I'm almost 42, got to experience the awesomeness of the 90's and early 2000's at just the right age. This song now makes me sad. The life I could have had. I miss the past so much.
I just turned 42 this past March, hearing this just makes me wish I was 21 yrs old again or even younger. I miss it so much too, living with all the regrets we made back then and wishing we can change things from the passed always gets me.
Amen brother.
@@hcaballero57 I always say the best part of my life was 1980-2000, hands down. I will never have as many great memories or enjoy life as much as I did back than.
I’m 38 and grew up in 90’s early 00’s…the past was great at times! Wish I could go back all the time!! And this song… Oh my God… The memories!
Yes brother ✌🏼
2024 anyone?

Hi
Yesssir
Heard this on the radio a few days ago. Kind of brought tears to my eyes. I wish the world was still like this. I miss my youth. Back when everybody was still happy. I’m feeling old now.
Are you really that blinded by nostalgia that you think "everybody" in the world was happy? 2001 was when the Twin Towers were destroyed and over 3k people died. Quit acting like everything was hunky dory just because a song makes you teary eyed.
@@kommisar. god damn 🤣
@@kommisar. E M O T I O N A L D A M A G E
@@kommisar. I still remember before the Jan 6th terrorist attack when 9/11 was the worst terrorist attack in US history. FYI, there were just under 3K people who died. You should get your facts straight.
@@jessesissom Multiple sources I've read cited the casualties in the range of around 2,700-2,900 -- so, yeah, I rounded up by at most a little under 300. Now while I'm sure 300 lives IS a huge, major deal, for discussion's sake it's not. Keep in mind that figure doesn't include the aftermath deaths resulting from things like inhaling the toxins from the wreckage.
If you actually think January 9th was worse than September 11th, then you deserve Darwin Award. Two people die during the Capitol Riot -- fucking two. One was shot by police and the other died by natural causes. The financial damage was not even comparable either. A few broken windows and furniture compared to two completely destroyed buildings and planes....
Lost my best friend to an auto immune disease at the age of 45. He was a simple man that loved his children, family, fishing, sports and music. Never seen him argue with anyone. When he passed away this song kept coming up in my head. If I could be like that.. be the high quality man my friend David was. Miss you buddy
Hope you’re doing OK… I understand. It’s hard to lose someone you love ❤️
Still listening in April 2024. Awesome band and miss this kind of music not the crap music bands come up with now. 1990s and early 200s great era in music.
I think it's arguably the best Era 😊
Agreed
God I miss music like that. In my twenties in late 90’s early 2000’s. Best decade ever. It ain’t the same no more.
I would go back to that decade in a heartbeat!!!
100% agree. I loved that decade. Still love this band. I always will.
I grow up in that decade 💪🦾💯
It’s like that. Every life. Twenties are the best years of your life. You spend the rest of your life chasing those times, those years again, while your ticket to ride winds down. For me…..1970’s…..my twenties. The music was great, etc…..we all have those same memories, just the years have different numbers. I would give _anything_ to live it again. Wouldn’t we all. Maybe the pendulum of time will swing back again one millennium, and I’ll be writing this same comment again. How great would that be for us all! Enjoy your life my friend, you have a lot left to live :)
Me too i am 38 years old now my mom died back in 2020 brings me back to my High school days how i miss those times
I can only think of "American Pie 2" when I hear this song. I wonder if they used the woods background in the video because of that.
Three doors down has a big part of my childhood memories!! This song never gets old!! I'm 30 now and this song just gets better everytime I repeat it
Childhood? OMG! You just made me feel OLD!! 😳😫😂😂😂 I heard them just after college.
Am 32 I used to listen to this song when I was in jr high and high school
30? And a big part of your life? Plenty more to come for you.
I agree!
I know what you mean. I’m about to turn 30. Got me thinking too much
"Jim?!"
"How's this for a band camp story?"
Hahaha
Been rewatching the American pie series lately, that line really got me
This comment almost made me cry 😂
One time at the band camp
A peccardo!🤣
I would give anything just to be back in the 90's damn
I know man fuck this new era. Corruption of the mind isnt even hidden these days. Back then people could experience people more. Now our emotions and how we feel are kept from eachother. On the bright side I still think people would revert right back to the 90s if we could only have more control. Just know we're out here.
This song is from the 2000's tho
2001
Thinkin the same thing right now lol

American Pie 2 was my favourite film out of the whole entire franchise.
I had this song in my head today (2024). I had no reason why. I JUST watched American Pie 2 yesterday!! Thank you for helping answers the *real* questions.

