      thats so awesome, you kids today are so lucky to be able to follow tutorials like Marks and others.they are way better teachers than the old highschool teachers we had in my day! i took art at school and faild to take turn in one piece of work,as the teacher was only interseted in perving on these two girls. im now 48 and started drawing for my boy,now people tell me i should be selling my drawings.....that teacher failed 99% of us as kids. Mark as thought me more in one video! (not saying all teachers are like that by the way). happy drawing

    I started drawing the backgrounds like this just a while before this video was made! I got it through the technique of another channel called koizu who draws poses with simple rough shapes and saves details for last. He said that the position is more important than the details, which really helped me out! It gets the job done easier and quicker.

But you've made it so clear and easy to understand that now I can do it without feeling frustrated. I am still learning but it's a process I enjoy immensely. Have a good one.

    Thank you Marc! :) that helped me so much to understand 3-Point Perspective and I can finally develop my concept arts with this method! I'm kinda happy that I also realized that it's appropriate to start without the ruler and then continue with it. The ruler always shows me that I did it so wrong but thats no problem because it's a big help when I see my lines and just correct them afterwards. Btw. I also drew an forgotten temple with scratches and so on, what a nice coincidence.

    I created a small stage for manikins and such and set up my sketch pad on a work table set up with pegs and strings for quickly establishing any number of perspective points and discovered that all of the shadows on the stage tied to a single subterranean point no matter where on the stage the object was. This is using a single overhead light aimed at the stage.

    I'm more use to naming my vanishing points as simple L.V.P., R.V.P., B.V.P., rather than to have it with other names. But then, whatever works, as long as the finished product is beautiful and presentable, your audience will not bother how the process and what you applied (and called).

    Hey Mark. I'm an amateur in every sense of the word. As a younger child I was rather good at art and drawing but didn't really draw throughout high school. I've always had some natural talent so I recently decided to try my hand at it again. I hate to say it but I lost so much skill, but thanks to your videos and stories I'm able to keep motivated to try and improve so thank you so much. I've heard you say in some of your videos that your UK viewers have trouble finding your books. I recently ordered a copy of Brody's Ghost book 1 from my local WHSmiths store (a store that can be found through out the UK or at least in England and Wales), I just thought id let you know that there's a place you can tell your UK viewers that they can buy your books. Looking forward to the read, wishing you the best: a huge fan :D

    @argella1300 Před 8 lety

    There are other ways to do this (mostly) digitally. If you draw a top down floor plan of what you want your scene to look like- this works best with interior spaces, but it could be adjusted for exterior scenes and landscapes- and scan it into your computer, then open the image with your preferred photo-editing software. Really, so long as you have a skew tool and a perspective grid tool, you're basically set. Make your points like Mark did, skew your photo to match those points, and draw your image.

    Hey I realized that you are the one who wrote the Drawing Lesson book I really enjoyed. I loved it, but the last chapter had me in tears. I'm writing a graphic memoir and I'm researching all of this. I have a scene in court and going to court was scary as heck, so I am trying to figure out how to use Illustrator to draw a court room from a worm's eye view to show how scary it was. I'll look and see if you have a room from a worm's eye view, but thanks for your book. I made a mind map of your book.
