’s going to burn on my eczematic broken skin

superdrug deep cleansing soap has helped my kp on legs and back spots i leave it on 10 min before and only 4 pound and usually buy one get one free, it has sa in it, also palmers renewing lotion has helped, also i used dove pro age which has b3 to help discoloured skin etc, soap and glory has a aha lotion too, also use exfoliating gloves not body scrubs, hope this helps, also make a body wash with chick peaflour and turmeric and yogurt and leave to dry and wash off or just wash with chick pea flour

Hello, Dr. Stephens. My former dermatologist from curology said I have hormonal acne and dark marks on my face. I was recommended to use a Vitamin C Serum, A gentle cleanser perhaps with niacinamide, AHA (exfoliant) & chemical sunscreen. Also, the last I used physical sunscreen it burned my face. Could you recommend some products?
I considering buying:
* CerVae Forming Cleanser
* Naturium Vitamin C Complex Serum
* La Roche-Posay Double Repair Moisturizer
I’m unsure about what sunscreen or exfoliant to get.
My son has this from when he was a teenager he uses cerave syacylic acid.It has created hyperpigmentation. He has it only on the top of his arms.

Hi Dr, could you please talk about the cosmelan peel? Thank you.
Hi Dr. Stephens,
Thank you so much for all your great advice! I am struggling with this condition and have been exfoliating and using Cerave rough and bumpy cream for about 3 weeks now. How long do you think it will be before I see results?
Hey Kendra! I also used cerave rough and bumpy lotion paired with the body wash and my skin cleared up within a few months. I would wait a few more weeks to see some results and highly recommend using the rough and bumpy body wash as well! Hope that helps!
@@anabishop6700 Thank you so much. I’ll be patient. 😊
It’s there any results !?!
Hi Dr. Stephens my KP bumps are under control and my legs are smooth BUT it's the million tiny dark dots of hyperpigmentation at every hair follicle on my legs that really bothers me. The hyperpigmentation make it look like I never shaved so I haven't shaved in over a year because I feel like it's no point. If I invest in laser hair removal will it stop keratin from growing in the follicles and if so then will the hyperpigmentation go away? I spend so much money and countless hours trying to get rid of the dark dots on my legs. I refuse to wear shorts skirts or swimsuits etc. I have tried every lotion and acid that is known to help KP and hyperpigmentation including prescription tretinoin, sulphur, soy and dandruff shampoo but none of those things exclusively target the tiny dots of hyperpigmentation and it may brighten my whole leg but the follicles is still darker then the rest of my leg and the color difference is very noticeable on my skin tone. If laser hair removal will not solve the problem is there a laser for tiny dots of hyperpigmentation thats safe for dark skin that can be used on a large areas such as the legs? Or is electrolysis the only realistic option to get rid of KP bumps since it gets rid of the hair follicle and is it safe for dark skin?? Thank you for your time and your time
Alexis please reply to this! I have the same issue and I haven’t ever shaved.
i know this isin't treating the problem, but have you thought of self tanning? It helps the skin tone look more even and glowy. It might hide the hyperpigmentation. Tanner on dark skin is so underrated imo
Wish I could turn on notifications for this
@@sofiah8862 I do notice that when I tan under the sun, it's less visible...perhaps it's a skin issue related to the sun?