Yesssssss!!!
I love this song. I spent my whole life doing and being what others told me to and never once got to live my dreams. Now I am 51 and my parents are gone. My kids don't speak to me and while everyone else is living their dreams or have lived them, I am just now starting to. I can thank my wonderful husband for encouraging me and helping me. Got my first tat at 46! Lol. A grizzly! Just a start.
I want tattoos BECAUSE of them getting faded and worn and wrinkled when I am old. I want a hot busty Valkyrie on my right forearm and a busty goth chick with bat wings (or the Norse goddess Hel) on the right. After that I don't know what else, maybe a hot clown/jester/mime girl, but having too many tattoos of sexy women might reveal me for the creep I am.....
You're inspiring! Well done..
Daniel Gandara Yeah, three golden words. Fuck shit up.

Man life is really fucked up. I just got a 2nd written warning at my job about my performance. The thing is, they are right to some extent, (I vacuum floors) this week I mostly just moved from hide spot to hide spot (places where I'll someone approaching before they see me, and where people almost never come by anyway) and just get on my phone. Not because i am attached to my phone, or even a lazy worker I just don't see the point.
I don't get paid a living wage, and when I do work as best as I can, it's not enough for management. So I have weeks where I work really hard, no one notices and I get complaints about places I missed. Then I have works where I just mope around work fighting the urge to just up and quit, and I get complaints about places I missed
Good or bad, I am still making a slave wage, good or bad I am still getting negative remarks on my work.
Fooly's Mind Like it or not, you are a bad employee and a lazy worker. If you are sitting on your phone for (who knows how many hours) at a time, and you don't do your job, you are being a lazy freeloader.
This takes me back about 17 years... If only I knew then what I know now.
Edit: 23 years now. Life is short. Music is the only true form of time travel it’s the closest you’ll ever get to going back…so live your best life now.
Trumpsdaman I know right the best music is from back in the day so many memories and a different time

I know I posted this a few weeks back, but this song is just forgotten by so many. I have to thank 'American Pie2' for bringing such an awesome song to my attention all those years ago.
The soundtrack to the film is pure class, and having just listened to it, again. (In its full glory). Just releases happy memories from simpler days, with me and my friends.
'If I could be like that,
I would give anything,
Just to live one day,
In those shoes.'
Carl Stanley hah i never even paid attention to this song on american pie, i just knew it from listening to them so much. they're an awesome band this song reminds me of myself and how i'd like to be something better, how i feel like i deserve to be something more.
Hope you're ok man
"How's this for a band camp story?"
He spends his nights in California
Watching the stars on the big screen
Then he lies awake and he wonders
"Why can't that be me?"
'Cause in his life he's filled with all these good intentions
He's left a lot of things he'd rather not mention right now
But just before he says goodnight
He looks up with a little smile at me and he says
If I could be like that
I would give anything
Just to live one day, in those shoes
If I could be like that
What would I do?
What would I do?
Yeah
Now and dreams we run
She spends her days up in the north park
Watching the people as they pass
And all she wants is just a little piece of this dream
Is that too much to ask?
With a safe home, and a warm bed
On a quiet little street
All she wants is just that something to hold onto
That's all she needs
Yeah
If I could be like that
I would give anything
Just to live one day, in those shoes
If I could be like that
What would I do?
What would I do?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh, yeah
I'm falling into the same dreams
We run away
If I could be like that
I would give anything
Just to live one day, in those shoes
If I could be like that
What would I do?
What would I do?
If I could be like that
I would give anything
Just to live one day, in those shoes
If I could be like that
What would I do?
What would I do?
If I could be like that
I would give anything
Just to live one day, in those shoes
If I could be like that
What would I do?
Oh, what would I do?
Yeah
Falling in
I feel I'm falling in, to this again
Wrong lyrics for the video...otherwise nice job.
Covid really changed everything....and I don’t see things getting any better. So sad, the memories of actually meeting people without a mask is something I cherish and hope to see things calm down and get back to normal. Hey one can wish, right? 😞
There has always been diseases. Some even more contagious and dangerous than coronavirus. It was the people who brought all this tyranny upon us. By blindly believing the media and not doing any research for themselves. Just letting fear control them. 90s people would’ve never let this happen. People were more independent back then when it comes to figuring things out. There was more critical thought back then.
i lost all my friends not for covid but for stupidity
it wont return to normal cause people are idiots and comply with tyranny.

