Love it! My dad was born in Deadwood in 1947! Grandma is buried there and family worked in the gold mine in the 70's...Been there 6 times between Deadwood, Center, and Rapid City..Thanks
This is a wonderful documentary on a gentleman that died in Deadwood. Very interesting. I loved it.
What an amazing documentary. It really touched me, especially after seeing the face of this young man come to life. It's sad that his cause of death was not able to be determined, and that there was no old paperwork found that could've identified him by name. I wanted to suggest maybe putting a photo of the facial drawing on the tombstone. There is no telling who might visit, recognize the face, and might have a link to the past with old photos from ancestors he was part of.
Deadwood the movie is coming soon. Set ten years after the end of Series 3 of the tv show. Can't wait. Love Deadwood and look forward to going there one day.
You geek looking fuck.
That movie sucked cock by choice.
I really enjoyed watching this documentary, very interesting. What a great group of very clever and caring people. 👍👏👏👏
Whoever he is, he's a lucky guy.
I love history.❤
Great work done by very enthusiastic and very nice people.
Thank you SDPD for a very interesting documentary.
I wish you rainbows.
A generous gift of works and time by these peoples to protect and maintain the varous artifacts and stories of the History.
My grandpa's dad was in on gold mining ⛏️ on Native Americans land , he lead party of miners Captain Thomas Russell . He was on hunting party when Calvary ran them off land arrested some of them . My Grandpa's dad got away with rest of hunting party. The black Hills of South Dakota has the story in it . Thanks for your video . God bless one and all.
Fascinating. He was such a beautiful young man
Isn't science just awesome?
This is the first time I have watched this documentary on Deadwood I would love to see more this is very interesting!
Big fan of Deadwood series. This was fascinating. Thank you. They should put his image on the tombstone
im totally gutted the tv series was cancelled i watched it & i thought it was great with great actors based on real life people & historic events.i was most saddened to watch it build to an explosive ending then get axed without a conclusion great post... .

What a great and informative documentary. May he rest in peace.
I loved this! I love the history of Deadwood and can't get enough of it. I appreciate what you shared and would be so happy to see more of this kind of information about Deadwood. Thank You so much!!
Visited Deadwood in 2014. Stayed at the Bullock hotel. I love this history…
I would love to watch this, but that background music is making me anxious. I can’t handle that sort of noise.
What a nicely made documentary! Well done SDPTV!
This was so very interesting. 😊
Love Deadwood. I would love to visit there.
The detective work done by all of the professionals in order to determine some of this individuals life is nothing short of amazing. I hope they can find some living relative or relatives of this man and maybe they can provide even more history on this early Deadwood resident.
Very interesting. I, as well, have loved the history of Deadwood. Thank you.
What a great story of Deadwood!
Dr. Angie Ambers has a way with words -wow
Thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you.
Most people don't get it but the reasons why barbers did tooth extractions and dentistry was because after you were completely beaten up in the chair they had Combs and brushes to make you look presentable when you walked out I'm pretty sure this is the truth
Deadwood is definitely on my list to visit! Great show, thanks for posting this.
I have been to Dead Wood twice. Really surreal to stand at Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Janes grave.
@@lookingforwyatteearp3137 Oh I bet! My wife just informed me that we are moving to Oklahoma, guess I dont have to be concerned with the long drive from California anymore hehe. I sort of regret that I only learned about deadwood thru the viewing of the HBO show,I knew about the main characters but nothing of the town that sprang up. I'm glad its been somewhat preserved that we may all learn about this wild town.
You have a very wonderful love of humanity of which are created Jehovah.Has he loves humans? That's why he warns them. We're living in the last days but he's gonna bring a paradise back to the earth someday
Great story
An amazing and very interesting documentary and I hope the young man some day might be identified although I know that’s a long shot but stranger things have been known to happen.
Im 100% sure Thats Billy Bob i used to drink with him after a hard day panning for gold. My body not here any more, but my mind is after 150 years. Yep thats good old Billy. remembered we had a three some with this gal called Mary joe, Poor ole Billy could not aford his half so i paid for him. R.I.P Billy Bob some day ill meet you again in the pearl gates
Why where the caskets so small ? They look like children’s caskets.
