Disabled is accurate and makes it known that there are extra challenges for us. 'Differently abled' kind of erases the fact that there are difficulties for us when there is no access. Disabled brings awareness to the struggles we face. We need people to understand that access is important.

I don't mind disabled at all. The only one that bothers me is crippled. And I tell people that. "You can called me disabled, handicapped, whatever. But if you call me crippled/a cripple, we're gonna have problems."

I'm a lifelong wheelchair user. I've literally never cared if someone called me "disabled." I am disabled...lol. It's not an insult. It's a fact. Like you said, someone could use it negatively, but I don't see anything inherently wrong with the word "disabled."

I just came from Hamilton Evans "kiss me more " choreo and I was shook when I saw your dancing. I kinda had this misconception too that wheelchair user can't dance like really really well, but I was clearly wrong.
Also so amazed by how you made the adjustments to the choreo to fit you, but it still felt so alike to the choreo

I don’t say I am disabled. I say I have a walking disability. I don’t get insulted if someone calls me disabled. I just don’t like labeling myself. Good job with your video!

So glad the examples are back! I watched the first video & laughed. So I watched the second video. I was sad that there were no examples! However, your content was so interesting to me that I decided to watch the third video. I'm so glad I did! I'm a new wheelchair user (still waiting on it to get here) & trying to learn everything I can. You really inspire me!

I would rather be called disabled than crippled, however, that is just my personal preference.
Yet when someone goes out of their way to say that we can’t do something because were disabled, I usually let them have it for being super ignorant.

Wanted to say how great you are doing what you do. To answer your question about being called disabled. Personally I agree with you as long as it's not negative I don't care. I look at it this way. I "have a disability" which makes me "disabled." What I don't get is why people simply don't refer to me as Bruce which is my name. As for your cabinets and reaching for things up high. I would look into a different grabber. Found mine from home depot which is one solid piece and doesn't fold which can bend. Also, in your kitchen check into getting pull down cabinet inserts. Much easier to reach things in the upper cabinets. Keep doing what you do.

I don’t like that because people with a disability can yes date people who do not have a disability. And Mary people who do not have a disability. It is our preference on who we want to date. It doesn’t matter if you were blind like me, death, death blind, in a wheelchair, or any other disability across-the-board. I absolutely agree with you Miss Chelsea. It’s our preference on who we want to date aunt Mary. I’m deaf blind. And I don’t mind being c Deaf blind. Because that’s who I am. So I totally agree with you 1001% my beautiful love. I call you my beautiful love even though I cannot see you at all. I look at people with my heart.â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïžđŸ€ŸđŸ€ŸđŸ€ŸđŸ€Ÿ

On the subject of disabled / differently able: in my opinion (IT IS JUST MY OPINION), not liking to be called disabled as a disabled person is internalized ableism. It means that the person associates disability with something negative, which is ableist...

I have a ex boyfriend who is a motorized wheelchair user and he says handicapable. I now am a part time wheelchair user and I am trying to get a motorized wheelchair because its hard for me to go long distance with my messed up shoulders it hurts a lot. I bought my wheelchair on Craigslist and it was basically brand new. I have noticed a lot of the things you said I also had a boyfriend basically run away from the relationship because he was scared of my disability mainly my epilepsy.....this made me upset 😡 😒 I have been disabled for many years now but wasn't as bad as it is now. Now I'm scared to date for the fear of someone not wanting me because of my disabilities. Anyone ever have this problem?
