Best AVID Tutorials CZcams Channel!!
Thanks! 🙏
Hi Jack! Great videos :-) one request ...any chance making your Picture n Picture smaller, it actually gets in the way when you're doing your tutorials, please. Thank you
Noted! I'll have a think on that! I do try to move and slide it if it's covering something I'm currently talking about but will bare this in mind for future videos.
Thank you!!!
You're welcome! 😉
Best Avid tutorials CZcams. I send all upcoming assistants here to learn more. Thank you. Question about the newer Script Sync AI... Have you used it on a Mac successfully? It appears to be painfully slow and borderline unusable on a Mac Studio M1. Curious is you have any experience with it. Thank you.
I have used it on my Mac with mixed results. Had a lot of crashes and slow performance. Doing some testing tomorrow on the theory that moving where the indexing is stored fixes the problem. Will report back when I know more on that one!
Thanks so much for the reply.
I use finished shows to make promos from. I would not only like text export but the source timecode in the script bin as well. they need to add this.. Still using Premiere for this.
Great tutorial, Jack! But it stopped just short of a very important step -- when you find the take with the best line, can you pop it directly from the Script View into the sequence? Maybe you show that in another video elsewhere. Thanks very much.
Hi, not sure if that's possible. Don't think so though. I've never tried as I always load into source monitor before cutting in. Will check tomorrow but don't think that would be possible I'm afraid
@@theavidassistantSo the typical method at this stage is to load the good take into the Source side and cut as usual, right? That was really my question. Thank you -- I can't wait to finally try this feature!
@arvvee1832 yeah. Simply double clicking on any of the lines or script marks will load the clip into the source monitor at that line of the script mark :)
@@theavidassistant If you click Cmd+Alt, you can actually cut it directly in a timeline. Very useful if you're asked to make a stringout of all the takes of a specific line per example. You can also play all the takes of one line in a row by lassoing them on the script and hitting play.
@hadnic Good one! Thanks Hadnic!!! 🙏
Just a quick question kind of off the subject, did you hear that AVID Technology is up for sale? I don't know about you, but I'm not sure what it means, but I m a little worried about it. I do love AVID media composer.
I did indeed! it's all over the Facebook pages. As long as Adobe / Blackmagic don't buy them I think we will be fine. Avid is quite integral to the film and TV industry to if a group with plenty of cash came a long it could be great for Avid potentially.
Just need to wait and see what happens I suppose!! Fingers crossed no one messes with it.
It's difficult to imagine companies investing one billion of dollar just to destroy another company. It would make more sense for another company to purchase it in order to expand their market share. However, it's unclear which company would be interested in doing so. And by the way love the channel keep up the good work.
Well if BM or Adobe spent the money to kill them off then they would be the only default options. Plus they could incorporate avid features into Resolve or Premiere. Companies like Apple do it all the time.
It's anybody's guess what will happen though. They might not even sell. Just need to wait and see. Just hope avid stays avid or I'll need to learn something else! 😂
Thanks for the compliment on the channel. Always good to hear people are getting something out of it :)
Hey man, is there an option to create a transcript of the audio in avid?
Unfortunately no. I remember when Premiere added this feature and I thought it was weird that avid didn't get there first since it is already scanning all audio and creating a database of all spoken dialogue. Like the foundation is there but they just never added that export option.
I'll admit I've reached out to request this feature several times but no luck yet.
@@theavidassistant Ok. Yeah, in premiere it's very useful when working with unscripted projects, it's so easy to find specific bits with the search bar and now there's a new feature coming where you can use the text to cut the video, I haven't used it but it sounds great.
Yeah I wouldn't count on anything like that coming to Avid any time soon 😂
@@theavidassistant 😅
Yes they just came out with this feature in 2023.08.
19:51 gee if only the indent was imported so the description portions of the script wouldn't be scanned 🤔
Ah of course! Forgotten a lot of the intricacies of ScriptSync as it's only been used on two jobs I've been on and the last one was four years ago. Vast majority of my gigs haven't bothered with it.
@@theavidassistant I'd like to do a ScriptSync video on how to deal with back-to-ones footage (multiple sub-takes within one take) but I've yet to come across any examples of such footage online for public use.
Done! czcams.com/video/4ObGEIj55G4/video.html
