2001 Expedition Liftgate door latch cable replacement

How to replace 2001 Expedition Liftgate cable for a lift gate that no longer opens.
The cable was purchased from Amazon.
The part had to be modified to fit into the metal slot on the Liftgate opening mechanism. The part from Ford was more expensive, but may fit better without modification.