The nostalgia!!!!!! I was born in 87. Growing up in the 90s will always go down unmatched!!!!! Todays youth sadly will never get to experience what we had. Even older people who were fully grown in the 90s and early 2000s. American Pie was my junior high years but very much was my upbringing going through high school. Yes this song reminds me of Jim and Michelle and that scene. But this song makes me want to cry because all the memories of my years as a teenager. Being at a school dance with this song on and being nervous to ask a girl to dance. Before social media and cell phones existed and you had to actually walk out and talk to someone. Todays youth has been ruined by "social media". This song just reminds me of simplier times when we had it so good as teenagers!!! I would never trade those memories ever!!!!! Songs like this that are so good that it still exists today!!! Music that had meaning. Thank you 3DD for this amazing song. Feels good to go down memory lane and relive in my head all the meories and feelings i had as a teen. Anyone else have a story behind this song. Im curious. Wheres my 90s people at?

Zack Prince i agree
Great music gets produced everyday. Stop being nostalgic, because that's exactly what you're being. I'm positive you've got plenty of current music in your phone that you listen to.
To me, I think this song speaks about chasing Your dreams and can't succeed, and You look at your Idols as well as Yourself and You just don't understand why You can't be like them.....
For Me, personally, I listen to this when I feel like I shouldn't have been born, and sometimes look into the mirror and think... Why am I even still here? And just self-loathe!
Doesn't matter where You are from, guys, you have a dream, conquer it!
God, do I miss this era? Yes I do, and I intent to keep these good times alive!
Read Isaiah Chapter 49 Verse 15.
I so can relate to that.
First heard this in American Pie 2. Awesome song! Awesome band!
The best years. Late 90’s and early 00’s. The American Pie era, hot summers, BTVS and Friends on the TV, PlayStation 1 and N64 plugged in. In the good old days without even knowing it. Carefree living and the best times of our lives. Get so nostalgic with it all and wanna live that period of our lives over and over.

If I could be like that
I would give anything
Just to live one day, in those shoes
If I could be like that
What would I do?
What would I do?
If I could be like that
I would give anything
Just to live one day, in those shoes
If I could be like that
What would I do?
Lord, what would I do?
Yeah, yeah
Falling in
I feel I'm falling into this again

A Hug from Brazil 🇧🇷
I always wanted to be like my father but I turned out to be a troubled man with substance abuse problems and severe depression. Even though he passed away I just hope he still proud of me 😢
I’m 28, everyday feels the same and I haven’t really achieved anything, even so I’m grateful for the life I’ve lived. It hasn’t been easy, and I work everyday just to stay afloat but that’s alright.
Humans are beautiful creatures and I’m just so thankful to be able to experience how expressive and creative we can be.
I feel you man
Nostalgia total . Uma das bandas favoritas da minha adolescência. Hj com 28 anos ainda amo mto !!!!
Eu aqui com meus 36 também sigo nessa nostalgia ❤
This song always gives me that freaking American Pie vibes. So nostalgic! Gotta rewatch it again.
Janeiro de 2021 e eu aqui relembrando a adolescência ❤️❤️ época mágica! Trilha sonora de Malhação 2001

Sensacional 🥰
I'm an 80s kid. To me, that's the best decade ever for music. However, in every decade, there's music that transcends time. These guys have created su h music - and not just one song.
American pie 2. The last time when GenX and Millennials had a great time together.
