@@calebniederhofer6529 I definitely see your point. However the Ridgeline has a target audience for people that don't need the power and towing capacity that a Ford ranger or Tacoma does.
If people needed that type of utility in a truck then probably wouldn't be looking at a Ridgeline in the first place.

I own a 2021 RTL-E. I've had many different trucks in the past, but now that I've matured (70) finally, this one is at the top of my list. It'll haul my motorcycle trailer without effort, carry whatever I need in the bed for my many projects, fit 4 adult men in the interior with their golf clubs in the bed. For me personally it fits the bill at 100%!! There really isn't anything I don't like about this truck.

Thank you for doing these videos.
I recently bought a 2022 Black Edition and have had it about a week, your comments and insights helped me with my buying decision. If I was in your neck of the woods, I would have bought this truck at the dealership you shot it. I also own a 2006 HD2500 Diesel for pulling my 28' travel trailer, when we go, the bed is typically loaded with my KTM 450, ice chests, gear etc. Its a big truck, and I appreciate power.
However, this Ridgeline is nothing like it. In fact, you actually need to push your right foot down, or shift down with the paddles to get this little boy up and moving. It drives like a "Gentleman's Car" just like you said. 100% on point.
Here's the thing... I love it. Its my daily driver and I can actually put both my 450 and my eBike in the back no problem. Great vehicle.
One final comment. Your videos are great, I love the subtle (use your turn signal > you idiot) comments. Your audio is exceptional and your cadence with talking points are clearly professional. I hope you are getting the same value back from your subscribers that your are delivering to the audience. You do a really good job.

I'm just guessing that that TrailSport package on Pilot. It might be standard on Ridgeline with tweaks to suspension.
It could have same or different lift.
      The 2nd Generation Ridgeline 2017-2023
      The 3rd Generation Pilot 2016-2022
They have some different suspension parts. Some are made different some are made out of different materials. This is for truck duty. Stuff like suspension knuckles. Many test reviewers say Ridgeline rides better than Pilot.
Consumer Reports gives Ridgeline better road test scores than Pilot.
But several reviewers said Ridgeline over Pilot. It might have been Everyday Driver.
I suspect new redesign Ridgeline 2024 news this spring.

Honda needs to offer a 1.5'' lift/ levelling pkg to bring the ground clearance from 7.6" to just over 9" for rural roads. Offer an optional engine with more low end torque. They have the 3.0T with 355/354 which would be great. With the 2023 Pilot getting the 10 spd, the Ridgeline should hopefully get for 2024.

We bought a used 2019 RTL-E; I was on-the-fence about the ZF-9 speeds... putting together Japanese and European differential-system just seems like oil and water. Plus, do you even use 1st and 9th? It's a 7-speed 99% of the time; 1st when towing, 9th when cruising at, what, 105 mph?
We've been okay with it so far. I had to install a truck-gate lock on it; Honda didn't put locks on the truck-gate until 2020 model I think... for whatever reason.
There's also some major limitations with the types of tonneau-covers you can put on this thing, and the OEM Honda cover was sheer crap until parts-revision 101-102 I think.
Timing-belt HAS to be replaced at 100k... yup, a belt... although I've read some compelling arguments why Honda still uses a belt... I dunno, the jury's still out.
It's a good truck... just some wonky implementations; if you're going to have truck-bed audio, how do you miss a standard, locking gate?
I will say that the truck-bed liner... that's the BEST ever, incredibly tough. You can slide concrete cinder-blocks on that thing... doesn't even scratch it. Really impressive.
AWD... can't beat it, especially on steep, dry, rocky, winding trails going up and down these river bends... never could get the 4WD in the Tundra to work well in these conditions... no maneuverability without tearing-up the rack-and-pinion. This Honda bounces around these trails like a 4WD Geo Tracker, it's really cool.
I've seen at some dealerships, they're putting running-boards on these things. I can't make any sense of that... I guess it gives it a street-look.

Everything about this is pretty good, is this on a truck chasis? I have to say its appearance is probably the worst of all mid sized pick up trucks and why it immediately fell off my radar. It's way to boxy and rigid looking. Compare the body style to any other midsized and you'll see what i mean, if they change that to make it more sleek you'd probably see an uptick in sales.....but even then it's still on what i believe an SUV chassis, hence the better ride. Nice video though, would get one if i was as you said n the beginning, older and wanting that "Truck" look but not really a truck.

My few complaints about the ridgeline is that it seems like it has leftover parts from the 1st gen TLX, the way the center console looks similar and dated, same as the infotainment, looks just like the 1st gen TLX. The 9 speed and engine? It's the same one from all TLX. At this point, it's time to drop those and upgrade them to the current stuff they are building for their recent cars.

    • @fredmoss4540
      @fredmoss4540 Před rokem

Well you comparing to TLX. The Ridgeline shares most of its part's with Pilot and Passport Suvs. This makes it cheaper to build. The original 1st Gen Ridgeline only shared 7% parts with any other Honda vehicle. Only selling about 30k-40k units per year its cost effective to share part's.
When the introduced 2nd Gen Ridgeline some part's they showed were different or made out of different materials than Pilot. This was like suspension parts knuckles were one I remember.

It has bluetooth pairing, but it still does not have "wireless" android auto, which is starting to become common. You need the usb cable unless you get something like the Motorola MA1 wireless android auto adapter.

    • @schGjS
      @schGjS Před rokem

@@LA-db9xj I think it may not be capable. Our other car, a 2017 Buick, is the same, bluetooth but only capable of android auto / apple car play with a hardwire connection. No updates for that either, but it can work with an android auto wireless adapter like the Motorola MA1. Seems to me that the hardware in the Ridgeline has not changed since gen 2 started in 2017, no real updates. The manufacturers have no incentive to software update something already sold unless it is a warranty issue.

Where's the 2023 2024 upgrades. Updated version. Bigger wheel and tire package. Wider exterior and interior 1ft length more 1ft width driver to passenger. More cab space driver to passenger with a 4 inch clearance seat to seat 4 ways each chair. 3-4" inch. liftkit Stepbars . Larger panoramic moon roof so the rear row passengers can enjoy the view as well. Heated rear seats. Portable Bluetooth speaker 🔊 to keep you entertained no matter where you go. But it charges when you bring it back to the center console area it allows wireless charging. Honestly the Ridgeline truckbed needs updating . Where's the wide body version 👀 at least make it look wider during the next production. Make a foldable travel trailer to haul more than that small truckbed the Ridgeline has . Hopefully the engineers over at Honda headquarters can debate during the concept view. I definitely love the shape of the Ridgeline but it needs at least a foot more width and length interior design/Exterior.

I case of Ridgeline you have to think your paying for a Pilot with a bed.
It is upgraded for pickup truck duty diffrent suspension parts or made out of different materials.
The best version of the Pilot many reviewers say. It's going to cost more to manufacture a mid-sized Unibody pickup truck vs Body-On Frame pickup.
The difference is Ride Handling and Driving Dynamics. You would prefer Ridgeline on a 1,000 mile road trip over most of the other pickup trucks.

A real truck user knows. When you try to load it at a supply house of any trade , you quickly find how badly designed / useless it is. Todays truck are built more for games like off roading. Not real life like actually working with them. Otherwise you would see the commercials showing them being loaded instead of them rock climbing .