This program is amazing, I love history and this really answers a lot of questions.
But still those caskets look so
Small . Like only 3 feet long .
So glad that you are investigating this .
They’re called ossuaries, they are small boxes for bones to be buried in.
What a great story! Any new information?
Fascinating video!
Enjoyed this!
Terrible music. It's interesting but the background soundtrack was driving me away
What a handsome young man. RIP
On a side note, it was interesting to know that Seth Bullock (the actor) was an actual person who lived in Deadwood and he stayed in Deadwood until his death!
Surprising he had so much decay luving in an area with high flouride content in the water.
Any update on this man’s identity? I read they narrowed it down to seven people
His dentist was probably his father.
Very interesting theory! I assume you came to that conclusion by the amount of care that was taken with this young man, which I honestly think is rather brilliant and makes a lot of since... The, "we'll never know's" of history are quite amazing.. Have you ever been to Deadwood? It's an amazing little town!!
I have not, although I enjoy many different channel's, my kids included, "slowroamers" that tour and discover, really interesting stuff.
You know I thought that, too. For as long as he would have spent in the chair, and for the high dollar amount of the work done.
Pretty interesting.great upload.
Awesome
No man lives to himself, and, no man dies unto himself, birth begins a life story we ALL leave along the way, a uniqueness of a life lived, good, or bad, rich, or poor.
what cover of rye whisky is that please ?
That photo at 16 seconds in sure looks like Col. Custer on expedition. However, Wild Bill died two months after Custer's death. Is this a blend of photos?
Was there any strange activity noted by the homeowner while the burial was disturbed or before? It might be interesting to bring a paranormal investigator or 2 in to see what they say
This is a great information video. So why do you include music/noise in the background? I can’t focus on what you’re telling me over the stinking music/noise!
Lol
Too bad there weren't local experts in the various fields.
Thought this was going to be about the paper. :)
That's. Cool
Of all the s*&% videos played by my history teachers in high school, I wish they would have played this instead. This was so interesting and held my attention. It made me want to know more about the early mining camps snd and their inhabitants.
This kind of reconstructive science was not available until the last two decades. also, how much effort did you put into learning. Some of the responsibility for learning lies with YOU.
The music is annoying
Awesome. Loved it.
So all that and we don't know his name??!
The physical features of this young man sound so similar to Billy the Kid. There must have been a lot of "Bonnies" trying to make it on their own at that time.
The Barbers pole of red and white represented the bloody cloth of barbers pulling teeth
thats a lot of work to identify one person , if that land was expensive they would yank up the stones and move on
Do you have any evidence to support that claim? Do you know how much time is put into investigating findings all over Europe? When remains are found, construction is STOPPED.
"Colorado fluoride stain" is not science. But is great conjecture
It kinda ends with the forensic artist and she was great with it.
The problem with the woman who did the reconstruction saying that he was well off as a child but did not have as much money in later life because of the difference in dental work is a flawed idea. The lower quality of dental work could have been because that was al that was available where he was. Do you really think that you would have highly trained dentists in an 'outlaw' mining camp when they could have made just as much money in civilisation?
This is why the definition of History is a lie agreed upon
@@arlenmargolin4868 you can test the teeth for the diet.
I'm disappointed: I thought they were going to identify him. And no cause of death was determined. But it's interesting nonetheless to see all the advanced research done in the attempt. No doubt a lot of money was spent on this project. TBC.
His dentist was Doc Holliday!
If only you could have found his pants and boots. you could have determined where he might have passed. but then again some things are better left unknown especially in Deadwood!
7:07 George Armstrong Custer in buckskin ;)
@ivannio8519
How can George Custer being visiting the grave of William Hickock when Custer died a week before Mr. Hickcock?
@@petebondurant58Haha - I do not know, but it sure looks like Custer ;)
@@ivannio8519 He does look very much like Colonel Custer, but he cannot be.
