The man you knew before the war dies when deployed even when he returns. The man that returned is a changed man, a scarred man who suffered or has seen horrors you've only heard of. Respect soldiers, they experience things we don't and do it for our safety.
I agree with this sentiment. As a person who has known a old vet who went threw something similar, it haunts you till you die. He was ordered to det a ammo stock, the ammo stock was connected to two rooms sadly and at the back was where they tried to hide a woman and child in a flipped and hollowed water heater. They cleared the building and command ordered them to relocate and blow up the ammo depot on the way out. they didn't see the hollowed out water heater in the corner as a possible hiding spot to check. line up timed charges and started walking. the child started crying and the woman came rushing out only to run into the corner opposite. they tried to say things quickly but the timer was too short. They ran and had to leave her. The building went up as the ammo was basically running between the supports. Command structure was informed but they just had them continue the mission. It haunted him till he passed just recently of cancer. War is a hell that's not going away and is often glorified to try to keep soldiers spirits higher. But as war gets further along, people hate it more, and the people blame the soldiers, not the ones creating such wars. This video hits home to remind me of a friend who lost it all by the time he came back. Respect to those who serve, and may the souls of those who didn't deserve it rest well in the god of the religious belief they stick too.

I agree with this sentiment. As a person who has known a old vet who went threw something similar, it haunts you till you die.
He was ordered to det a ammo stock, the ammo stock was connected to two rooms sadly and at the back was where they tried to hide a woman and child in a flipped and hollowed water heater. They cleared the building and command ordered them to relocate and blow up the ammo depot on the way out. they didn't see the hollowed out water heater in the corner as a possible hiding spot to check. line up timed charges and started walking. the child started crying and the woman came rushing out only to run into the corner opposite. they tried to say things quickly but the timer was too short. They ran and had to leave her. The building went up as the ammo was basically running between the supports. Command structure was informed but they just had them continue the mission. It haunted him till he passed just recently of cancer.
War is a hell that's not going away and is often glorified to try to keep soldiers spirits higher. But as war gets further along, people hate it more, and the people blame the soldiers, not the ones creating such wars.
This video hits home to remind me of a friend who lost it all by the time he came back. Respect to those who serve, and may the souls of those who didn't deserve it rest well in the god of the religious belief they stick too.
