Had a tooth infection and I've been up all night watching reactions to HI Ren and one thing I've noticed in almost all the reactions is its people are stunned to silence at the end. We are so starved of true art these days people are amazed to see it. We are so used to being fed industry shit we've forgotten art

Great reaction. I only recently learned about Ren and have gone down this rabbit hole ever since. Many of the subjects, experiences, and emotions expressed in his songs touch me on a very personal level because I can relate to and identify with many of his struggles.
A little background on Ren that I gathered from the internet. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue. His illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours a day. Ren was initially diagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome. It would take seven years before he was finally correctly diagnosed with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and brain damage. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. He is currently in Canada for more treatments.
Ren is an incredible and unique artist; he plays multiple instruments, has great vocal ability, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. From what I read, his videos are generally shot live, all in one take by his friend. I recommend you check out some of his other work. The trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" is haunting and has an unexpected ending; WATCH THEM IN THE STATED ORDER, as this is the flow of the storyline or just watch “The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)” which includes “Violet’s Tale at the end. It is another example of Ren’s genius and a master’s class in storytelling.
Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. I would watch the official live music video. "Chalk Outlines" is one of my favorite songs rights now. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation.
As a solo act, Ren performs a range of genres, much of it hip-hop/rap influenced, as well as guitar-based ballads. His performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling”), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”) and any of his performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up) are awesome and well worth checking out, both the busking (street performances) and their live recordings. Ren has impressive vocal and instrumental skills. He is one-of-a-kind and appears mature beyond his years.
Ren just released his latest single, “Sick Boi.” In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next 3-6 months that he expects to be gone.

He does almost everything live in one take. Look at the moikes. On his other videos he uses the buildings for reverb. Or you can hear the noise when he leans against the wall so you know its live.

I discovered this two days ago, and this Artist has managed to capture the eternal struggle of a mortal being, from the depths of humanity, all the way to the complexity of creation via the creator in the ultimate dualistic struggle between the light & dark. Is this young man not narrating the current internal/external conflict we are all currently experiencing in our reality. Fuck we're in a simulation! Lol, this concept, sure it's been done before, but it has never been done like this, not, never! Ren is 21st century bard, he will have you aligned so spectacularly with his story that you forget everything but his words for the moments you are privileged to witness him showcase a glimpse of his soul. Very intimate art right here. This is what music and story is suppose to be, this the anti-product of the current "Music Industry." This is the thing they wanted to remove from music by weighting it only with dark and negative effect. This right here, is harmony, balance, and true respect for the struggle that is human existence. Most of us know the battle he speaks of, if you have not given up, if you have not sold out to the dark side, you will fully appreciate the raw and artistic method this true artist demonstrates. This is balance, a respect for both sides of fate, the spirits that live inside all of us, that create a friction that inspires a man/woman to conflict, which ultimately leads to us realizing that as above, so below. We have divine spirit inside all of us. Embrace the light now, as a balance within the world is needed when you have dark rituals being broadcast during Super Half Time Shows! This has depth, and it's fitting when you look around.

And as inspiring and uplifting as Ren's message of hope and perseverance is, you've actually managed to flip something that for some reason hadn't occurred to me at all in relation to the pendulum - I think I had been so stuck in darkness for so long, I had only focussed on the fact that the brighter the light shone (I used to shine bright), the darker the shadow cast (and the darker the shadow-self becomes) - hearing you flip that to as dark as it gets, it will be equally as bright and that was suddenly a lightbulb moment for me - you've given me another nugget of future hope that I have much, much brighter days to come given the level of deep darkness I was stuck in for many years. Thank you for tying a note on a brick so I actually "got" that side of the message too lol
This came up randomly recommended to me a few weeks ago and then I had to go and listen to his other music. Some isn’t my style but the dude has his hand in many bags, he can sing and he makes amazing stories. He’s a great guitar player as well. Kids dope for sure, it’s sad what he’s going through but, we wouldn’t have this masterpiece among others to come I’m sure if he didn’t have to go through it. Such is life.

Idk…but I feel like the people who get rid of the superficial and face their suffering bring forth the best thoughts and art. My 15 year old daughter was diagnosed with Graves Disease when she was 10, then EDS, then POTS and she thinks like nobody I know…she creates like nobody I know. I can always tell when she hides from her suffering and when she faces it. I tell her all of the time, but I hope she knows how amazing she is!
