I started using this a week ago and absolutely adore it, it’s fast and to the point and lends the work a stylised compression without losing a sense of light and mass. And I love the rgb sliders, it really feels like you can mix colours rather than just picking them. This is a great little tutorial, really enjoyed your work.

Thank you so much Carl! They sure have updated the app a lot since I posted this tutorial, so I'm not sure if it's relevant anymore haha, but I agree it's great to have the sliders and I love how painterly the work is. Need to pick it up again!

Seems like a great digital tool for quick impressions. For some reason it's reminding me of the early iPad art programs that got me back into art in 2010/11, though that's probably just because I haven't done digital art for a while...

Hi Heather,
I love your lemons and your approach to the app. I can see the potential for fun with this app - it seems to respond more like paint does, if you get what I mean? Maybe it just feels more painterly than other digital apps that feel like sketchpads with brushes and paint buckets added on. For some strange reason, i like this app more. Thanks for sharing your tips and discoveries.

Thank you for your videos. I was curious why you decided to choose Heavypaint over other apps like Procreate? :D

I do use procreate but honestly never got into it very much. I think I like the challenge and simplicity of HEAVYPAINT. By not having layers or tons of brushes to choose from it just helps keep my mind on painting instead of fiddling with settings. For professional digital art I just use my cintiq and photoshop, so this is just a nice app to play and experiment with. Procreate is still awesome and if I want to do any refined work, I would use that.