@@petebondurant58 Hi Pete ;) I understand. And thank you for correcting me. I was not thinking about checking the date of Mr. Hiscocks funeral ;) I will not erase my comments as this conversation may prevent others from doing same mistake as I. Best regards :)
@@ivannio8519 I immediately thought that it was George Armstrong Custer myself, until I noticed the headstone, and of course...having recently rewatched HBO's DEADWOOD, and remembering Custer's death being mentioned on the series, while Wild Bill Hickock (Keith Carradine) was still alive on the show. 🙂
So what did he die of?
⚓️ Thanks SDPB 🌈 $$$ has BARRICK made $$ contribution to any research & preservation? 😎
Wonder who paid for all this. Had to cost big bucks
Much of the gambling revenue from Deadwood casinos must be used for historical preservation. That is how gambling in Deadwood was sanctioned by the state of SD when gambling was allowed abt 35 years ago. I learned all this while visiting Deadwood recently!
A little long but it was excellent,, learn quite a bit by watching it
Nothing has really changed except it's more survivable.and hard ass law .but underground hook ups still happen and some drug use and rowdy weekends especially during Mardi gras and st pats day
I'm hoping some one from Deadwood still checks this video for comments. Could the image of the young man at 2:34 minutes in the middle be the young man in the artist's sketch? IF so he was photographed in Bannack, MT long ago. Before Deadwood was established though. Looks fairly similar to me. Link :czcams.com/video/IgZOBXrp0GA/video.html
I just watched your right there were two that did look like the picture
You're not wrong.
@@porcine83 I don't know how to get this video to the Historical Society of Deadwood. I've tried with no reply 2 years ago. Do you know how to do so?
Sounds like they're shooting in the dark to me as to identifying the individual in that grave
After watching this woman for awhile I had an annoying urge to say, "What's up, doc?"
Lets not forget the Hurdy Gurdy Girls. If it wasn't for them, the town would not have prospered. :)
why isn’t anyone wearing gloves, while handling these artifacts
Dead they have to have music in the background the whole fucking time
GRIMES find on CZcams just found a load of dead wood documents, chech it out.
Black hılls news paper still publısher now?
What a shame...couldn't finish..whomever mixed in the overbearing...annoying background tracks destroyed your project
That background music is atrocious and distracting. Can’t hear clearly. It’s not necessary to drown peoples voices when they are trying to explain things to us. 2 thumbs down. Unsubbed Ruined the entire video with that stupid music.
He died of blood poisoning from his teeth 🤠💀
LAST😎💪💪🚬🚬🏃
He would not ware pants or shoes because when a body was in the coffin you only see him from the wist down. To dress a body completely is not necessary. Try to get boots on a body.
For DNA they should post in on GEDCom. And they are spit not swab.
You mean you see the body only from the waist up to the head resting on a pillow. The waist and down would not be seen if the coffin was a 2 section top. In the 1800`s they used pine boxes for the most part as coffins, and the lid,or "top" was 90% of the time just a solid, unbroken cover. So bodies on display were clothed from head to toe most all the time. If boots were a problem to put on they simply slit the back of the boot open to slip the foot on. This period of time also was huge as far as dead bodies propped up to look like they were still living , in pictures of the deceased sitting with members of the rest of the family in many cases. This was a common occurance for years. It fell out of favor, and became to be considered crude and dangerous to pose with a corpse that was possibly carrying a disease, and ,or beginning to rapidly decompose.
These people are wasting public money in an obscure attempt to keep their own funding . Interesting story , but many people are needing support above this .
Wrong! Most of the money and wealth in the area is driven by tourism. Mount Rushmore,The Badlands,Sturgis and the huge Motorcycle rally brings in huge $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ creating jobs, business and tax revenues. There’s casinos, restaurants, museums, bars, clothing stores ect.. ect… Scott Jacobs (the premier Harley Davidson artist)(undercover millionaire) has his art studio there and owns a restaurant, brewery and Airbnb. He employs dozens of people that’s just one guy.
How many thousands of dollars were wasted on this?
It's not a waste if people learn from it. New information leads to new ideas and new ideas lead to all kinds of progress. Get real.
