King George VI leaving Buckingham Palace on horseback, escort behind him. King riding slowly to Horse Guards Parade, Crowds cheering. Troops lined up on Horse Guards Parade.     Troops look fitter than today.... all were slim and tall looking.

    1937 almost exactly the same as today except the guardsmen were carrying swords whereas today they carry guns, and I bet the clothes they are wearing today were hand downs because everything is well cared for and cleaned and stored. No security then, no barriers. Still have the uniforms and bearskins. Greatness and tradition never changes only the horses and participants have all gone now. 😢
