Just had some Elk for the first time today at lunch, not counting a couple of Elk smokies I had before which with all the spices could have been anything. One of my co-workers picked some up at a local butcher shop who says he gets it from South Dakota, so we had a cookout today. Good Stuff!
Yummy!
12:50 Like i tell my nephews you dont have to tag out everytime to be successful, its the getting out and enjoying the outdoors and the memories with your family or friends too. Enjoy your videos. Keep em coming.
Rough with no fill for the Elk Tag but there's always next year!! That big boy is out there waiting for ya!! Gorgeous scenery over there!!
I hunt in Utah and for over the counter elk tags this is quite normal. Just hunt as hard as you can and it will happen for you! It is just as much a mind game as a physical challenge. Try not to get discouraged because it literally only takes a few seconds for a hunt to really turn around. I’m sure you know this though, thanks for all the great videos you create!!
Bummer you didnt get an elk. Im sure you had fun though. It is beautiful country for sure. Next year!!
Elk hunting isn't easy. I was fortunate to get a 6x6 my second trip to Colorado no guide. My wife and I drove out from Virginia. We were in Colorado 24hrs after we left our house. First trip I seen a nice bull through some small Xmas trees but no shot. Tracked that sucker in the snow for 4 hrs and bumped him out of his bed. He was gone after that as you could tell by his tracks. Keep at it you'll get it done, you'll definitely have fun trying!! Keep bringing the great content!!
Wow it is beautiful there, you are very lucky to experience that. Keep at it and you'll get your elk.
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures, Adam.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. ✝️
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you and yours. Enjoy your work. God bless.
That is why I watch you because you are so informative about your experiences and Bing Bang items you are a ginuwine enthusiast thank you.
Appreciate you watching
Gotta keep at it. It’s not always easy. Took me 4 years to finally bag my first. Lucked out with a nice 5x6 then bagged a nice eastern plains muley two months later.
Looked amazing.
I went elk/deer hunting to Colorado with my brother and a group of guys. We didn’t know anything about elk hunting and did a whole lot of walking. We ended up meeting a guy on public lands and he told us a spot where the bulls like to stay at in third season. We went to that spot and spotted a bull @704 yards. We shot and dropped the elk on the spot. The hardest part tho was packing it out of the ravine it was shot in. We learned a lot tho and really enjoyed the hunt.
It was a rough year for us locals out here too. There was quite a bit of winter kill and our normal honey holes were almost dried up. Give me a holler next time you are out this way, I’ve got some private farm land that has a serious prarie dog problem, if you’re interested anyway.
Ha, right?!? My honey hole burned up in a fire in 2020, so I had to find a new honey hole, which I did. It fortunately wasn't in the winter kill zone, but it was adjacent, so all of the hunters that got pushed out of the winter kill area got the tags I would have used for my honey hole. Now it sound like the wolves are moving in, so I feeling a little screwed all around. Did hunt elk this year with my son, and we saw a couple, shot zero, but had a great time anyway.
Thank you for your awesome videos Adam! Better luck next time.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome.
Great details.
And you made it safel.
100 and 1 questions too.
But not on an open board forum..
Very much appreciate the vids and info

I really love watching your channel. Eastern and southern hunting is very different from us out west. I hunt elk, deer, and antelope in NM, and your elk experience is pretty much standard for public hunts here. It can take the better part of a decade to finally get it all right and even then, you probably made more mistakes than you did things right. I've killed a few antelope and some elk, but mulies mystify me. Maybe we can trade deer/elk tactics.
Great video I wished and would love to go elk hunting and that’s the camo I want from Walmart!
Thanks for sharing another great video 👍
Thanks for watching!
Just asking for those of us that have no experience elk hunting. Would it be possible for you to make a video explaining the whole process. Where to public land hunt, how to get the tag, and the cost involved.
Sure love your videos. Thank you
Where to find the land I get the info from OnX and HintStand apps on my phone. To buy the license most you can get online now, but otherwise can get at Walmart or sporting goods store.
Try GO HUNT they have state by state zones areas draw odds fees dates ect
Love your videos. Thanks to you for providing all the entertainment.
At least you saw a spike. Those are unicorns to me. I’m in Utah, and over the counter usually is that tag and boy its so hard to find them. I always stumble upon big bulls. You’ll get an ELK someday I’m sure!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Still a great time and beautiful place!
Loved how the video showed your day by day progress and the dedication and WORK it takes to hunt. To many times I have taken people out and after about an hour in they were ready to start target shooting, last time I hunted with them lol. Very cool you didn't take a small one, my motto on the smaller ones, "Let em' go and let em' Grow"! Love all that is WHO_TEE_WHO!
