    I prefer Kobo over other ereaders for one single reason: it displays the book cover and the reading progress when in sleep mode. I just love this feature which I think it should be part of any ereader by default.
    Great video, mate...

    Hi Conrad. Thank you for the video. I have a Kobo Touch which I want to update so I can borrow from my local library. I had been recommended this particular Kobo so it was really helpful to find this - and as I haven't been able to read in the bath up to now knowing that the Kobo Aura H20 is waterproof is rather exciting. Thank you letting us know about the battery life too. Jackie

    Updated my Kindle to this Kobo and it is awesome. Have read over 6,000,000 words on it already, and no eye strain.

    I still have the Kobo Glo and tried whatever the equivalent gen of the Kindle was at the time and defineatly thought that the Kobo was much better for the price.

    My question is about turning the device on and off....I have a Kobo Touch and you have to slide on and off and this often does not work well....very frustrating....has this been remedied in the newer versions?

    It's hard to tell... is it black on white, or is it black on grey? I love reading, but black on white gives me a headache. My nook took a splash of water, and it got screwed up for several days; and it got me interested in replacements. I have the original nook without the backlight, and I want to be able to read in dense foliage on a clouded day (in a hammock). I need epub... for various reasons... and I want black on grey for the low contrast ease of reading. If you've seen the nook, how would you say it compares with low contrast?

    Can you get an extended warranty on the Kobo? I hear all sales are final and people who end up with lemons will suffer greatly.

    I wonder when reading mostly at night in bed, if an ereader is still the better choice over a small tablet. Especially when you need some light from the device it self and the fact a tablet is more multifunctional. I prefer white/gray on black 'paper' when reading on my smartphone. What do you think is the better choice? An ereader or tablet?

    good review but if it wasn't waterproofed it would not change my opinion of it. most of us have common sense enough to be careful not to immerse our electronic devices in water.

    does your kobo plastic crack at the bottom part? I have already received the replacement and the bottom part of e-reader makes a cracking noise. such a shame that their build quality has decreased.

      You can read PDF on kobo's but its a bit slow. YOu only have to plug the kobo into the computer and then you will see the kobo as a harddrive which you can copy pdf's on. The kindle seem to handle PDF's a bit better but kobo's are such a better e reader do to the many supported files.

    • @EminoMeneko
      @EminoMeneko Před 6 lety +7

      i will give my 50 cents. Kindle looks super nice and has high quality construction when you buy a cheap eReader this is mainly where it hurts. The construction quality sucks. Kobo is in the same quality grade as Kindle but the big difference is the formats each one can read. Put shortly Kindle promotes it's proprietary AZW format while Kobo uses the open EPUB format mainly. I'd go Kobo just for that. That said you should be fine with any of these thanks to software such as Calibre that allows it to convert between formats. I bought books on both Amazon and Google play so I rather want to stick with open standards which is usually a good idea.

    • @annabanabanana

      ooo ooo could you explain the purpose and what these two formats do? Why is ePub better?

  • @andyd1805

    Does this ereader still emit bluelight??? Doesnt eink NOT emit bluelight I mean that's the main reason people are getting it and the fact that the reading experience is near paper

    • @churchofmarcus
      @churchofmarcus Před 5 lety +1

      It only does with the frontlight on and even then, it does not if you are using the night setting. Additionally the frontlight on an ereader is shining the light at the surface of the reader as opposed to out of it toward your eyes. Even with the frontlight on you can read any ereader for hours without your eyes getting tired the way they do with a phone or computer screen.

    Went on a year long bike tour and didn't have an e-reader and it was painful. I read books on my phone, it was a Samsung with a OLED screen witch is good if you set the background to black and only the letters are lit up so it is easier on the eyes. OLED black is off but when I shut my eyes I could still see the letters. I want a waterproof option, I have the nook that had the first light up built in and it isn't waterproof. Also it only has a blue light. This would be a good upgrade, this is probably what I'll get.
