Thank you. Your doubt is a good one. Actually you can do it both ways depending on which question you ask. Thank you Soham. By subordinator I think you mean the marker like when, where, because, if, although etc. right? Yes you can look at them but they are not reliable. You need to ask the question when? where? why? how? what if? although what? etc. to the verb to get the clause as your answer. For noun clause ask the verb who? or what? to get the clause as answer and for adjective clause ask which? or what kind? to the noun (not verb) This is the acid test.

Thank you so much mam🙏. You really clear my doubt. I request you to clear my one more doubt😊 that is.......if verb and subject are present in both sentence as well as clause then what's a difference between them.🙏🙏
There is no difference between independent clauses and a sentence. It is only the subordinate clause that does not have a subject of its own and is dependent on the main clause.
This video is very helpful! I do have a question regarding the sentence, "The reason why I was sad is unknown." "why I was sad" answers to the question "which" ---> shouldn't it make it an adjectival clause instead of a noun clause? Thank you for your help.
Was is the past tense of is. The verbs am, is, are, was, were, will be, are all form of the primary verb "to be". Being and been are the present and past participle forms added to make continuous (is being) and perfect tenses. (has been). All verbs!
Thankyou so much Ma'am. I have a doubt in the following sentence. The Plan has the virtue (of committing us to nothing.) What is the right question to ask, The plan has what virtue or The plan has which virtue
You don't frame questions. You merely ask the verb who or what? or the noun the question which? In this case: Has what? Ans - the virtue. which virtue? Ans - of committing us ........ If you frame big questions you will go wrong.
Thank you ma'am for your wonderful presentation... ❤️ Just one doubt...the sentence on the board "He went where no one went before" should have been, in my opinion, " He went where no one had gone before" if we follow the sequence of tenses. Correct me if I am wrong ma'am.
Yes you are absoluely correct. It is the better structure, though 'went' uses a bit of poetic licence and is not terribly wrong. But I agree 'had gone' is definitely more suited.
Thanks for your wonderful explanation, Madam. Mam, how the sentence of "The reason why i was sad was unkown"can be Noun clause, why not, Adverbial Clause instead?
To get to an adverbial clause you need to ask the main verb one of these questions: when, where, why, how, if what, although what? The verb in the main clause: is 'was'. If you ask why was unknown? Do you get an answer? no. To get a noun clause you ask the question what? to the verb. What was unknown? ans: the reason why I was sad. So that is can be correct. If you say the main clause is: The reason was unknown. Then ask which reason? Ans: why I was sad = adjectival clause.

good morning Dear teacher. I have a question. In relation to the sentence "The reason why I was sad is unknown." what about the depndent clause "why I was sad". Is it functioning as an Adjectival clause?
Nice video mam, have few doubts while practicing. In the sentence "I have forgotten to play chess". I asked the question what have I forgotten which should be a noun phrase. However the answer is Adverb phrase. Can you please help me
For noun phrase you ask the question who or what to the verb. Here the verb is 'have forgotten'. What? 'to play chess'. This is a noun phrase. To get an adverb phrase you need to ask the verb questions like when, where, why, how, although what?, what if? Do you get the answer 'to play chess'? No. Hence it is a noun phrase.
All your classes are really effective ma'am . Thanks for uploading such classes. It would be of great help if you help me out with this doubt. He gave me everything that I asked for. Is everything that I asked for a noun clause since it answers the question what. Please help me out ma'am . But In the answer key it is given adjective clause
Thanks Bindu. In your sentence, you are right if you ask the question what? to the verb 'gave' But if you ask which? "everything" ? then the answer would be the adjective clause 'that I asked for' - telling us more about the noun 'everything'. So both are correct. Understand the functions.
Really we should appreciate ur efforts mam🙏ur lecture is clear mam...but in the 5th example (The reason why I was sad is unknown) how it become noun Clause I didn't understand mam. Will u plz explain mam😊
You are right. I asked What is unknown? and got a noun clause 'The reason why I was sad'. But I would rather I had asked Which reason? why I was sad = adjective clause. I agree the adjective clause is better.
Mam your teaching is really amazing. I am annoyed and Freck out with phrase and subordinate clause. They are very similar i guess . Can u plz help me with that topic.
Look at the simple compound complex video and Types of phrases. Find in playlist. It will be clear. A phrase does not have a verb a subordinate clause does.
what/who? to the verb = noun. which/ what kind? to the noun = adjective. when/ where /why /how / what if/ although what? to the verb = adverb. Answers must come directly not through another word in either the question or answer.