Looks like you had a good hunt notwithstanding that you didn't run into any legal bulls. The elk we hunt tend to be pretty fickle (they're downright spooky in the timber in west-central Alberta). You can be sure that some were probably in the vicinity to the cows you saw. It's a numbers game. One day, you'll have your big bull elk encounter. When it happens, it'll be quick, full of adrenaline, and a memory for a lifetime.
Wishing you and your family a joyful Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year!
Great video thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Awsome MERRY Christmas
I’ve hunted Colorado several times over the years. We always set up a bass camp and have them deliver horses to us. It’s easier to get up where the elk are if you’re on a horse. And they’re not very expensive. Much easier to have the horse do all the walking and climbing up and down the hills than us fault from back east, who aren’t used all those high altitudes.
Beautiful country!!
Public land in Colorado has been ok to myself and family for elk. We have always brought something home for our efforts. Hope that continues but with the winter kill this next year may not be so good
Hey buddy you will get em next time Merry Christmas!
It can be tough hunting out there. Have a friend who went out there every other year. And he hunted public land and it was hit or miss depending on your tags. 👍
Enjoyed watching ✌️
Thanks for watching!
Great Video 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Heck yeah brother 👍🇺🇸
Good luck
Bow hunted elk in Carbondale, Colorado area years ago. Saw 2 bull elk and almost full drew back on a 5 x 5. But he busted and ran before I could release my arrow super. Grateful to be able to go. Even see an animal. I was the only one in camp who had an opportunity.
I really wish CZcams would have been a thing 2 or 3 decade's ago and I would have been a CZcamsr.
I guess I will have to just have to settle for old school and find someone that can write my stories.
But I will have to say watching a hundred + head headed your way is an AMAZING site to see luckily the 2 teenaged young men did as they were asked and as hard as it was waited for our best opportunity.
My first time in Colorado I went with a some friends I had a 6x6 about 100 yards I took my shot it ran my buddy said you got than we heard another shot I just dropped my head knowing I just lost my elk ended up it was one of our friends he told me to tag I said no you dropped it. It's yours he said you get half of it. We flipped coin for rack I lost it
Oof
Hunted elk the first time this year, had camp set up at 9100ft seen elk nearly every day just never got a shot.
Same for me on moose...been two times never saw a good bull...hunting Canada and newfoundland....
Tag soup is is dry and rubbery I had tag elk soup to this year too still trying to get it down and out of my system but some time it not about the the kill it about having fun with friends and family and learning the mountain
Still a good hunt. Nothing like being out in country like that with your buddies
Yup
I had elk steak in a very fine restaurant one time! Probably one of the most expensive meals I’ve ever bought myself. Thanks for the great videos WTW
Yummy
Get a baby sitter and take your beautiful wife to Grove Park In In Asheville NC. One Friday and eat seafood or and then to Biltmore Castle should be front pocket money for you 😆
Hey made it to my state ! Welcome to the Rockies
I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE to go Elk Hunting with you next Season. Let’s get together and make it happen WTW. I’ll even do the Cooking and Bring some really good Eating for us.
❤❤❤
Been able to go to second rifle over the counter two years and never saw a legal bull on the public . Saw cows and spikes but still enjoyed the adventure . Four of us went both times and hunted daylight to dark every day of season with out one legal bull even saw . Used on x and other apps along with pointers and advice from other hunters and locals even ask the local Dnr for any advice on where the elk maybe . I think between the pressure and the bad winters before our trip the odds were against us .
Sounds about right
Awesome country dide to hunt ! You'll getone !
Think that’s bad wait till the wolfs get going!! They are using tag money to relocate them. Thank you hunters!
go get one for us Tiger!
Howdy WTW!!!
Howdy
thats about 98/100 for my hunts, small regions here in finland for some hunters.
Night all
Nice try WTW, enjoyed watching!
Where at in Colorado where you? I was there 2nd season by meeker no elk for us but got a little Muley buck! Then came home to Iowa and got a big whitetail. Hope you get u a elk soon I’m still chasing my first elk to there tough to hunt
Don't remember exactly where we were
@@WHOTEEWHO oh lol if you go next year hopefully you get one! Not sure if I’m going this next year might try another state
Looks amazing out in Colorado. At least you got to spend time with friends.
I myself haven't ever had elk. But I hear it's really good. It's pretty pricey at Cabela's restaurant as well.
