    I would recommend getting a cartilage kit for the front forks because it will be more consistent than the air forks

    Sweet bike and great vid! I race these (now 23 fs450) both on kart tracks (smec, nemm) and road race (NEMRR) reach out if you have any questions. One thing of note. No one runs the TC because it's too intrusive and actually lowers HP when turned on. (All the time, even with no slip defected) also practice launches with launch control because although it works well many people accidentally shut it off (closing throttle after activation) and loop out on the grid thinking it's still on

    • @vtranmoto
      @vtranmoto  Před rokem

      Wow, thank you so much for the tips! Really appreciate it. For the big track what do you run gearing wise? I'm looking forward to trying it out on our track out here.

    • @jameswalters9311
      @jameswalters9311 Před rokem +1

      @@vtranmoto 16/40 is the tallest gearing available for the new bikes (so far) and I'm not sure yet if anyting taller would physically fit. (I need to do some more measuring) because of the new transmission gear ratios and crankcase design this is slightly lower than what was achievable on the 22 bikes. (16/39.5 would be mathematically comparable to my 22 fs450) this would get you a real life top speed of about 108mph. These bikes at speed are a very different experience. They move/wobble a lot! I also have tricks for that too that I could share.

    • @ShockTech326
      @ShockTech326 Před rokem +1

      Are these SM's terrifying at 100+ MPH from the wobbling? Any concern of engine overheating and/or failure? I've been considering one for AHRMA.

    • @jameswalters9311
      @jameswalters9311 Před rokem +2

      @@ShockTech326 they're not terrifying but you definitely have to learn to "ride the wave". They are a ton of fun and turn in so quick it's shocking. You can also brake 2-3 markers deeper than a sport bike. On a technical "big track" they dominate. But on more open flowy stuff they will not hang. There was one local guy at Loudon winning middleweight (vs R6) on a 450 motard. No overheating issues. We get about a 100 hours out of the motor with a 50 hour top end refresh.

    • @jameswalters9311
      @jameswalters9311 Před rokem +3

      A steering damper is a must for big tracks. Scotts top of bar mount works the best. (Gotta side mount solo2) (Turn the damper all the way down for karts tracks)

      @@Kawasaki10rr yes unfortunately, the 450 motors if you ride them hard, oil change every 3-4 hours. In the past I had 690 for twisty roads as well as Hypermotards which are bigger bikes, but still pretty playful in the country roads.

    im turning 18 soon, and im saving up money to a 450, but i dont know what yo buy tho. Either a 450 EXC or a 450 SMR. If you have something out of experience you can say which is maybe better? im going to do tonns of wheelies and drive around with friends and i do have a Aprilia SX 125, but the fork oil seals have broken two times now, becuase of the wheelies.
    So i dont know which of the two bikes that i want, soo you got a recommendation?

    • @vtranmoto
      @vtranmoto  Před rokem

      Hey man! That’s exciting! It totally depends on what type of riding you want to do. The SMR is track only - like it literally doesn’t have lights or license plate to be ridden anywhere else but the track. Tbh, if I were your age and young again (lol) I’d go for the EXC and do some trails and dirt riding. (1) fun, (2) way cheaper than road racing/track, and (3) you’ll learn a lot of riding skill that you can always take to road racing/track later in life. It’s very very hard going from road racing/track to dirt, but easier to go the other way around!
