I would love for Batch Create Subclips to make many subclips from one master clip that has markers added to it (i.e. each subclip would be for what's between each marker). I've had some camera footage come back as one long clip with markers indicating camera start/stops, and automating this process would be extremely helpful!

Scriptsync was already 20years ahead of everything. This release more looks as if pressure came from both competitors so match order of operation although I m pretty sure underlying technology is still more or less same ( nexidia already lived in the future). But adding suffix AI just ensure that avid has rights to this technology for some future years. A relief. And back to classic interface just ensure that avid pretty much has to cater to Hollywood. Still if my clients asks me to edit a "movie", movies makes me nervous that I can't rely on anything but avid. I always say okay if it's a music video , any tvc or anything I always welcome them with their choice of nle , I can work on them too. But if they mention "feature length movie" I always say if it's my responsibility then avid otherwise any nle you yourself are responsible. I had tried many others but had to return to avid.
Nice changes. I like that upgrade to the Mixer. No more cheating by raising it on 2 mixer tabs AND throwing on a Gain effect.
And no more cheating by doubling, tripling or quadrupling up on a duplicated and stacked audio clip. Which I don’t mind TBH because it’s a FAST way to “bump up the gain” in a pinch. I’m sure it’s not an audio mixer’s favorite way to get a sequence though. BTW, hi @EJBarrois!!!
Love the 'create script from clip' feature. Is there a way to see the timecode in the scripts?
Hello. Can you do that the transcription makes automatically some subtitle with subcap ?
I failed to auto select clips from the script, to make precuts. I only succeed in automatic in-points, not in and outs. You talk about 'a modifier' to select snippets. What combination is needed for doing the text based precut that is shown?
2 things: 1. Phrase find AI needs to be free. Two of your competitors give it for free. 2. still nothing for the colorists and finishers. You're pushing that segment of the industry toward your competition, and soon enough, the offline operation will follow as well.
Yea I just don't understand why they won't think beyond offline editing. They refuse to evolve.

@@benmcc7729 i think they are slowly moving in one avid but it may be a few yrs before they really make an impact. With avid being bought by a private corporation who knows what is going to happen with media composer. Adobe is still in the mix as well.
Do you mean that you think PhraseFind AI should be "free" in Media Composer First (for people just starting out), and not limited to the paid version of MC? Maybe you have a fair point but it also would not be useful in a real-world production since bins and projects aren't transferable between First and Ultimate. Also, who are these "two competitors?" Last time I checked there is a free Resolve version but it has limitations, and Premiere only has a paid model AFAIK.
Actually they had an online finishing system named avid DS which was a competitor to autodesk smoke in those days, and in some ways was even better than smoke. And they had bulletproof transfer between offline in MC to online DS. But unfortunately it lost ground when flame became less costly and resolve and nuke also joined the market for finishing along with quantel , DS was killed. But in legacy code of newest version of MC still thinks that creative editing decisions from MC will go to DS. for finish. Fortunately AAF from MC perfectly translates to Resolve . I have conformed 2+ hours of timelines from MC to Resolve with 99.9 percent accuracy in less than 10 minutes except speed ramping, provided rushes were created and logged properly. So changing otherwise perfectly working code in MC to make it an online finishing system would be tall order and even may break the system. Industry respects avid MC as Hollywood movie editing system and resolve , flame, baselight, nuke studio all work perfectly with AAFs from avid MC, and then there is protools for audio work. So I don't see a need to make it something like premiere which is neither perfect offline nor online system. Majority studies will use avid with resolve as sidekick, but a solid solid sidekick. Similar to what luca brasi was to vito coreleone. Avid is brain and resolve is muscle. Try resolve and you will appreciate sir.

Avid is probably the worst software I have ever used. It’s years behind it’s competitors and when I was in uni we were expected to use it because it’s “industry standard” fair to say I dropped out because what I can do in Davinci and adobe is 100% better than what I could achieve in this out dated editor
I would paid good money to see these guys use their software.

What they're not telling you is that the updated script sync takes WAY longer to do. Previously, a 45 min interview would script sync for me in about 30 seconds... I just ran the same interview through the new Script Sync AI and it took 16 minutes to do. I get that there's added features now, but I wish there was a way to keep the old script sync for those who don't need those new features... time is often really important for us when editing - and if a 45 in interview takes 16 min then imagine how long a 3 hour interview will take?
Only in a few specific situations, but not all. Many users are reporting it as faster for them. We're troubleshooting the users that are reporting it slower in certain situations. Guys, is it good enough nowadays? Last time I was working with AMC was in 2009 in v 2.7. Today I'm working with DaVinci Resolve.

QT reference files are sorely missed. Have to revert to exporting again which frankly feels like the slow 90’s workflows of the other softwares all over again.

@@SnehithPamarathi Hindi is supported and I have used old scriptsync with some success on similar languages Marathi, Punjabi, not perfect but workable. May be AI can do better. But if there are more and more Telugu avid users demand may be they can add in the future. But it will depend upon how many users buy that.
Crazy avid is still around and being used. Just a buggy software with terrible audio syncing.

Hi. I have a question. Please don't take it as negative review, am a young person with less Editing experience. I tired Media Composer many times in hope that I will get used to it. And let me be honest, I failed, over and over again no matter how much I force myself to learn it. I generally want to know why Media Composer is not user friendly? Why it feels like am using a really outdated NLE?
Well, I asked myself if it is really bad why Big films are edited on that? That means am wrong here. There must be more than just outdated UI or hard to lean thing. There must be a reason why Media Composer is still used.
Is it because of business contracts? Is it because old Editors are used to it? Is it because it's stable and handles big project? is it script-sync? Or is it just a phychological effect on humans to use something different?
I probably sound stupid here, but I really want to know.

Hi Karam. As an editor to really understand why avid is brilliant you have to understand the post production workflow in a professional environment . I see a lot of cheaper nle software that is not designed around a post workflow but for just starting and finishing an edit within that software. In professional workplace you are constantly going between edit, sound, grade, vfx, composer etc and avid is designed around that. So if you understand workflow youll know why avid is so good. Hope that helps
It’s an 80s/90s software. Old boomers. Sadly I learned avid at an early age (12) and still currently use it. It’s very slow with playback even with a top GPU. I make king form docuseries (40TB) of storage. I do a lot of ama linking on m.2 drives and avid is just extremely slow playback speed and audio syncing is a 50% chance. Resolve plays even 12 bit raw files smooth. Avid can’t even playback 422 1080 without serious stutter
@@Brett.Hatfield that doesn't sound like a very good workflow even if you are editing, doing the sound and finishing within your own software. Wouldn't blame avid for that.

It's not clear in the video, but support have just informed me that the previews of Scriptsync AI and Phrasefind AI are only available in the Ultimate version. A bit disappointing, I was excited to give these these features a whirl. If Avid sold cars you would have to pay extra for the steering wheel.

The PhraseFind AI and ScriptSync AI will also work on the regular version of Media Composer if you previously own an add-on license of them. Installing the latest version of Media Composer (2023.8) will enable the AI feature of both ScriptSync and PhraseFind.

Excuse me, but can anybody explain me what is so special about this software that makes it so expensive? Davinci just added transcription and premiere had it for years.
Built for high volume shared media environment. The others are one off single software builds who are trying to follow what scriptsync does.
Avid is still industry standard but it is also years behind the competition
@@danyeoldavisAvid invented the competition right? They all take AVID and make their version. Adobe Davinci FCP all use AVID like tools. JKL trim is AVID. Multicam is AVID. Integration between audio (protools) is AVID. All of them follow the king, not the other way around