I've never gone out of state for hunting. I did it a lot when I was in the service in Europe and Africa.
I kinda figure if the game animal is smart enough to avoid you, the old Indian stories of their wisdom are likely founded on something.
What did that tag cost?
And the rest of the trip?
Did you ever get any fabulous Colorado Mexican food??
Awesome stuff! 👌 😊
I'm guessing you did not tag out on this Elk hunt🤔
Sounds like you put some miles on. Better luck next time.
All those miles on your feet….what boots do you use? I normally wear rubber insulated Lacrosse boots cause its cold wet and swampy….but if im trekking miles….i like to wear my Irish Setter hunting boots…more forgiving on the feet.
I wear danners
Get ready to eat more elk soup if you’re going back to Colorado. Too many over the counter tags and they also coincide with other
spies hunts. I found out the hard way 😮
You must hunt higher where they feel less pressure.
When will you review the gen2 ruger American
Buying one tomorrow
What is your point count has to be to be legal. Ours in British Columbia Canada Is 6 on one Side or 3 points in some areas
4 on one side
Hey WHO _ TEE _ WHO have you shot the new Ruger Gen 2 yet ?
Nope
Colorado government to elk off the ballot I think
What bing bang did you use for this hunt?
Not much air up here, is there?
Nope
One of these days I hope to do an Elk hunt. So, I saw your video on the Wolf muzzleloader and bought one last weekend to get a doe before end of muzzleloader season Dec 24. Well, got it sighted after eleven shots. Scrubbed it good after five and dry patched it in between. The first time I removed firing pin the little cap was tight but went back in about the same. This last time it was also tight of course but when I went to thread it back it would go past half thread by hand and found a burr on the cap thread. Dressed that with 400 sand paper but it still won’t go back. Rolled a small piece and lightely worked it. Cleaned it and it won’t go in so I guess I’ll contact CVA (BPI) after the holidays. They are all closed up. Can’t even contact them now. Kinda discouraged. Have you heard of this issue?
Are you talking about the breech plug. Breech plug is the #1 thing you gotta keep greased up. Otherwise it will not thread back in or even worse you won't be able to get it out
@@WHOTEEWHO no. The firing pin. The breech plug is great.
Never had any issue with the firing pin 🤷♂️
@@WHOTEEWHO thanks. I’ll just have to wait for BPI CVA to come back to work. They are down till Jan 9 by the website.
I heat eating a tag samweag. No matter what you put on it. It's not meat.
RoaR
Roar
MONTANA LOOKS TO BE EASIER THAN THAT.
Yup
What zone were you in?
Don't remember
Have you tried to hunt Elk in Kentucky? Maybe look into that.
Very hard tag to get
@@WHOTEEWHO It's difficult for residents,,, guess non resident would be even tougher but now is the time to put application in for the draw. Might be worth a shot for you, wouldn't have to travel far. I understand those that do get drawn for a tag have a high success percentage.
I've applied for a few years with no success. But Ky got paid. 😡
@@WHOTEEWHOunless you are a couple with a film crew, then you can draw a tag 2 years in a row. I can't remember who it was, but i'm sure $$$$ was a factor in that deal.
Better get your elk hunt in quick in Colorado, they are literally releasing wolves as I speak
Yup
I have a buddy that is still in contact with the ranch he lived on in Colorado. He talked with the ranch owner about the "release" of the 5 wolves a few days ago. Colorado Fish and Game transported the 5 wolves in 15 pickups pulling trailers up the canyon. The numbers don't add up. Colorado hunting will likely be about gone in 5-10 years.
Western Montana elk and deer tags have been regularly eaten since the wolf "introduction". I haven't killed an elk since 2006 and was one of the guys that hunted hard and killed one nearly every year since 1984. Those days are long gone and now I only see wolf and cougar tracks.
No mule deer either?
Nope
I KNOW YOUR THE BIGGEST RUGER FAN THEY JUST RELEASE THE RUGER AMERICAN GENERATION 2 GO CHECK IT OUT & DO A REVIEW!!!!!
We are residence of Colorado, we were drawn for elk this year. Then our wonderful CPW resided the cancel all our tags. For out of state licenses. They get more money from you guys ( out of state hunters) than locals. Our CPW are a bunch of A-Holes.
Yikes
Well we didn't see any anyways 😆
who else doesnt read the name but actualy yells it ^^
Why y'all shoot bing bangs wrong? Trigger hand stays on gun other hand works the bolt! So you can fling em!
Right handed man left handed rifles
It's hunting not catching sonetimes
Should have stayed out in the woods not a BnB...
