I recently dug my gpd out of storage and swapped the battery and messed around with my ribbon lcd cable to get it to work. I mainly just use it to play phantasy star online ephinea and its perfect for this lol. Honestly i think its superior to the newer GPDs for a few reasons and ill explain why
1. Size- Its smaller and lighter than all other GPDs with the GPD win 2 weighing a bit more and being closest in weight and also like 2x as powerful however this comes at the price of like 2x the price tag
2. Price- GPD inflated its prices alot over the years. I think you can still find good ones for around 200-300 bucks. For something thats a handheld PC and has some specs to play all sorts of things (even online games like LoL at a consistent framerate even if its 20 fps lol). Its truly insane, not to mention emulating basically anything you could want to
3. The fact its a PC and not some android crap as well as having a physical keyboard! The touch keyboards are shit and being able to do actual pc productivity stuff is great. I used mines for all sorts of work and even used with a monitor or a TV on numerous occasions.
Probs used mine like 2k+ hours on my original battery. Absolutely amazing purchase for 2016 standards
I agree with everything you said. This was a great device. I need to exchange my battery since I pushed it to it's limit.
I just bought the win 4, been following GPD since the win 1 but the tech just wasnt there at the time to run triple A without compromising. Now the tech is there and i feel like its the right time to adopt.

I haven't used my GPD in years, since like 2019, recently got it out and reinstalled windows, I own a Steam Deck but the GPD is always gonna be just as cool imo

Got this but some software I thought it could run didn't, sadly sold it for 200 back then. Because things like batocera could have made it a good system. Ordered the win max 2021 edition i7 1195g7 for 666 euros which is more than enough for me now but is like 3 times the cost of this but its also 4 to 18 times faster in every aspect.
The win max is a beast. That thing is definitely superior to the win 1. Yeah unfortunately some programs do not work... like power director. It would have been cool if that worked on the gpd1 since I use that program for video editing.. but it doesn't work

@@christhepocketmasterr don’t know what it is but the fact it’s a PC makes it work so much better than on the iPhone which is a stuttering mess. Controls are an absolute delight for fighting games too. No lag.
Hi! What should I look for in buying a 2nd hand gpd win1?
If you are willing to accept the flaws that come with it. 2nd hand or not, you will probably run into the same issues. I think if the owner states that they replaced something in it, the device is better than new. Especially if they replaced the battery or shell.
I bought one of these! Still waiting for it to arrive tho. :/ I'm looking to figure out if it will run GTA 5 and GTA 4. Also going up emulate to Wii if i can. +Portal 1 and 2, Half Life, and some other games.

Your battery may be to the point where it is too expanded to operate. You may need a new battery with heat sinking stuff along with it. Your system may also be shutting down because it is overheating.

@@HuntersWolf aliexpress has stuff for it. Or you could make it yourself. I made mine out of pennies which does work, but it looks pretty funny. If you have access to copper, explore with it.

I think its the best handheld to replace psvita or android. Its much lighter than super heavy Steam deck.
AYANEO AIR looks good because it's around 400g weigh so I will buy that if my GPD WIN is dead .
Mine died recently. I changed the battery and it was good to go. This gpd is very easy to disassemble.

The touch screen on my GPD 1 no longer works. It's an interesting device though. I'm excited for the new AMD APU powered handheld devices coming this year.

Had this one 2 year ago. Its getting hot after 20 min use. The sticks are not good!
I thought the sticks were good. They're very responsive. I could even play street fighter with them. The joypad on the other hand sucked. I agree, it did get hot, but if you apply heat sinking material it would be okay... but that stuff should just be included in the device already. I think you would enjoy the win 2 a lot better. The heat is not as bad.

You can play steam games, but I recommend the win 2 over this one. You could do a lot more with it. It also functions a little more normally than the win 1
