Elden Ring - Unused Godfrey Dialogue

- Some unused audio for Godfrey, the First Elden Lord. The first part where he tells you to go to the Lands Between is in the audio transcript. However, the parts afterwards are not so the subtitles may not be 100% accurate. Those lines appear to be related to his boss encounter. Anyways, enjoy the video :)

"Forgive me, Morgott... Thy rest is well deserved."
😢
1:50 Godfrey suddenly gains a west country accent
*_feer_*
LMAO
i just died laughing
I love this so much lmao
This is also very noticeable in the lines he has in-game when he reverts to his Hoarah Loux identity, and I think it's intended. He was originally a warrior from probably a provincial region, and I think the implication is that his somewhat more (but not wholly) standard pronunciation as Godfrey is only an affectation that he took on when Marika made him Elden Lord, and she and Serosh 'civilized' him.
“Be proud, warrior. There is no shame in defeat to a king”
“Use thy might to become Elden Lord”
Godfrey just easily became my favourite character in Elden Ring.
He gives me Vendrick vibes
Indeed
"Elden Ring o' Elden Ring,
furthermore, you don't have the right o' you don't have the right"
Bro loved her from the bottom of his heart
She's gorgeous even as a crumbling mess, It's very understandable
@@traineryvar7123 On the outside, not so much the inside. Godfrey and Radagon be simping.
@@TheStraightestWhitest Radagon/Marika: I am Radagon and Marika is me!
Romans and Greeks pertained in their mystery cults that gods in their purest forms were hermaphrodites. It is nice that the notion has inspired Elden Ring.
@@matiasluukkanen7718 they merged in the lore somehow, they were separate entities. It's still a mystery as to how and why they were merged, I'm assuming it was the work of the elden beast.
@@anmolfrostthe greater will wanted to punish marika for rebelling and radagon for failing, what better way to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. so the greater will merged em both and imprisoned em.
He is more of a stoic character in the final cut of the game. He doesn't mention Marika directly or ask Morgott for forgiveness.
But the mourned Morgott in the cutscene before the boss fight.
Huh… this really does help with characterization. Despite being banished and so forth - it’s as though he understands the purpose of his exile, and simply wishes to reclaim him former rule, and free is former wife.
Yeah but this is cut dialogue and doesn’t reflect his real character much. To my understanding, he only returns to fight you as he is a warrior at heart as supported by his Armor set. He doesn’t really care about protecting the Erdtree or saving Marika, just fighting the Tarnished strong enough to burn the Erdtree, kill Demigods, and possibly have the strength to become Lord like him
@@dexi600 he returns to become Elden Lord, not to fight the player, and that's entirely in line with this dialogue.
“Be proud, warrior. There is no shame in defeat to a king” wow
godfrey is honestly the nicest warrior, he compliments you even when you lose to him stating its fine to lose to a king, rather then saying "haha you suck you lost to a king". and when you defeat him he knows you will be a worthy sucessor, everyone in the game has been rude to you because they all believed your incapable of becoming elden lord merley being a "lowly tarnished". but godfrey knew a tarnished would make it to the end from the very beginning
Maliketh acknowledges that you'll choose whatever fate you like when you beat him if you've done his quest or especially in his unused dialogue. Him and Godfrey are the only ones I believe.
@@TheStraightestWhitest malenia also complements you when you kick her ass
I especially appreciate the diffrence between Godfreys and Godricks dialogue.
Godfrey acknowledges you, even if he beats you, while his descendent Godrick is refusing to pay you any respect, even if you crush em without trouble.
@@TheStraightestWhitest Melenia also recognises your strength
‘Your strength… extraordinary. The mark of a true lord. I’m sorry Miquella. My brother. I finally met my match’
"It's been a long while morgott"
😥
It was honestly sad bro made me sad when he said that
1:22 Chill, Godfrey! You're not Hoarah Loux yet!
This scene has always felt so epic to me.
The way that the grace points to you, telling Godfrey that YOU are the target to reach the ring is just so badass.
(I could be wrong though, but man, it's still cool)
I thought he was gonna sing Christmas carols 💀
So much dialogue that gave depth to characters has been removed. This is very sad.
Think he wants us to seek the Elden Ring
Interesting how Godfrey seems to have originally been intended to be the narrator from the beginning
He was intended to be an NPC
It sounds like he would have been an intro boss before you cross the fog “SEEK THE ELDEN RING!”
It seems apparently at some point you were supposed to be outside of Lands Between. "You must travel to the lands across the fog", seems to suggest, that at some point perhaps the prologue was supposed to be outside of the Lands Between, and that he was the one to tell you to return to The Lands Between
Its probably just a alternate version of the intro or some test recording.
I think the Tarnished is probably from the badlands, and was a part of Hoorah Loux’s clan, like Nepheli.
He appearing in other instances of the game (not counting the ghost in Leyndell) for more dialogue as it was the case with the other tarnished you met in the journey would have been neat.
interesting thing to note: his axe features the same marks as the beastmans weapons which are all covered in 'Lindworms'.
dou naht feehr, deer erdtrae
When talking about the erdtree and marika, he sounded a bit like a overly pridefull joke Cartoon character, maybe It wasn't the intention but i Can see why those got cut.
Yeah. If this had been added I would not have had anywhere near as much respect to him.
Wtf are you people yapping about
It occurs to me that certain characters were meant to have a lot more dialogue (Godfrey, Godrick, Morgott)
Maliketh too.
@@TheStraightestWhitestand Malenia
@@cptfreeman8966 She was going to be an ally in early development. Would've been interesting.
Yeah and her dialogue was influenced by how you progressed Milicents quest which leads me to believe that Malenia has some of millicents memories meaning technically speaking she can still be considered an ally depending upon how you look at it @@TheStraightestWhitest
Some of these lines feels similar to the memories of the king part of dark souls 2
I’m really curious if these dialogues are going to be used ever in the DLC? they are so good and put a lot more depth to Godefery’s character.
Its hard to tell if he really loved marika, considering we know next to nothing about her personality other than she was a very manipulative scheming person. I mean i do think he did love her (idk what he saw in her tho) but i doubt she loved godfrey and if she did she still was bound to the greater will and dropped him like a bad habit. Still weird to hear him call her dearest marika.
2:15 joder como la desea!
What the hell is this voice actor doing with the accent fluctuations?
I feel like some parts of a voice are probably easy to them but the more subtle bits are hard to maintain. Like doing a British accent you can only sound decent when you use words with more noticable accent.
Yeah, I mean they were cut for a reason lol@@persondavis1294
I really like to think Godfrey never had an accent before he became elden lord but had to be "fancy" when he took on the name Godfrey and serosh was like bro you can be talking like an unga bunga man anymore hence the weird ass accent fluctuating lmao
@shirokun002 Yeah lmfao, he had to swear to act accordingly.
No wonder all these lines were cut, lol. They're all terrible.
The line "Be ready once It Is shattered" can change the ENTIRE context of the game
