  • Tarantulas may seem scary and disgusting to some people, but for others, they're a tasty snack. The Huottüja are an Indigenous people who have been eating them for generations. Join DW reporter Joel Dullroy on an adventure through the Amazonian rainforest in Venezuela where he observes a ceremony with psychoactive plants, and gets very close to a sacred mountain.
Please note: The report includes footage of spiders being hunted, killed, and eaten.
The German Foreign Office is currently advising against travel to this part of Venezuela.

I did the Autana tour several years ago. Not as long as yours, but it was still wonderful. I enjoyed it even more than Canaima - Salto Angel, also an awesome place worth to know. Autana is very underrated destination. I hope it can be sustainably visited by as much people as possible, locals and foreigers, without losing its rustic charm.