AOA Madam I have some questions: Madam If complete sentence was not given as I have some examples A)Behind their Instruments B) Angrily across the stage How we recognized these phrases that are Adjectival or adverbial? Kindly answer
They are phrases is certain. What kind they are will depend on their function in the sentence. For example He hid the book behind their instruments is adverbial (hid where?) The book behind the instruments is the music book is adjective (which book?)
Hello Mam, Please look at this sentence: The stage at which cancer is curable is already over. Question: I can deduce that the group of words("at which cancer is curable") is modifying the noun(stage), so the group of words is playing adjectival function. However, I don't know what to call this group of words. The group starts with a preposition (at), so maybe it is a preposition phrase. But then I will have to call the sub-group("which cancer is curable") a noun clause. However, doing so doesn't make sense. Please guide me!
It cannot be a phrase simply because it contains a verb 'is'. What is your main clause? The stage is already over. Which stage? 'at which cancer is curable'. adjectival clause. the pronoun 'which' stands for 'stage'. It would have read as: the stage at (the stage) cancer is curable. so the prepositional phrase is simply 'at which' or 'at the stage'. It is the 'which' that complicates this.

If you say the main clause is: The reason was unknown. Then ask which reason? Ans: why I was sad = adjectival clause.

Excellent. Glad this helped.
good morning Dear teacher. I have a question. In relation to the sentence "The reason why I was sad is unknown." what about the depndent clause "why I was sad". Is it functioning as an Adjectival clause?
Yes. I agree. It is more of an adjectival (which reason?) than a noun (What is unknown?).
Undoubtedly , one of the Best presentations! I get this.
Wow, thank you!
I have watched 100 plus videos on clauses on utube all are gootafication but r real 👌👌👌👌
Thank you
Nice video mam, have few doubts while practicing.
@@TheMindspringsEnglishTeacher Thanks a lot ma'am. Thanks for your response 🙏
Ma'am you are an ocean of knowledge as far as English grammar is concerned 🙏

Mam your teaching is really amazing.
I am annoyed and Freck out with phrase and subordinate clause.
They are very similar i guess .
Can u plz help me with that topic.
Look at the simple compound complex video and Types of phrases. Find in playlist. It will be clear. A phrase does not have a verb a subordinate clause does.
Mam u are genius in grammer and your idea's are also genius like u

Madam,What should be the questions,if we want to get to know about different classes and Phrases? Or how to identify all these?
what/who? to the verb = noun. which/ what kind? to the noun = adjective. when/ where /why /how / what if/ although what? to the verb = adverb. Answers must come directly not through another word in either the question or answer.
your opinion about teaching English in our schools stand correct and we are all victims of that taken for granted mindset . your classes prove what we had been lost all along the life.superb meticulous performance .Long live .👍. Nambiar
Thanks Gangadharan :) Glad you liked it.
I love your style of teaching. Could you please do transformation of simple, compound and complex sentences?
Noted.
AOA Madam I have some questions:
Madam If complete sentence was not given as I have some examples
A)Behind their Instruments
B) Angrily across the stage
How we recognized these phrases that are Adjectival or adverbial?
Kindly answer
They are phrases is certain. What kind they are will depend on their function in the sentence.
For example He hid the book behind their instruments is adverbial (hid where?)
The book behind the instruments is the music book is adjective (which book?)
Hello Mam,
Please look at this sentence:
The stage at which cancer is curable is already over.
Question:
I can deduce that the group of words("at which cancer is curable") is modifying the noun(stage), so the group of words is playing adjectival function.
@@TheMindspringsEnglishTeacher Got it! It is a relative clause that happens to begin with a preposition (before the relative pronoun).

Madam .in verb phrase verb is there..and also any different in predicate and phrase?
Keep it simple. Do not get knotted in terminology. Avoid verb phrase. They are compound verbs like has been going, should have taken etc.
Ma'am I think you are the best teacher
Thanks a lot

So nice of you
Maam can you tell this answer
I have a ring which is made of silver
Here the clause is which is made o of silver
I want to ask if it is adjective or noun clause
Does it describe the ring, or does it answer the question: what? asked to the verb?
It does both
@@DreamAchieveInspire2006 the clause is describing the noun over here(ring) and so it should be an adjective clause.. asking what to the the verb here will not give you the answer 'which is made of silver '
