Still miss this guy. Nobody else came close as presenter.
I watched Countdown when I was young & before I was 2 years old I learned the Alphabet from the show. RIP Richard Whiteley you will always live in our hearts.
The Clock Stopped Too Soon
Brilliant person so missed and he was Mr countdown
8:33 "They'll be dancing in the streets of Melrose!... no, not Melrose. Where do you live?", "Sutton Coldfield"
hahahha proper legend. Him and Murray Walker.
James C. Letts class
R.I.P twice nightly you are still sadly missed
My heart goes out to Richard whiteleys friends and families as well as well as the relatives who remembered Richard on countdown
15 years on since we lost him as of 2020
It was sad that he couldn’t be there to witness Countdown and Channel 4’s 25th birthday
Our latest episode this weekend. Thanks for sharing this...
I can't believe Richard Whiteley has gone 12 years ago :(
One of the best presenters on t.v....
He looks like a young Elton John
Rip Richard (Mr countdown)
4:45 it’s so nice they use to involve the audience behind the scenes. Hope they still do but wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t. It seems like the show has changed now because Richard and carol were a one off and they won’t be bettered. Really like Rachel but kinda wish I’d grown up with them two. Was only 3 when Richard died so never got to see him and didn’t see much of carol either 😕
16 years since we lost him
A gentleman, of which there arn't many left.
bladesman123 Truly a lovely person
Saif Hasan agree to both comments, couldn’t have said it better myself. Perhaps more “stars” who want to be on TV should take note
I love his quacking at 7:24. Made me smile there
I don't watch Countdown anymore...used to watch it sporadically during my time in Primary and Secondary school. Great show.
RIP Richard.
A truly great man. His puns were dreadful, his ties were cataclysmic but we loved him dearly as a sort of kindly Uncle. God bless xxx
he was fondly got the clip where he says dot con haha
Cannot believe its almost 4 years since the Human deckchair left us. Bet he is hosting Countdown up there...
He will be
I thought he was a good looking fella , God bless him
Susie Dent is loverlyyyyy :)
She is such a sweetheart.
i don't even like vowels and consonants i do alright on the numbers but this is my number 1 show. only available to me on youtube. gosh, imagine how much money they would make on the ads for all countdown episodes.
This is episode 4104 as of Tuesday 16th May 2006 in the penultimate heat game in Series 54.
He was a one off, so sad he died at 61.
What's the music at 8:29? I'd like to find the whole recording of this. It's such a jolly tune.
It’s the theme for Match Game 62-69. Or Swinging Safari
RIP
The tune at 8:25 is called "Swingin' Safari"
As a countdown ends to a new channel A new countdown begins.
RIP RICHARD WHITLEY THE FIRST FACE OF CHANNEL 4
What's the song that starts at about 6:00 called?
i like you carol
Where is Part Three???
RIP Richard. Terrible presenter, but a thoroughly unique televisual phenomenon. We genuinely loved you.
1:36 Clock reset!
Sad
And the tune at 9:35?
Ben Marshall 9:35
WHAT a username, sir ;D
Why is there 1 dislike!?
He died when I was three so I never got to see him but from everything I’ve heard I wish I could’ve watched countdown with him on. And carol Vorderman too
Don’t get me wrong I like the show as it is now with nick and Rachel but it seems like carol and Richard were a cool partnership
He looks like Elton John a wee bit with the glasses in the 80s
