One of the most real reviews of Rolex. Your summary of the AD experience is exactly what all guys get worldwide. I gave up entirely and finally got one via a friend’s SA.

I was given my an appointment at my Rolex boutique on 6th September to register interest . Call 10 days later my watch was in , great watch , great on the wrist , perfect size as it wears smaller than 41 mm.. I love the unfussy nature, no polished surfaces so great as an everyday piece ..

Here in France my AD asked me for a €2000 deposit which I will send soon. I asked him about the waiting time and though he wasn't certain he was confident it wouldn't be very long, perhaps weeks and certainly not months. I want the turquoise blue version and have sold my Explorer 214270 from last year to afford it.

Hey Lewis! Also here in Miami. I was able to get the 41 in black at the Mayors in coral gables! I’m not sure how it ended up that one available with no wait, but luckily my aunt happened to be there and called me as soon as she found out and I have never moved faster lol. She also let me know that the wait if you put a deposit should only be about a month or two, so your wait might not be too long! I’d love to hear what you think once you actually have it. It’s a great watch!

"Do you want it with a date?"
That's hilarious. Don't you just love when the AD knows nothing about what they are selling and add so much value to the shopping experience? She must be new. Of course they are not taking deposits. I'm sure that the manager had to check with his "preferred flipper" first. I am amazed that you got a call back and they actually took the deposit. Looks like they took half including sales tax. That seems to be a materially serious commitment on their part.
Best of luck. It will be interesting to see how the Miami market is playing out and who will really have them first to sell out the "front door". ;-)

In an immense stroke of luck I just was offered and purchased the watch that is in your right shoulder background from my local AD. Yes, it actually happened. My advice, not only get on a list and put down a "deposit" but actually go in and build a "relationship" with your local AD. (even if your not a big spender, which I'm not). That effort will go miles. Is it unfortunate that you have to appear to "kiss ass"? Yes. Is it the world we now live in? Yes. But that being said, you may just build a real friendship. (which I did). The watch was just simply a subset of that. Good luck.

In the Chicagoland area a wait list for a Submariner date/no date in steel or precious metal is anywhere between a few months to 3 years. We have very few Rolex AD's (the main flagship is closed due to the riots a few months ago) and there are thousands of guys who want one and can buy one. Not to mention the big spenders, VIP clients will get first dibs. Rolex did hold back production because they are focused on their new models. Also they just built a new production facility. At this time they can't keep up with the world wide demand. They are also going to be more selective on where they ship new stock to. They are quietly trying to see which AD sells to clients who buy to flip and sell the hot steel sports models. Eventually after a few years the wait list will last a few months once customers get their watches. I can tell you AD sales reps are desperate for anything Rolex. Display cases are empty and they need the business. As far as the new OP's they will be in demand and difficult to find at 41mm some colors will be popular others will be available. Keep the Explorer II and Explorer in mind. Rolex is due to upgrade the movement (maybe redesign the case to a slim case design but kept at 39mm. The Explorer II is expected to be different and improved next year. 50 year anniversary. We don't know when will it début online since Basel World is dead and canceled for 2021.
